In the mathematical field of topology, a development is a countable collection of open covers of a topological space that satisfies certain separation axioms.
Let be a topological space. A development for is a countable collection of open coverings of , such that for any closed subset and any point in the complement of , there exists a cover such that no element of which contains intersects . A space with a development is called developable.
A development such that for all is called a nested development. A theorem from Vickery states that every developable space in fact has a nested development. If is a refinement of , for all , then the development is called a refined development.
Vickery's theorem implies that a topological space is a Moore space if and only if it is regular and developable.
In mathematics, topology (from the Greek τόπος, place, and λόγος, study) is concerned with the properties of space that are preserved under continuous deformations, such as stretching and bending, but not tearing or gluing. This can be studied by considering a collection of subsets, called open sets, that satisfy certain properties, turning the given set into what is known as a topological space. Important topological properties include connectedness and compactness.
Topology developed as a field of study out of geometry and set theory, through analysis of such concepts as space, dimension, and transformation. Such ideas go back to Gottfried Leibniz, who in the 17th century envisioned the geometria situs (Greek-Latin for "geometry of place") and analysis situs (Greek-Latin for "picking apart of place"). Leonhard Euler's Seven Bridges of Königsberg Problem and Polyhedron Formula are arguably the field's first theorems. The term topology was introduced by Johann Benedict Listing in the 19th century, although it was not until the first decades of the 20th century that the idea of a topological space was developed. By the middle of the 20th century, topology had become a major branch of mathematics.
Development or developing may refer to:
Network topology is the arrangement of the various elements (links, nodes, etc.) of a computer network. Essentially, it is the topological structure of a network and may be depicted physically or logically. Physical topology is the placement of the various components of a network, including device location and cable installation, while logical topology illustrates how data flows within a network, regardless of its physical design. Distances between nodes, physical interconnections, transmission rates, or signal types may differ between two networks, yet their topologies may be identical.
An example is a local area network (LAN): Any given node in the LAN has one or more physical links to other devices in the network; graphically mapping these links results in a geometric shape that can be used to describe the physical topology of the network. Conversely, mapping the data flow between the components determines the logical topology of the network.
There are two basic categories of network topologies: physical topologies and logical topologies.
Landscape architecture is the design of outdoor public areas, landmarks, and structures to achieve environmental, social-behavioral, or aesthetic outcomes. It involves the systematic investigation of existing social, ecological, and soil conditions and processes in the landscape, and the design of interventions that will produce the desired outcome. The scope of the profession includes landscape design; site planning; stormwater management; environmental restoration; parks and recreation planning; visual resource management; green infrastructure planning and provision; and private estate and residence landscape master planning and design; all at varying scales of design, planning and management. A practitioner in the profession of landscape architecture is called a landscape architect.

This is the full introductory lecture of a beginner's course in Algebraic Topology, given by N J Wildberger at UNSW. The subject is one of the most dynamic and exciting areas of 20th century mathematics, with its roots in the work of Riemann, Klein and Poincare in the latter half of the 19th century. This first lecture will outline the main topics, and will present three well-known but perhaps challenging problems for you to try. The course is for 3rd or 4th year undergraduate math students, but anyone with some mathematical maturity and a little background or willingness to learn group theory can benefit. The subject is particularly important for modern physics. Our treatment will have many standard features, but also some novelties. The lecturer is Assoc Prof N J Wildberger of the Scho...

ALSA Topology Framework - Vinod Koul, Intel Many modern audio systems employ DSPs for audio, voice and speech processing. The processing modules within the DSP are typically implemented in firmware and are configurable by software. Typically a graph of the processing chain in the DSP is analogous to an ASoC DAPM graph and can be modelled using the ASoC DAPM model. But the graph needs to be created by the driver and each product & model may have different processing blocks in the graph. This puts the onus on ALSA driver and subsystem to provide a mechanism which allows DSP graphs to be scaled. The new upstreamed ASoC topology framework allows us to represent the DSP processing chain as a graph/topology and load it from userland during boot resulting in configurable and customizable Linux ...

“Superfluidity, Phase Transitions, and Topology” The critical point and the superfluid transition of bulk liquid 4He provide a unique opportunity for the study of influence of geometry on phase transitions. The variation of physical properties such as the superfluid density and heat capacity of the 4He system near a phase transition can be characterized by exponential functions. The high purity and almost strain free condition (particularly under microgravity conditions) of bulk liquid helium samples allows an unparalleled determination of these exponents. Another approach has been the study of helium adsorbed as a thin film on various porous media where the topology of the substrate controls the character of the transition. Examples are the 3-D superfluid transition observed for a medium...

Abstract: The Kashiwara-Vergne problem is a property of the Baker-Campbell-Hausdorff series which was designed to study the Duflo Theorem in Lie theory. Surprisingly, it is related to many other fields of Mathematics including the Drinfled’s theory of associators and the theory of multiple zeta values. An interesting new development is a link between the Kashiwara-Vergne theory and 2-dimensional topology encoded in the Goldman bracket and Turaev cobracket on spaces of homotopy classes of loops on surfaces. The talk is based on joint works with B. Enriquez, N. Kawazumi, Y. Kuno, F. Naef, E. Meinrenken and C. Torossian.
