Let me explain u briefly :
--- To reach Gulmarg u have to hire a different car with chains to their wheels from Tangamrg as its sliperry as roads are covered in snow ..15-20 min from Tangmarg is Gulmarg
--- From Gulmarg , a 15-20 min walk is Gondola cable car ... u can walk but its slippery or hire a horse,which is not available in winters or another option a sledge vehicle where u sit in and a person drags u till the point u could even have a helper who makes sure u are safe enough
--- It is better to book ur gondola cable car tickets online of both the phases...u never know how long the line would be there in the counter but mostly not crowded in winters ..but best to book online ... in case of any cancellation due to bad weather conditions..money will be refunded
--- First , u reach to the 1st Phase .9,100 ft .... full of people learning skiing and enjoying ice ..Unfortunately , at the time we visited ..first phase was fully covered with fog ..so we continued to phase 2 with hope of no fog
--- As we proceeded to 2nd phase...sun started coming out and it was bright and sunny..Some breathtaking views in second phase..13k ft... no oxygen problem even at that height .no worries

The Gulmarg Gondola in Jammu and Kashmir is the world's highest operating cable car. This Gondola operates in two phases. First phase takes you to Kongdori at an altitude of nearly 10,000 feet or 3050 meter and second phase takes you to Afarwat Mountain peak at an altitude of 13500 feet or 4200 meter. This was in the month of May, 2014 and the entire first phase is covered with thick ice. Snow mobiles and snow scooters were cruising over there. Gulmarg
Gulmarg (translation: "Meadow of Flowers") is a town, a hill station, a popular skiing destination and a notified area committee in Baramula district in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. The town is sitiuated in the Pir Pinjal range in the western the Himalayas and is within miles of the Line of Control between India and Pakistan.
History
Originally named Gaurimarg ("the fair one") by shepherds in honor of the Hindu goddess Parvati, the resort was renamed Gulmarg (“meadow of flowers”) by Sultan Yusuf Shah of the Chak Dynasty who frequented the place with his mistress Habba khatoon in the 16th century. Wild flowers of 21 different varieties were collected by the Mughal emperor Jahangir for his gardens in Gulmarg. In the 19th century, British civil servants started using Gulmarg as a retreat to escape summers in North Indian plains. Hunting and golfing were their favorite pastime and three golf courses were established in Gulmarg including one exclusively for women. One of the three golf courses established survives to the present day and at an altitude of 2,650 metres (8,690 ft) is the world's highest golf course. In 1927, British established a ski club in Gulmarg and two annual ski events were hosted one each during Christmas and Easter. Central Asian explorer Aurel Stein also visited Gulmarg during this period.

PHASE 2
PHASE 2, born Lonny Wood is one of the most influential and well known New York City aerosol artists. Mostly active in the 1970s, Phase 2 is generally credited with originating the "bubble letter" style of aerosol writing, also known as "softies". He was also influential in the early hip hop scene.
Aerosol career
Phase 2 is from The Bronx, and attended DeWitt Clinton High School along with a number of other early aerosol artists. Many famous writers of the early 1970s would meet at a doughnut shop across from the school called the Coffee Shop before heading down to the subway station at 149th Street and Grand Concourse to watch tagged trains on the IRT line pass by. Phase 2 was mentored as a writer by Lee 163d!, one of the pioneers of writing in The Bronx.
He began writing in late 1971 under the name Phase 2, a moniker which had a rather mundane provenance. As Phase 2 would later recall, "the previous year we'd given this party. We were getting ready to give another one and I said, 'We'll call this one Phase Two.' I don't know why, but I was stuck on the name. It had meaning for me. I started writing 'Phase 2.'"

--- First , u reach to the 1st Phase .9,100 ft .... full of people learning skiing and enjoying ice ..Unfortunately , at the time we visited ..first phase was fully covered with fog ..so we continued to phase 2 with hope of no fog
--- As we proceeded to 2nd phase...sun started coming out and it was bright and sunny..Some breathtaking views in second phase..13k ft... no oxygen problem even at that height .no worries

This video has been uploaded as it may help people who may be planning to visit to visit Kashmir in winter ...If u are a snow lover...Kashmir is must visit in the months of January and February as u can find fresh ice in there ... This was in the month of May, 2014 and the entire first phase is covered with thick ice. Snow mobiles and snow scooters were cruising over there. Gulmarg, Kashmir also has world's highest and longest skiing slope from Afarwat to Kongdori. Gulmarg is the most important tourist destination of Srinagar, Kashmir. The Gondola ride at Gulmarg itself is a memory for the life. The entire journey up to the first phase is captured in this video.

Kashmir Travel Video Diary & Guides - Part 2 is about my journey to Gulmarg, Kashmir via Srinagar from Jammu by road. My destination was Indian institute of skiing and mountaineering (IISM). A very scary & hungry travel time which took me over 40 hours to reach due to snow fall and other local authorities rules and regulation, yet it was very fun and interesting. I took the bus for Jammu at 9:30 PM on 18th evening and the all the bus heading to Srinagar kashmir were stopped at end of Jammu city after half an hour of running by Kashmir police for safety and security purpose all night in the highway. We stayed there till 5 AM in the morning then bus started running. And in the way we got caught by rainfall and snow fall which made a huge traffic jam and we had stop in many places for hours....

Kashmir Travel Video Diary & Guides - Part 2 is about my journey to Gulmarg, Kashmir via Srinagar from Jammu by road. My destination was Indian institute of skiing and mountaineering (IISM). A very scary & hungry travel time which took me over 40 hours to reach due to snow fall and other local authorities rules and regulation, yet it was very fun and interesting.
I took the bus for Jammu at 9:30 PM on 18th evening and the all the bus heading to Srinagar kashmir were stopped at end of Jammu city after half an hour of running by Kashmir police for safety and security purpose all night in the highway. We stayed there till 5 AM in the morning then bus started running. And in the way we got caught by rainfall and snow fall which made a huge traffic jam and we had stop in many places for hours. The general travel time from Jammu to Srinagar is 7-8 hours which took over 30 hours to reach. As the bus was dropping at Srinagar while city would have been sleeping so I chose to go with person I got introduced in bus....and next day I reached to Gulmarg, my destiny, Indian Institute of skiing & mountaineering around 1 PM . A very long journey but a very beautiful journey. The beautiful scenery, first time snow falling memory, night walk in unknown kashmir, getting lost in snow.. all were my favorite times.

Kashmir Travel Video Diary & Guides - Part 2 is about my journey to Gulmarg, Kashmir via Srinagar from Jammu by road. My destination was Indian institute of skiing and mountaineering (IISM). A very scary & hungry travel time which took me over 40 hours to reach due to snow fall and other local authorities rules and regulation, yet it was very fun and interesting.
I took the bus for Jammu at 9:30 PM on 18th evening and the all the bus heading to Srinagar kashmir were stopped at end of Jammu city after half an hour of running by Kashmir police for safety and security purpose all night in the highway. We stayed there till 5 AM in the morning then bus started running. And in the way we got caught by rainfall and snow fall which made a huge traffic jam and we had stop in many places for hours. The general travel time from Jammu to Srinagar is 7-8 hours which took over 30 hours to reach. As the bus was dropping at Srinagar while city would have been sleeping so I chose to go with person I got introduced in bus....and next day I reached to Gulmarg, my destiny, Indian Institute of skiing & mountaineering around 1 PM . A very long journey but a very beautiful journey. The beautiful scenery, first time snow falling memory, night walk in unknown kashmir, getting lost in snow.. all were my favorite times.
