The Late Late Show

The Late Late Show, with its title often shortened to The Late Late, is an Irish chat show. It is the world's second longest-running chat show, after the American The Tonight Show. Perceived as the official flagship television programme of Ireland's public service broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ), it is regarded as an Irish television institution (even abroad) and is broadcast live across two hours plus in front of a studio audience on Friday nights between September and May at 21.30.

Having maintained the same name and format continuously, The Late Late Show was first broadcast on Friday, 6 July 1962 at 23.20 and in colour from 1976. Originating as temporary summer filler for a niche Saturday night audience (airing at 23.30), it later moved to its current home on Friday night schedules. The format has remained largely the same throughout—dialogue, comic sketches, musical performances, discourse on topical issues. It has influenced attitudes of the populace towards approval or disapproval of its chosen topics, directed social change and helped shape Irish societal norms. It averages 650,000 viewers per episode and has consistently achieved RTÉ's highest ratings.

Matthew Paige "Matt" Damon (/ˈdeɪmən/; born October 8, 1970) is an American actor and filmmaker. Damon's leading role in The Martian won him the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. He has also received BAFTA, Golden Globe, and SAG nominations for Behind the Candelabra (2013) and three Emmy nominations for producing Project Greenlight

General Levy

General Levy Pronounced Lee-Vee (born Paul Levy, 28 April 1971, London, England) is an English ragga deejay, regularly employed on studio tracks by drum and bass DJs. He is best known for the track "Incredible" which he recorded with M-Beat. A remixed version of this reached number 8 in the UK Singles Chart in 1994.

Biography

General Levy's first major releases were with the independent record label, Fashion Records, who signed a distribution deal with London Records for the re-releases of the tracks he had recorded. He had earlier releases with the record producers Lloydy Crucial and Robbo Ranx (later of BBC 1xtra), but these were mainly tracks that were hits on the underground dancehall scene. General Levy was ostracized by the UK jungle scene in 1994, due to comments he made relating to his collaboration with M-Beat on "Incredible". He had claimed in an interview with The Face that "I run jungle at the moment". Many argued that certain artists were lambasted, while other artists are able to communicate their feelings without any backlash. "Incredible" was featured in the film Ali G Indahouse.

Releasing a string of standout EPs on labels like Culprit, Diynamic and Hive Audio, they are also regulars in the world’s best clubs and this year are residents at Solomun's Diynamic night at Cova Santa. Their version of the ‘The Very Next Day’ repackages it as a trippy, melody rich house roller with deep, groaning and moody basslines underpinning the whole thing. It grows increasingly chaotic as things roll on, taking dancers ever deeper down the rabbit hole in the process. Next up is Eric Volta, a MFRR regular and masterful synth craftsman who also releases well received sounds on 1trax, No.19 Music and Visionquest. His ‘Navigate the Untold Cosmos remix’ is a fantastically moving thing that initially casts you adrift in a celestial and heavenly sphere of beat-less ambience. Eventually it coalesces into an engaging, ticking house number with synths spraying about of their own free will and vocals bleeding in to add more layers of heavenly atmosphere. It’s hugely sensitive and emotive and will make all the hairs on your body stand right on end. Last but not least to remix is Speaking Minds, a project born in 2012 from the union of 2 Italian guys with a common passion for music: they have appeared on Noir Music, had a standout EP on MFRR earlier in 2014 and have had support from the likes of Tale of Us. Their remix of ‘Citadel’ is similarly spine tingling in the way it so patiently builds on spaced out kicks. A sombre, undulating synth line adds a sense of drama and the airy vocals are allowed plenty of space to breath up top. It’s the sort of peak of your set track that really brings everyone together in magically moody fashion. This moving package is a fantastic way to revisit one of the MFR label’s biggest hits this year and proves they know exactly who to call when it comes to choice remixes.
