Fem (magazine)

Fem is a major feminist magazine and the first Latin American one. The idea for it was conceived in 1975 during a conference in Morelia, Michoacán, and it was established in the following year by Alaíde Foppa and Margarita García Flores. In 2005, its director, Esperanza Brito de Martí, reported that the print version was being discontinued due to high costs and from then on, the magazine would only be published online. The magazine focuses on social and political issues, art and cinema. It contains news, poetry and short stories. Topics range from domestic violence to health care, women in the student movement, AIDS, prostitution, and Chicanas.

Lucky (In My Life)

"Lucky (In My Life)" is a song by Italian group Eiffel 65. It was first released in June 2001 as the third single from their album, Contact!. The song reached the top 40 in Austria, Canada, and Italy.

Release history and promotion

Eiffel 65 first performed the song live at Festivalbar in 2001.

The Italian, Canadian and Spanish vinyl releases included 5 mixes of the song. On the German and French vinyl releases, however, it had one less mix of the song than the Italian and Spanish vinyl releases, which was the "Under Deal Trance Mix" by Alex Topuntoli. Some of the CD releases for the single include only two versions of the song, which is the radio edit and a DJ Vortronik radio cut. Some CD releases have six mixes of the song, and other CD releases include all 8 mixes.

"Lucky" is the first track of the album "Contact!". Seven of the mixes of the song were featured on the 2x release of the album, and the Gabry Ponte radio mix of the song is the second track of the iTunes release of the album.

Lucky (Nada Surf album)

Lucky is the fifth album by alternative rock band Nada Surf. It was released on Barsuk in 2008.

Recording

Frontman Matthew Caws said, "I feel like it is a pretty heavy record, and that is a product of John Goodmanson, the guy who made it because even the songs that were even moderately rocking – now that they are mixed and mastered, they feel like they are really kickin’ even when they are relatively quiet, so that’s thanks to him. I think it is a little heavier than Let Go, but it’s not as heavy as The Proximity Effect."

In 2007, the band issued a statement asking for testimonies revolving around the word "Lucky", in order to include them to the album artwork.

Release

The album was met with moderate success and favorable reviews. Lucky reached #82 on the Billboard 200. The single, "See These Bones", was listed by The Times as one of London's Best Songs of 2008, and described it as "2008's most overpoweringly propulsive and gloriously euphoric song".

Details

The song "See These Bones" premiered on the Anti-Hit List Podcast on October 20, 2007. Due to a misquotation of Matthew Caws, the album was first expected to be called Time for Plan A.

One Hundred and One Dalmatians

One Hundred and One Dalmatians, often written 101 Dalmatians, is a 1961 American animated adventure film produced by Walt Disney Productions and adapted from Dodie Smith's 1956 novel of the same name. It is the 17th animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics series. It stars Rod Taylor and Cate Bauer as, respectively, the voices of Pongo and Perdita, its canine protagonists, and Betty Lou Gerson as the voice of Cruella de Vil, its antagonist who kidnaps their puppies.

The film was originally released to theaters on January 25, 1961, by Buena Vista Distribution. Upon release, it was a box office hit, successfully pulling the studio out of the financial setbacks caused by Sleeping Beauty, a costlier production released two years prior. Aside from its box office revenue, its commercial success was due to the employment of inexpensive animation techniques—such as using xerography during the process of inking and painting traditional animation cels—that kept production costs down. It was reissued to cinemas four times: in 1969, 1979, 1985 and 1991. The 1991 reissue was the twentieth highest earning film of the year for domestic earnings. It was remade into a live action film in 1996.

WWE Diva

Diva is a term used by WWE, an American professional wrestling promotion, to refer to its female performers. The term is applied to women who appear as wrestlers, managers or valets, backstage interviewers, or ring announcers.

History

Beginnings: The Moolah Days

In 1983, the Fabulous Moolah, who was the NWA World Women's Champion and legal owner of the title, joined the WWF and sold them the rights to the title after they disaffiliated from the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and recognized her as the first WWF Women's Champion. Additionally, the WWF also recognized Moolah as having been champion ever since first winning the title from Judy Grable in 1956 and disregarded other reigns or title losses that occurred during the title's existence in the NWA. Thus, The Fabulous Moolah's reign was considered to have lasted 27 years by the promotion. WWF also introduced the WWF Women's Tag Team Championship with Velvet McIntyre and Princess Victoria recognized as the first champions after also defecting from the NWA.

Diva (magazine)

DIVA is a leading lesbian magazine in the United Kingdom, published monthly. It was launched in 1994 by Millivres Prowler Group Ltd., who also produce Gay Times. The current editor is Jane Czyzselska, who has held the position since 2004. It includes many articles dedicated to lesbian and bisexual social issues, and candid interviews with gay icons and prominent lesbians alike. In November 2008, DIVA was published under the name "The Souvenir Issue" for the purpose of celebrating the 150th issue by including the cover pages of every issue that had been published since April 1994.DIVA has a dating website which was launched in 2013.

Inspired by the Everyday Sexism Project, Diva editor Jane Czyzselska launched the Everyday Lesbophobia campaign in 2013 to document instances of lesbophobia.

Diva is a 1981 French thriller film directed by Jean-Jacques Beineix, adapted from the novel Diva by Daniel Odier (under the pseudonym Delacorta). It is one of the first French films to let go of the realist mood of 1970s French cinema and return to a colourful, melodic style, later described as cinéma du look.

The film made a successful debut in France in 1981 with 2,281,569 admissions, and had success in the US the next year grossing $2,678,103. The film became a cult classic and was internationally acclaimed.

Plot

Young Parisian postman Jules is obsessed with classical music; he is particularly obsessed with Cynthia Hawkins, a beautiful and celebrated American opera singer who has never allowed any of her performances to be recorded.

Jules attends a recital at the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord in Paris, where Hawkins sings the aria Ebben? Ne andrò lontana from the opera La Wally. He illicitly makes a high-quality bootleg recording of her performance using a Nagra professional tape-recorder. Afterwards, he steals the gown she was wearing from her dressing room.
