Perfect Strangers is the eleventh studio album by Deep Purple, released in October 1984. It represents the first album recorded by the reformed (as well as the most successful and popular), 'Mark II' line-up.
It was the first Deep Purple studio album in nine years, and the first with the Mk II line-up for eleven years, the last being Who Do We Think We Are in 1973. Ritchie Blackmore and Roger Glover arrived from Rainbow, Ian Gillan from Black Sabbath, Jon Lord from Whitesnake, and Ian Paice from Gary Moore's backing band.
The CD and cassette versions of the album contained the extra track "Not Responsible" (one of few Deep Purple songs with profane lyrics, as the word "fucking" can be heard in the song). The album was remastered and reissued on 22 June 1999 with the bonus instrumental track "Son of Alerik". The latter had previously been available as a B-side on "Perfect Strangers" in 1984.
The tour was so successful that the band had to add many additional dates to the US arena tour, as tickets sold out very quickly. Their US tour in 1985 out-grossed every artist that year except Bruce Springsteen.

Helen Kate Shapiro (born 28 September 1946) is an English pop/jazz singer and actress. She is best known for her 1960s UK chart toppers, "You Don't Know" and "Walkin' Back to Happiness".
Shapiro was born at Bethnal Green Hospital in the East End district of Bethnal Green, London. Her early childhood was spent in a Clapton council house in the London borough of Hackney, where she attended Northwold Primary School and Clapton Park Comprehensive School until Christmas 1961. She is the granddaughter of Russian Jewish immigrants; her parents, who were piece-workers in the garment industry, attended Lea Bridge Road Synagogue. The family moved from Clapton to the Victoria Park area of Hackney, on the Parkside Estate, when she was nine. "It was, and remains, a beautiful place," she said in a 2006 interview.
Although too poor to own a record player, Shapiro's parents encouraged music in their home (she had to borrow a neighbour's player to hear her first single). Shapiro played banjolele as a child and sang with her brother Ron occasionally in his youth club jazz group. She had a deep timbre to her voice, unusual in a girl not yet in her teens: school friends gave her the nickname "Foghorn".
"Never Have I Ever", also known as "I've Never…" or "Ten Fingers", is a drinking game.
The verbal game is started with the players getting into a circle. Then, the first player says a simple statement starting with "Never have I ever". Anyone who has done what the first player has not must drink. Play then continues around the circle, and the next person makes a statement. An additional rule – uncommon, but beneficial to the game –is that if there is no one taking a drink, then the one who said the particular "I have never…" must take a drink. This rule often forces the players to strategize more and makes for less disposable/pointless suggestions.
A further variation holds that whenever only one person is drinking, that person must give a detailed account of why they are drinking. Another variation of this game involves putting up five or ten fingers, putting one down whenever something mentioned has been done. Those who end up putting down all of their fingers must take several successive drinks.
Gene Francis Alan Pitney (17 February 1940 – 5 April 2006) was an American singer-songwriter, musician, and sound engineer.
Pitney charted 16 Top-40 hits in the U.S., four in the Top 10. In the UK he had 22 Top-40 hits, and 11 singles in the Top Ten. He also wrote the early 1960s hits "Rubber Ball" recorded by Bobby Vee, "He's a Rebel" by the Crystals, and "Hello Mary Lou" by Ricky Nelson. In 2002, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Pitney was born in Hartford, Connecticut, and grew up in Rockville, now part of Vernon, Connecticut. His early influences were Clyde McPhatter, country-blues singer Moon Mullican and doo-wop groups like the Crows. He attended Rockville High School, at which he was named "the Rockville Rocket", and where he formed his first band, Gene & the Genials. Pitney was an avid doo wop singer and sang with a group called the Embers. He made records as part of a duo called Jamie and Jane with Ginny Arnell (who in late 1963 had a solo hit, "Dumb Head"), and in 1959 recorded a single as Billy Bryan.
Demetri Evan Martin (born May 25, 1973) is an American comedian, actor, artist, musician, writer, and humorist. He is best known for his work as a stand-up comedian, being a contributor on The Daily Show, and his Comedy Central show Important Things with Demetri Martin.
Martin was born on May 25, 1973 to a Greek American family in New York City, New York, the son of nutritionist Lillian and Greek Orthodox priest Dean C. Martin (now deceased). He grew up in Toms River, New Jersey, and has a younger brother named Spyro.
Martin graduated from Yale University in 1995. During his time there, he wrote a 224-word poem about alcoholism as a project for a fractal geometry class, which became a well known palindromic poem. He was also a member of the Anti-Gravity Society, whose members juggle objects on Sunday evenings on Yale's Old Campus.
Although Martin was accepted into Harvard Law School, he went to New York University School of Law after he received a full scholarship. Martin withdrew from law school before the start of his final year, opting to pursue comedy over finishing his Juris Doctor.

Gene Pitney - Not Responsible - Year Song Released 1963 Please don't look at me with hungry lips. No, no, no please don't thrill me with you fingertips. No. no, no please don't say the sweet things that you say. Because I get carried away. And then I'm. Na-na-na, not responsible. Na-na-na, not responsible. I can't answer for the things I do. I said I'm. Na-na-na, not responsible. Na-na-na, not responsible. 'Cos I'm so in love with you. Well once again now. When you look at me with loving eyes. Yeah, yeah, yeah you take me so close to paradise. Well ,well now please don't tempt me with your special charms For I'll just fall into your arms. And then I,m Na-na-na, not responsible. Na-na-na, not responsible. I can't answer for the things I do. Well I said I'm a-Na-...

"Not Responsible" was a great minor hit for the multi-talented pop vocalist Gene Pitney. In the early 1960s, Mr. Pitney owned the charts - and he could do no wrong, with each release easily entering the top 100 (most often the top 20!) The man had a completely unique voice, and he often harmonized double-tracked with himself - the results were always dynamite! Pop singing at it's very best! This song was arranged and conducted by Jerry Ragavoy.
I've taken in all you bring
An ever-moving stream of dramatic evolution
And I've taken in what's happening
And poisoned the well you drink from with
An experienced solution
And I'm not responsible (not responsible)
For what happens when you are gone
You're breathing in all you've seen
An imaginary comfort to create intoxication
And if you only knew what thoughts I had inside
And so good am I to hide
Your heart would hurt and turn to stone just like mine
And I'm not responsible (not responsible)
For what happens when you are gone (I'm not responsible)
You're so irresistable (not responsible)
And it happens when you are gone (I'm not responsible)
No love
No trust
Just lies
Lies!
You've been hidden from the truth
Can't reveal these things to you
And I know that there's no way to change it
And I feeel for what I do
Taking innocence from you
Is just so easy and I just can't stop it
No love
No trust
Just lies
