Plot: Consisting of three vignettes that explore the impact of Hip Hop music and culture on the community of the South Bronx. Through these disparate but interweaving stories what unfolds is a balanced portrayal of the influence of Hip Hop music and culture on this community from the vantage points of these individuals. The film particularly focuses on how the music shapes the community and conversely how the community shapes the music.

Plot: An assassin, Drake, wakes up after being badly beaten after killing a man. His torturer is found in an adjacent room beating Drake's girlfriend, Christine, but is stopped by Drake before he is able to do any worse. After beating the torturer and rescuing Christine, they make a harrowing escape only to find their kidnapper with a few goons. Christine sees that the man behind their capture is her brother, Miguel. Miguel is repulsed to find out that she is dating the assassin and it comes out that the man was the siblings' brother, Juan.

The suitcase of cash is racing to the drop, but traffic delays the driver. Armed operatives are en route to where they think José is captive. Plot: Danny and Ray are two street wise cops in Chicago. When they are almost killed on a case, they are forced to take a vacation by their captain. Key West offers a substantial change over frozen Chicago. They decide to quit and open a bar in Key West. Upon returning, they find that Julio, the drug dealer who nearly killed them has made bail and is trying to complete a giant drug deal. They decide to complete their case against Julio before quitting, but then begin being careful. Their effectiveness drops as they find they can't operate the way they did before if they don't have the edge of a long time commitment.

Plot: In the spring of 1942, following the blockade-run that took General Douglas MacArthur and his staff from the Philippines to the safety of Australia, the survivors of a bombed-and-sunk PT Boat make their way to shore. The skipper tells his men they have top priority passes if they can make their way to Del Monte airfield 200 miles away, and advises them to split up into pairs. Ensign Chuck Palmer and crewman Jim Mitchell finally reach Tacloban on the island of Leyte. In an American mission school, Palmer meets Jeanne Martinez, who is urgently trying to see the officer in charge with a request for help for a relative, and he also learns that the Japanese have captured the airfield. Palmer tries to make Australia by a boat that sinks in a tropical storm and has to swim for shore. All through 1942, Palmer and the other survivors dodge enemy patrols while living off of the land.
