Selex ES was a subsidiary of Finmeccanica S.p.A., active in the electronics and information technology business, based in Italy and the UK, and formed in January 2013, following Finmeccanica's decision to combine its existing SELEX Galileo, SELEX Elsag and SELEX Sistemi Integrati businesses. From 1 January 2016, the activities of Selex ES merged into Finmeccanica’s Electronics, Defence and Security Systems Sector. In particular, Selex ES’s activities have been organised in three Divisions within the sector: Airborne & Space Systems, Land and Naval Defence Electronics and Security and Information Systems.
In July 2003 Finmeccanica and BAE Systems signed a joint venture agreement with the intention merging their avionics, C4ISR and communications businesses to create three joint venture partnerships under the name Eurosystems. The difficulties of integrating the companies in this way however led to a re-evaluation of the proposal. BAE's 2004 Annual Report states that "recognising the complexity of the earlier proposed ... transaction with Finmeccanica we have moved to a simpler model."

Radar warning receiver (RWR) systems detect the radio emissions of radar systems. Their primary purpose is to issue a warning when a radar signal that might be a threat (such as a police speed detection radar) is detected. The warning can then be used, manually or automatically, to evade the detected threat. RWR systems can be installed in all kind of airborne, sea-based, and ground-based assets (such as aircraft, ships, automobiles, military bases). This article is focused mainly on airborne military RWR systems; for commercial police RWR systems, see radar detector.
Depending on the market the RWR system is designed for, it can be as simple as detecting the presence of energy in a specific radar band (such as police radar detectors). For more critical situations, such as military combat, RWR systems are often capable of classifying the source of the radar by the signal's strength, phase and waveform type, such as pulsed power wave or continuous wave with amplitude modulation or frequency modulation (chirped). The information about the signal's strength and waveform can then be used to estimate the most probable type of threat the detected radar poses. Simpler systems are typically installed in less expensive assets like automobiles, while more sophisticated systems are installed in mission critical assets such as military aircraft.
Oto Melara was a subsidiary of Finmeccanica S.p.A., active in the Defence sector, with factories in Brescia and La Spezia. The mountain pack howitzer Model 56, in service throughout the world, and the 76mm naval gun, adopted by 53 navies and installed on over 1,000 naval vessels, are among Oto Melara's best-known weapons since World War II. From 1 January 2016, the activities of OTO Melara merged into Finmeccanica's Defence Systems Division, within the Electronics, Defence and Security Systems Sector.
It was founded in 1905 as a joint venture of Vickers and Terni Steelworks, Cantiere navale fratelli Orlando and Cantieri navali Odero. Investment was also provided by Guiseppe Orlando and Aliferi Odero. During World War I, Vickers Terni produced many weapons with calibre 40 mm and upwards. In 1929 the company was renamed Odero Terni Orlando with the abbreviation OTO. During World War II, mostly heavy guns for battleships were produced.
In 1953 the company took the name OTO Melara.
Rob Edmunds is a Test solutions team leader at Selex ES. His interest in maths and design at school, along with his love of gadgets and electronics led him into engineering. This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. If you were blind, how would you find the new coffee shop that everyone is talking about? Google maps, right? But today’s digital navigation systems often fall short of providing the information people with visual disabilities need to travel independently. Now, imagine a world where your smartphone could sense the environment and provide rich, spatially accurate information just in time and just in place. Imagine a world where accessibility is the norm, and we all have the freedom to get where we want to go. This is my vision, and we are on the cusp of making it a reality. Megan Lawrence (Portland, OR USA) is the founder and CEO of AccessGeo, an accessibility consulting firm. Her work focuses on appl...
A super simple easy way to adjust the height of your coilover suspension. This particular suspension is HSD coilovers on a Nissan Silvia s13. However, it should be very similar on all other cars.

http://www.euronews.net/ France and Italy have signed an agreement to construct a high-speed rail link between Lyon and Turin. The line, which is due to be completed in 2023, will cut travel time between Paris and Turin to four hours, compared to the current seven hours. The 8.5 billion-euro project will be funded by France and Italy with the EU providing 40 per cent of the money. The project has sparked outrage on the Italian side of the border where many claim traffic levels are falling and the construction will hurt the environment.
This can be easy to miss if you don't take more than five second to look for it. I know this, because it happened to me.
