One of Canada’s most successful film and TV producers, James Shavick began his career after graduating from the first class of Concordia’s (SGWU) film program. A hallmark of his distinguished career has been his support of Canada’s emerging film and television creators. He has mentored and employed a multitude of young producers - many of whom now form the backbone of film and television production in Western Canada and supported film programs across Canada.
Originally from Montreal, it was natural that Shavick’s first feature would be set in Quebec. “Two Solitudes,” a landmark drama about the English-French conflict in his home province, quickly earned a reputation as a Canadian classic. Since then, Shavick has produced more than 500 hours of television – over 100 feature length television movies and 10 television series. Many students graduating this spring would have grown up watching his successful television series on networks such as NBC, ABC and Fox Family Channel. Shavick retains the singular distinction of being the only Canadian producer to ever have had two number one-rated shows in the United States.
In 2005, Shavick married former finance minister and prominent B.C. politician Joy MacPhail. In 2006, he became the majority shareholder and CEO of Canadian broadcaster OUTtv with MacPhail as the Chair of the Board. OUTtv has recently launched an international video subscription service called GayDirect.
Shavick’s philanthropic support includes educational and community organizations such as QMUNITY, Big Sisters, Face the World Foundation, Goodwill Industries, Adler University (Chicago/Vancouver) and The Palm Springs Museum. Capilano University’s film program is proud to have Shavick as a patron.

Il a d’ailleurs fait partie de la première cohorte à terminer ce programme. Son appui aux créateurs émergents de séries télé et de films canadiens demeure un jalon important de son parcours remarquable.
De fait, M. Shavick a mentoré et employé une multitude de jeunes producteurs – dont beaucoup constituent aujourd’hui la base de la production cinématographique et télévisuelle dans l’Ouest canadien. Il a en outre contribué au soutien de programmes dans la sphère du cinéma partout au pays.
M. Shavick est originaire de Montréal : il était donc tout naturel que son premier long métrage à titre de producteur ait le Québec comme toile de fond. Drame historique, Two Solitudes (« Deux solitudes ») traite des relations difficiles entre les anglophones et les francophones dans sa province natale. L’œuvre est rapidement devenue un classique du cinéma canadien. Depuis, M. Shavick a produit plus de 500 heures de télévision – soit une centaine de longs métrages et une dizaine de séries. Nombre d’étudiants qui décrocheront leur diplôme ce printemps ont grandi en regardant ses émissions à succès sur les réseaux NBC, ABC et Fox Family Channel. Du reste, il demeure à ce jour le seul producteur canadien à avoir eu deux programmes télévisés au premier rang du palmarès aux États-Unis.
En 2005, M. Shavick a épousé Joy MacPhail, politicienne de renom et ancienne ministre des Finances de la Colombie-Britannique.
En 2006, il est devenu actionnaire majoritaire et chef de la direction du télédiffuseur canadien OUTtv, où Mme MacPhail assume la présidence du conseil d’administration. OUTtv a récemment lancé GayDirect, un service de vidéo par abonnement d’envergure internationale.
Grand philanthrope, M. Shavick apporte son soutien à plusieurs organismes éducatifs et communautaires, dont QMUNITY, Les Grandes Sœurs, la fondation Face the World, Goodwill Industries, l’Université Adler (à Chicago et à Vancouver) et le musée de Palm Springs. Enfin, M. Shavick parraine le programme d’études cinématographiques de l’Université Capilano.

This is the only remaining footage from the 1993 Film (16mm) titled "Mira Johnson" which was shot in Vancouver BC. Producer/Director Chris J. Clayton, Written by Jason Douglas. Deborah Gaebler was executive producer who put up the origional $50,000 to film it. the film was purchased by Superchannel but never shown on TV and this is the only surviving footage. Origionally produced by White Line Entertainment Ltd....which is now White Lion Films Inc. and JD Productions. James Shavick of Shavick Entertainment supplied the police cars and the film was one of actor Silvio Pollio's first roles. Daniella Evangelista also co-starred at age 12. Uploaded to YouTube for HISTORIC ARCHIVAL PURPOSES ONLY. Footage includes the original time code and several different scene takes. (C)1993-2012 Chris J. James Shavick
James Shavick (born c. 1953) is a Canadian film and television producer, currently the CEO of Shavick Entertainment. He is married to Joy MacPhail, a partner in Shavick Entertainment and a former leader of the British Columbia New Democratic Party.
His films include Two of Hearts and Two Solitudes, while his television series have included The New Addams Family and Breaker High.
He was awarded an honorary doctorate from Capilano University in 2015.

