In the late 1870s, Yelkanum contributed portions of his land to be used in the construction of a Nooksack Indian Methodist School by Clara and Rev. John Tennant (after whom Tennant Lake is named). In 1893 Tennant died of a stroke, and ten years later Yelkanum married his Lummi wife Clara Tennant. However, three months after their marriage Clara died of pneumonia.
Yelkanum's death was announced in The Bellingham Herald on April 27, 1911. At the time he lived with his granddaughter Emily Williams.
James Edward Billie, known as “Chief Jim Billie” (born March 20, 1944) (Seminole) is a politician and Chairman of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, elected by nearly 60 percent of the voters in 2011. He was elected to successive terms as Chairman/President of the Seminole Tribe of Florida (1979-2001), serving 22 years in the "longest tenure of any elected leader in the Western Hemisphere, other than Fidel Castro." He was impeached in 2001 because of financial issues related to sexual misconduct.
In 2005 Sarasota Magazine called Chief Billie “the most powerful American Indian leader of the past century.” He is best known for leading the tribe when it won a United States Supreme Court 1996 decision upholding the sovereign rights of tribes to conduct gaming on their reservations. In 1999, a song on his album, Alligator Tales, was nominated for a Grammy award.
Jim Billie was born in poverty at a camp in Dania, Florida near the Tamiami Trail. His mother Agnes Billie was Seminole of the Bird clan; his father was J.W. Barnett, a white sailor who went to Europe during World War II, never knowing that Agnes was pregnant. She named the boy Whookipee, meaning "He who has been taken away". Shortly after Billie's birth, Seminole medicine men intended to kill the infant because he was a half-breed, by leaving him to die in the Everglades; they strongly discouraged intermarriage with whites. His mother Agnes and Betty Mae Tiger, a young Snake clan woman, intervened and saved his life by threatening to report them to the reservation superintendent. (Tiger and her brother's lives had been threatened in the late 1920s when they were young, as their father was white.
James McDaniel Hopper (September 1, 1919 – January 23, 1982) was a professional baseball player. He was a right-handed pitcher for one season (1946) with the Pittsburgh Pirates. For his career, he compiled an 0-1 record, with a 10.38 earned run average, and one strikeout in 4⅓ innings pitched.
He was born and later died in Charlotte, North Carolina at the age of 62.
A Chief of Police, also known as Police Chief or sometimes shortened to just Chief, is the title typically given to the top official in the chain of command of a police department, particularly in North America. Alternate titles for this position include Police Commissioner, Colonel (according to Rhode Island State Police), Police Superintendent, and Chief Constable. In contrast to a Sheriff (who is generally elected by the voters of a county, except in the states of Rhode Island and Hawaii), a Chief of Police is usually a municipal employee who owes his allegiance to a city or town. Some states have both an appointed and an elected Chief of Police (Louisiana). In some jurisdictions the head of the police commission is the leader of the police and holds a position analogous or similar to the one described here, in this case he is referred to as Commissioner. The New York City Police Department has both a Police Commissioner and a Chief, formerly called the Chief Inspector, now called the Chief of Department. In Louisiana, a Chief of Police may serve as the Chief of Police, Marshal, and Constable for a city. The fraternal organization International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) is an organization often associated with many Chiefs of Police.

PROUD DDS FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/Philippinesgovernment/ LIKE AND SHARE VIDEO: https://www.facebook.com/Philippinesgovernment/ Duterte has expressed his desire to build on the stellar accomplishments of the administration of outgoing president Benigno Aquino III, particularly the latter’s good governance initiatives and critical structural reforms that transformed the Philippines from being “the sick man of Asia” into “Asia’s rising tiger.” Of his ten-point socioeconomic agenda revealed on Monday, June 20, for example, his first point was to continue and maintain current macroeconomic policies, including fiscal, monetary and trade policies. Chief Jim Billie - Halapata Chobee - Big Alligator From user Okeehadjo: In Florida there is a tribe of Indians called the Seminole. This man singing the song used to be our "Chief" for a good number of years. His name is James (Jim) Billie. The chorus of this song is in the Seminole language. The verses are in English. The title shows both English and Seminole. Halapata Chobee is Seminole for Big Alligator. Halapata means alligator. Chobee means big. What the Seminole chorus says in English is: Big Alligator, he's mysterious. Big Alligator, he's amphibious. Big Alligator, he's dangerous. Big Alligator, Big Alligator. The reason I am taking the time to send you the explanation of this song is that I have been a member of the Seminole Tribe of Florida since birth. By help...
