Arizona (i/ɛrɪˈzoʊnə/; /ærɪˈzoʊnə/) (Navajo: Hoozdo Hahoodzo; O'odham: Alĭ ṣonak) is a state in the southwestern region of the United States. It is also part of the Western United States and of the Mountain West states. It is the sixth largest and the 14th most populous of the 50 states. Its capital and largest city is Phoenix. Arizona is one of the Four Corners states. It has borders with New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, California, and Mexico, and one point in common with the southwestern corner of Colorado. Arizona's border with Mexico is 389 miles (626 km) long, on the northern border of the Mexican states of Sonora and Baja California.
Arizona is the 48th state and last of the contiguous states to be admitted to the Union, achieving statehood on February 14, 1912. It was previously part of the territory of Alta California in New Spain before being passed down to independent Mexico and later ceded to the United States after the Mexican–American War. The southernmost portion of the state was acquired in 1853 through the Gadsden Purchase.
Northern Arizona is an unofficial, colloquially-defined region of the U.S. state of Arizona. Generally consisting of Coconino County, Yavapai County, Navajo County, and Apache County, it is geographically dominated by the Colorado Plateau, the southern border of which in Arizona is called the Mogollon Rim. It is home to dozens of mountain ranges, including the state's highest, the San Francisco Peaks. It also contains most of the state's natural lakes. In the West lies the Grand Canyon, which was cut by the flow of the Colorado River while the land slowly rose around it. The elevation ranges from 2200 feet at the bottom of the Grand Canyon to 12,633 feet at Humphrey's Peak. In the central portion lies the Painted Desert, consisting of sedimentary rocks eroded by water and wind, exposing thick, brightly colored layers. In the East are the very large Hopi and Navajo reservations, parts of which overlap, leading to occasional territorial disputes. In this area travelers may tune their radios to hear native-language broadcasts. Native Americans make up the average of 47.87% in Coconino County, Navajo County, and Apache County. Dozens of Anasazi, Sinagua, and other ruins of the ancient Puebloan people can be found throughout the region.
Join me as I explore parts of northern Arizona with a look at downtown Flagstaff's character, the desert in bloom, rugged, arid, martian like countryside. Stay tuned for part two of this video showcasing the Little Colorado and Grand Canyon as sunset approaches. This is the second half of an HD movie I filmed of Sedona, Arizona and vicinity. This disc includes;Cathedral rock, Airport Vortex, Bell Rock Vortex, Montezuma Castle, Montezuma Well, Tuzigoot, Flagstaff, Prescott, Sunset Crater and Wupatki. I made it, and turned it into a Blu-ray disc, for a disabled friend. She can't go on Arizona trips like this anymore, so I thought I'd bring it to her. This half has breathtaking HD views from the Sedona Vortexes. I tried to create the feeling of actually visiting the vortexes and surrounding places of interest. I don't promise that it's perfect or flawless, but I'm pretty happy with it. As with the other Sedona movie, you might want to mute the sound and play you're own favorite tunes in the background.
In this video I'll take you just North of Winslow, Arizona out to the Little Colorado River and show you some real quicksand! When I was a kid we used to get our motorcycles stuck in this. Some of the locals have had livestock get stuck in it too. It's not like what you see in the movies by any means, but it's still interesting to see. Enjoy!

Arizona, land of cowboys and Indians and Wild West towns plus, among its many natural wonders, the all pervasive colour red as displayed by the awe-inspiring rock formations of its mighty canyons.A thousand years ago the highly-cultured Anasazi and Hohokam Indians lived here, planting maize and vegetables in the meagre valleys and building walled towns into the cliffs of the canyons. They used the natural environment, protected caves in natural rock walls, which were accessible only by simple wooden ladders. For the past century, scientists from all over the world have investigated evidence that a gigantic meteorite crashed here, leaving behind it a huge crater: Met...

In this travel video guide to Scottsdale, Arizona, I travel to Scottsdale, the so-called "Miami Beach" of Arizona. Located just to the east of Phoenix, Scottsdale is home to some of the city's best restaurants, bars, hotels and attractions. I start of my travel in Scottsdale visiting downtown, otherwise known as "Old Town," the very walkable central part of the city full of small shops and a booming restaurant scene. It is also here that the city's roots can be traced back to the original farmers and settlers that called this otherwise barren part of the desert home back in the early 1900's. I then head east into Tonto National Park to go kayaking down the Salt River with Arizona Outback Adventures (AOA), the area's premiere outdoor adventure company. Next, I visit Taliesin West, the...
