LENA – Walc (Adam Lewandowski) – Zespół harmonistów Tadeusza Wesołowskiego (Tadeusz Wesolowski’s Accordion Band), Muza c. 1949 (Polish)
NOTE: This film joins together three beautiful elements. One is the pensive waltz “Lena” written long before 1939 by my favorite composer of old Polish waltzes, Adam Lewandowski (not long ago I presented in this channel another beautiful waltz composed by him, the “Romantik” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUDXDhbjSK4 ) Second: is Jan Bułhak, master of Polish prewar photography, and third is the city of Wilno, one of the most beautiful places in prewar Poland, the city called by many as “too beautiful to be real”. The region of Wilno (today: Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania) was in 1876 the birthplace of Jan Bułhak, who through all his life – albeit traveling a lot – remained faithful to his birthplace and left behind the rich collection of stunning photographs of his beloved town. In this clip I have made a blend of all that: the beauty of the music, the legend of Bułhak and the breathtaking beauty of Wilno.
Tomorrow is the religious holiday in Poland: All Souls’ Day, which is celebrated in Poland in the meditative atmosphere, quite opposite to the anglo-saxon habits, with their Halloween street festivals. I hope, this movie captures the atmosphere of reflection and contemplation, which embraces today Poland and the Poles.

Vilnius
Vilnius (Lithuanian pronunciation: [ˈvʲɪlʲnʲʊs]; Polish: Wilno, see also other names) is the capital of Lithuania and its largest city, with a population of 542,664 as of 2015. Vilnius is located in the southeast part of Lithuania and is the second largest city in the Baltic states.
Vilnius is the seat of the Vilnius City Municipality and of the Vilnius District Municipality. It is also the capital of Vilnius County. The first known written record of Vilnius as the Lithuanian capital is known from Gediminas' letters in 1323.
Vilnius is classified as a Gamma global city according to GaWC studies, and is known for the architecture in its Old Town, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. Its Jewish influence until the 20th century has led to it being described as the "Jerusalem of Lithuania" and Napoleon named it "the Jerusalem of the North" as he was passing through in 1812. In 2009, Vilnius was the European Capital of Culture, together with the Austrian city of Linz.

Jan Bułhak
Jan Brunon Bułhak (1876–1950) was a pioneer of photography in Poland and present-day Belarus and Lithuania, and one of the best-known Polish photographers of the early 20th century. A theoretician and philosopher of photography, he was among the most prominent exponents of pictorialism. He is best known for his landscapes and photographs of various places, especially the city of Vilnius (then in Poland, now in Lithuania). He was the founder of the Wilno Photoclub and Polish Photoclub, the predecessors of the modern Union of Polish Art Photographers (ZPAF), of which he was an honorary headperson. He is also known as an ethnographer and folklorist.
Biography
Jan Bułhak was born on October 6, 1876 in Ostaszyn (Belarusian: Асташын), near Navahrudak (Belarusian: Навагрудак), Russian Empire (now Belarus). His parents were Walery Antoni Stanisław Bułhak of Syrokomla and Józefa née Haciska of Roch, both local landowners in Ostaszyn. In the village of Worończa (Belarusian: Варонча) near Navahrudak, not far from St. Ann's Roman Catholic church (Belarusian: Касцёл св. Ганны), there are four graves of Jan Bułhak's ancestors.

We have recently embarked on a bus tour of the Baltic countries. Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, was the first city on the tour. The old town has a bustling atmosphere with musicians, markets and many shops. There is a little Bohemian Uzupis district just outside of the old town which we explored. We ended our time in Lithuania with a visit to the Hill of Crosses which has more than a million crosses, an incredible sight to behold. THANKS FOR WATCHING! This video took me nearly 2 months to get up, and for that I apologise. As you noticed, the video is 16 minutes long! It took ages to get each part done to a point where I just had no time! But I got it done and I hope you liked it! I really loved traveling alone! I usually travel with friends, but I enjoyed this vlog so much because of how I just got to explore by myself and experience it alone. It's nice sometimes. :)
