Graduate Students

To apply for all available aid programs for new/incoming graduate students, complete these application steps.

Our financial Aid Calendar summarizes the monthly steps in the financial aid and admissions process. You must reapply for many aid programs every year except for renewable scholarships.

Application Steps

  1. Review the general Eligibility Requirements for federal aid.
  2. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) process.
  3. Maryland Residents should apply for aid from the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC).

Many MHEC aid programs require you to submit a FAFSA by March 1.

All of MHEC's aid programs for graduate students also require additional MHEC applications.

Transfer students — If you change schools mid-year or after you have already accepted your MHEC aid, after you choose your new school you must visit MDCAPS to reassign your awards to your new school.

  4. Explore TU's Departmental Scholarships.
  5. Use our Scholarship Seeker to search for additional TU and MHEC scholarships.
  6. Apply for Private Scholarships.
  7. We start sending award notifications to new students by April 1st.
  8. To review and accept your awards, follow the instructions in Your Award Guide. It explains everything you need to know about accepting, receiving, and retaining you awards.
  9. Apply for Graduate Grants & Fellowships
  10. Apply for Graduate Assistantships.
