United Airlines, Inc., commonly referred to as United, is a major American airline headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. It is the world's largest airline when measured by number of destinations served, and the second largest when measured by scheduled passenger-kilometres flown. United operates a comprehensive domestic and international route network, and has significant presence in the Asia-Pacific region. In the late 1920s, just prior to the use of the United Airlines name, The Boeing Company, currently one of the world's largest aircraft manufacturers, operated a predecessor airline.
United is a founding member of Star Alliance, the world's first and largest global airline alliance. Regional service is operated by independent carriers under the brand name United Express. Its main competitors are American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and Southwest Airlines.
United operates out of nine airline hubs located in Houston, Chicago, Newark/New York, Denver, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Guam, and Tokyo. United also operates maintenance bases in Cleveland and Orlando in addition to the maintenance locations located at United's hubs. George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston is United's largest passenger carrying hub handling 16.6 million passengers annually with an average of 45,413 passengers daily, while Chicago-O'Hare is its largest hub in terms of daily departures. The company employs over 88,500 people while maintaining its headquarters in Chicago's Willis Tower (formerly known as Sears Tower). Through the airline's parent company, United Continental Holdings, it is publicly traded under NYSE: UAL with a market capitalization of over $18 billion as of September, 2014.
Good day mates! Glad you once more made it to one of my reviews! First of all thank you for watching, I hope you enjoy! Just a bit of information about this review: During my last California vacation last september I got the chance to fly United Airlines domestic business class for the very first time. They offered a great deal and luckily one of those domestic flights was operated by a Boeing dreamliner, which in my opinion is one of the best looking and comfortable planes to fly these days. The good thing about a long haul aircraft on a domestic route is that you get the full business class experience, with all lie flat seats, great IFE and superb service. This isn't the case on their 737's.. United has a pretty decent business class and the FA's tried hard to make the flight as enjoyab...

IFR: IN FLIGHT REVIEW: Sitting in United Business First Seat 7K (Rear Facing, Window) on the Boeing 747-400. First time flying on this bird, and sadly one of the last as United has announced plans to accelerate retirement of this aircraft by the end of 2018. This flight takes us from San Francisco to London's Heathrow on a 10.5 hour journey. It starts off with a slight delay, but the 747 picks up steam and we launch right into United's famous 4 course Business First dinner (5 courses in Global First). Starting December 1st, Untied will roll out a new service (Polaris). We can't wait to bring you this product! We opted for the beef option for this flight. This flight was operated by a Legacy (Pre-Merger) United crew. Stay tuned for the return journey on the 767-400ER operated by a Legacy Co...
United Airlines Flight 232 was a DC-10 (registered N1819U) that on July 19, 1989 crash-landed in Sioux City, Iowa after suffering catastrophic failure of its tail-mounted engine, which led to the loss of all flight controls. The flight was en route from Stapleton International Airport in Denver, Colorado to O'Hare International Airport in Chicago. Of the 296 people on board, 111 died in the accident and 185 survived. Despite the deaths, the accident is considered a prime example of successful crew resource management due to the large number of survivors and the manner in which the flight crew handled the emergency and landed the airplane without conventional control. The flight crew became well known as a result of their actions, in particular the captain, Alfred C. Haynes, and a DC-10 ins...

On 24 February 1989, United Airlines Flight 811 was flying above the Pacific Ocean when part of the right-side fuselage was ripped off, ejecting nine people from the aircraft and causing explosive decompression. The flight later landed safely at Honolulu without any more loss of life. An electrical short circuit caused the cargo door to open, creating the explosive decompression. Hey guys! And welcome back to another trip report that I spent more than 2 weeks on, these things aren't easy to edit! I am really happy with this report and I had fun working on it, so I hope you enjoyed it :) I had a great flight and will continue to love and travel with UA, the flight attendants were really funny and nice but some were more stern, emotionless and professional than others (not that I thought the other weren't professional because they were) Now, during taxi an FA came to me and told me to take down my camera mount for "legal reasons" So I did for like 5 min before putting it back up again and using the mount for the rest of the flight ;) something I did have to do was kind of hide the camera and the window with my pillow when the FA's came around with food, drinks ect. Come along with me on my first-ever trip to the west coast! My unique travel arrangements allowed me to do some very unusual things with the trip report. That's because my friend Dan was traveling with me, but started his journey from Newark, NJ. We connected to the same flight in San Fransisco. As a result, parts of his journey from EWR to SFO are included in the report (thanks for the footage, Dan!), including the most awesome part: Synchronized footage of his landing at SFO both from in the cabin (his footage) and from the terminal (my footage). Aside from all of that, there's plenty more to love: -I got to fly on the Embraer E-175 - one of my favorite planes - all the way from St. Louis to San Fransisco. That's over 4.5 hours, making this one of the longest scheduled regional j...