Ryan Reynolds
Ryan Rodney Reynolds (born October 23, 1976) is a Canadian actor and producer. He portrayed Michael Bergen on the ABC sitcom Two Guys and a Girl (1998–2001), Billy Simpson in the YTV Canadian teen soap opera Hillside (1991–93), as well as Marvel Comics characters Hannibal King in Blade: Trinity (2004) and Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009) and Deadpool (2016).
Reynolds has starred in films such as National Lampoon's Van Wilder (2002), The Amityville Horror (2005), Definitely, Maybe (2008), The Proposal (2009), Buried (2010), The Change-Up (2011), Safe House (2012), The Voices (2014), Mississippi Grind (2015), and Woman in Gold (2015). He also portrayed the Hal Jordan version of the DC Comics superhero Green Lantern in the film of the same name (2011).
He has made cameos in popular films such as Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004), Ted (2012), and A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014).
Early life
Ryan Rodney Reynolds was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. His father, James Chester "Jim" Reynolds (1941–2015), was a food wholesaler, and his mother, Tammy, is a retail salesperson. He is of Irish ancestry and was raised as a Roman Catholic. The youngest of four brothers, he graduated from Kitsilano Secondary School in Vancouver in 1994. He attended Kwantlen Polytechnic University, also in Vancouver, until dropping out. Two of his elder brothers work as police officers in British Columbia, one of whom is a Royal Canadian Mounted Police member.

James Earl Jones
James Earl Jones (born January 17, 1931) is an American actor who in a career spanning more than 60 years has become known as "one of America's most distinguished and versatile" actors and "one of the greatest actors in American history." Since his Broadway debut in 1957, Jones has won many awards, including a Tony Award and Golden Globe Award for his role in The Great White Hope. Jones has won three Emmy Awards, including two in the same year in 1991, and he also earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in a Leading Role in the film version of The Great White Hope. He is also known for his voice roles as Darth Vader in the Star Wars film series and Mufasa in Disney's The Lion King as well as many other film, stage, and television roles.
As a child Jones had a stutter. In his episode of Biography, he said he overcame the affliction through poetry, public speaking, and acting, although it lasted for several years. A pre-med major in college, he went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War before pursuing a career in acting.

A hallmark of his distinguished career has been his support of Canada’s emerging film and television creators. He has mentored and employed a multitude of young producers - many of whom now form the backbone of film and television production in Western Canada and supported film programs across Canada.
Originally from Montreal, it was natural that Shavick’s first feature would be set in Quebec. “Two Solitudes,” a landmark drama about the English-French conflict in his home province, quickly earned a reputation as a Canadian classic. Since then, Shavick has produced more than 500 hours of television – over 100 feature length television movies and 10 television series. Many students graduating this spring would have grown up watching his successful television series on networks such as NBC, ABC and Fox Family Channel. Shavick retains the singular distinction of being the only Canadian producer to ever have had two number one-rated shows in the United States.
In 2005, Shavick married former finance minister and prominent B.C. politician Joy MacPhail. In 2006, he became the majority shareholder and CEO of Canadian broadcaster OUTtv with MacPhail as the Chair of the Board. OUTtv has recently launched an international video subscription service called GayDirect.
Shavick’s philanthropic support includes educational and community organizations such as QMUNITY, Big Sisters, Face the World Foundation, Goodwill Industries, Adler University (Chicago/Vancouver) and The Palm Springs Museum. Capilano University’s film program is proud to have Shavick as a patron.

Deborah Gaebler was executive producer who put up the origional $50,000 to film it. the film was purchased by Superchannel but never shown on TV and this is the only surviving footage.
