A Man Alone (film)
A Man Alone is a 1955 American Western directed by and starring Ray Milland (making his directorial debut). The supporting cast includes Mary Murphy, Ward Bond, Raymond Burr, Lee Van Cleef, and Alan Hale, Jr.. The story involves a man (Milland) who stumbles onto the aftermath of a stagecoach robbery in the Arizona desert in which there were no survivors.
Plot
On foot after the mercy killing of his horse, Wes Steele finds a stagecoach and a number of dead passengers. He takes a horse and rides to Mesa.
A corrupt banker, Stanley, and partner Joiner discuss their stagecoach holdup with Clanton, their hired gun. Joiner, upset over the deaths, begins to leave, but Clanton shoots him in the back.
Stanley tells townspeople the stranger Steele is responsible for the robbery and murder. Steele hides in the cellar of a house. It turns out to belong to the sheriff, Gil Gorrigan, who has yellow fever. His daughter Nadine is caring for Gil and the home is quarantined.
Steele nurses the sheriff back to health after Nadine collapses from fatigue. A grateful Nadine says her dad worries about her but has left her well-provided for the future. She and Steele kiss.

"A Man Alone" is the fourth episode of the science fiction television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
Plot
Odo has become worried at the number of new people arriving at the station due to the newly discovered Bajoran wormhole. While talking with Quark in his bar, Odo observes a man he recognizes and demands he leave the station. The man refuses and the two get into a fight that is broken up by Sisko. Odo explains to Sisko that the man is Ibudan, a smuggler of goods to Bajorans during the Cardassian Occupation. Though considered a hero by some, Odo states that Ibudan let a young girl die when her parents could not afford the smuggled goods, and later killed a Cardassian officer. He has since gone free after the end of the Occupation. Sisko warns Odo that he cannot take action against Ibudan without any evidence of a crime being committed.
Later, Ibudan is found dead in one of Quark's holosuites. One of Ibudan's friends reports to Sisko and Kira that Ibudan was afraid Odo would kill him. No foreign DNA is found at the scene of Ibuban's murder, and the general populace of the station start to become suspicious of Odo, a shapeshifter without any DNA. However, Sisko does order a formal investigation and temporarily relieves Odo as head of security. Bashir discovers that Ibudan was performing medical experiments on a strange material in his quarters despite having no training as a doctor or scientist. Bashir continues to observe the samples in Sick Bay.

I mean…RIGHT?
What kind of gameplay experience does Fate create, and what might the designers’ motivations reveal about its impact? As I attempt to answer these questions in this video, I will almost certainly alienate at least 200 of you, the loyal army of… What shall we call you?… Fate Weavers???
We also explore the broader motivations behind game design, using examples like Blades in the Dark, EZD6, Between the Skies, and some others that I can't remember just this moment. Why do some games emphasize cinematic storytelling, while others prioritize challenge, accessibility, or intricate simulation?
Finally, we tackle the question: When does perfection become too perfect? From the uncanny valley of systems to the quirks and complexities that give games their soul, this video delves into how imperfection might be the key to connection. A Man Alone is a 1955 American Western film directed by Ray Milland (credited as R. Milland) starring Ray Milland, Mary Murphy and Ward Bond. The story involves a man (Milland) who stumbles onto the aftermath of a stagecoach robbery in the Arizona desert in which there were no survivors.
Plot
On foot after the mercy killing of his horse, Wes Steele finds a stagecoach and a number of dead passengers. He takes a horse and rides to Mesa.
A corrupt banker, Stanley, and partner Joiner discuss their stagecoach holdup with Clanton, their hired gun. Joiner, upset over the deaths, begins to leave, but Clanton shoots him in the back.
Stanley tells townspeople the stranger Steele is responsible for the robbery and murder. Steele hides in the cellar of a house. It turns out to belong to the sheriff, Gil Corrigan, who has yellow fever. His daughter Nadine is caring for Gil and the home is quarantined.
Steele nurses the sheriff back to health after Nadine collapses from fatigue. A grateful Nadine says her dad worries about her but has left her well-provided for the future. She and Steele kiss.
He ventures outside, where he confronts and coldcocks Stanley, causing a lynch mob to form. Gil gives the wanted Steele a chance to escape. It turns out the sheriff has been on the take from Stanley, so now a noose is tossed around a tree for him. Steele returns to rescue him. He kills Clanton, and then Stanley is placed under arrest. Told he should leave this town, Steele decides to stick around.

Today, we’re diving into the Fate Core System—a game often hailed as the ultimate system for streamlined, narrative-driven play. But is perfection always a good thing? While some laud Fate’s thoroughness and flexibility, others find it strangely…too? polished? Is there such a thing as a system being *too* good? Surely it is better for a game to be too good than to suck, right?
I mean…RIGHT?
What kind of gameplay experience does Fate create, and what might the designers’ motivations reveal about its impact? As I attempt to answer these questions in this video, I will almost certainly alienate at least 200 of you, the loyal army of… What shall we call you?… Fate Weavers???
We also explore the broader motivations behind game design, using examples like Blades in the Dark, EZD6, Between the Skies, and some others that I can't remember just this moment. Why do some games emphasize cinematic storytelling, while others prioritize challenge, accessibility, or intricate simulation?
Finally, we tackle the question: When does perfection become too perfect? From the uncanny valley of systems to the quirks and complexities that give games their soul, this video delves into how imperfection might be the key to connection. At this point, Man Alone wants me to admit that he is eating fudge striped cookies while dictating the video description from the couch, and he just told me" just sort of write some fluff or whatever, they'll stop reading after like the second paragraph… In fact you could actually write in the description that I said this." In this "VISUAL PODCAST" I *try* to talk about Jungian Cognitive Functions and relate it to SoloRPGs. I think I succeed pretty well in the first part but then in the second part I dunno...kind of ran out of steam. I just didn't feel like I was able to make the point I wanted to make! However, I DID try my...BEST!!!
