Ada Derana is an e-news portal that started as a news bulletin on TV Derana.
In the highly competitive news broadcasting space, Derana has built probably the most unbiased and comprehensive news property on offer “Ada Derana” – with a news team of 100 people geared to deliver the most accurate and timely information. Ada Derana aims to be the number one News brand among Sri Lankans in terms of loyalty by reaching them through every possible opportunity.
In late 2007, Ada Derana entered into a partnership with Dialog Telekom, the largest mobile phone operator in Sri Lanka, to send breaking news alerts to all Dialog mobile subscribers as Short Text Messages (SMS). Currently, instant news alerts can be obtained through all the leading operators.
Ada Derana had its beginnings as the conventional television news bulletin aired on TVDerana. Operating in a cluttered market and a challenging political environment, the Ada Derana news brand was honed to represent brand values of reliability, speed and accessibility. Ada Derana is characterised by its speed of news delivery and accessibility via multiple trilingual channels such as television, radio, web, instant SMS alerts, IVR, video alerts and social media such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. In most of these forms, Ada Derana is available on a multilingual platform providing greater accessibility to consumers both in Sri Lanka and across the world. The style of the news property has been customised to suit each of the delivery media, taking note of the nature of consumption.
Prime Time is a current affairs programme airing on RTÉ One on Monday (22.30) and Tuesday and Thursday nights (following the RTÉ Nine O'Clock News).
First broadcast on RTÉ One in 1992, Miriam O'Callaghan has been its main presenter for over fifteen years. O'Callaghan's fellow presenter David McCullagh, a former political correspondent with RTÉ News. Only one show per week is broadcast during the summer months. In January 2013, The Frontline's format and presenter were subsumed into Prime Time as part of a re-branding exercise at RTÉ News and Current Affairs. Pat Kenny soon left RTÉ. Later the Monday slot which had been 'The Frontline' was again split from Prime Time, Claire Byrne left to present the newly branded 'Claire Byrne Live' programme in the slot.
Ireland's current affairs and major societal issues are dealt with, often with politicians, journalists, commentators and industry representatives giving their views live in the studio or via satellite link-up from RTÉ's regional studios and abroad. Two to three stories tend to be covered, with a pre-recorded piece from a reporter followed by a studio discussion. Sometimes the full programme will be devoted to one topic, and may consist entirely of an in-depth documentary piece or investigation from a single reporter. Extended or additional editions are broadcast on occasions such as a general elections or major international events, such as the Paris Attacks. Typically there is no audience attendance, although during these special editions audience involvement and attendance may be included.
CBC Prime Time News was a Canadian nightly newscast which aired on CBC Television from 1992 to 1995.
For the previous ten years, the CBC's nightly newscast, The National, had aired at 10 p.m., and was followed by a 40-minute newsmagazine package called The Journal, which was hosted by Barbara Frum. However, following Frum's death in early 1992, the CBC took the opportunity to revamp its flagship newscast.
The CBC's live coverage of the Charlottetown Accord referendum results on October 26, 1992 effectively acted as a soft launch for the show, which formally debuted on November 2. With Peter Mansbridge and Pamela Wallin as equal cohosts of a package which replaced both The National and The Journal, Prime Time News combined news and Journal-style features into a single integrated program which aired at 9 p.m.
Despite the change, The National was not entirely discontinued; concurrently with the change on the main network, the CBC's separate all-news channel CBC Newsworld adopted the title for its own prime time news program.
Crossbreed was a six-member heavy metal band from Clearwater, Florida, formed in 1996. They were signed with Artemis Records before being dropped from the label in 2003. The band released two EPs and three full-length albums before disbanding in 2010.
Crossbreed was formed in 1996 as a four-man band consisting of James Rietz, Chris Nemzek, Charlie Parker & Travis Simpkins. A year later they added keyboardist Jason Troph who left in 1998 to front the Orlando-based band Irrational. He was replaced by Phil "Flip" Marquardt. Their self-produced album .01 was released in 1998 with only 1,000 copies made; the album featured a cover version of "Wicked Game" by Chris Isaak.
In 1999, Dan "DJ" Izzo (then under the moniker "D.J. Balistick") joined the band as their DJ/2nd Keyboardist. It was at this time that he began developing their stage show using black lights and glow paint, which helped bring the band to the attention of the music industry.
