Jill Bolte Taylor (/ˈbɒlti/; born May 4, 1959) is an American neuroanatomist, author, and inspirational public speaker. Her personal experience with a massive stroke, experienced in 1996 at the age of 37, and her subsequent eight-year recovery, influenced her work as a scientist and speaker. It is the subject of her 2006 book My Stroke of Insight, A Brain Scientist's Personal Journey. She gave the first TED talk that ever went viral on the Internet, after which her book became a NY Times bestseller and was published in 30 languages.
Bolte Taylor's training is in the postmortem investigation of the human brain as it relates to schizophrenia and the severe mental illnesses. For her book and public outreach related to strokes, in May 2008 she was named to Time Magazine's 2008 Time 100 list of the 100 most influential people in the world. "My Stroke of Insight" received the top "Books for a Better Life" Book Award in the Science category from the New York City Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society on February 23, 2009 in New York City.
http://www.ted.com Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massive stroke. As it happened -- as she felt her brain functions slip away one by one, speech, movement, understanding -- she studied and remembered every moment. This is a powerful story about how our brains define us and connect us to the world and to one another.

Our brain is made up of cells and every ability we have is the product of those cells. What is going on during our teenage years that accounts for the way teenagers feel, think and behave? This presentation will focus on the neurological transformation of the brain that occurs during the teenage years. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to cer...

Harvard brain scientist Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor awoke the morning of December 10, 1996 to the alarming signs of a stroke. Through the eyes of a brain scientist, she watched her mind slowly deteriorate. Fortunately she lived to tell the story, but it was clear that the person she was before died that morning. It took her eight years to fully recover. With a second chance at life, Taylor shares her insight on how she lives a more fulfilling life by stimulating both her left and right side of the brain. Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor addresses the Class of 2016 at Butler University's Spring Commencement.
Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor is a brain scientist who experienced a stroke and wrote about her wisdom in her book "My Stroke of Insight". In this interview, she is calls for a balanced brain model. The left hemisphere of our brain notices our differences, not our similarities. We give this power because it is the language part of the brain which talks to us. We live in an imbalanced brain society which values thinking over feeling, the domain of the right brain. This brings us stress, and leads to a tendency to miss the present moment, which is where our joy is. More than 99% of our genetic material is similar to each other. We are One human family. http://www.telecounsellingforwomen.com http://www.facebook.com/danyadaccash
Palestra "My Stroke of Insight" da Dra.
Neuroanatomist, Jill Bolte Taylor, explains the differences in the way the left and right hemispheres of the brain process information; the fact that people have a preference for one over the other; and how to value these preferences to form a cohesive team in an organisation.
http://lainneshappymonday.blogspot.com Happy Monday - Jill Bolte Taylor - A Stroke of Insight - TED A teaser of Jill Bolte Taylor's original video on TED http://www.ted.com/talks/view/id/229 Jill Bolte Taylor got a research opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: She had a massive stroke, and watched as her brain functions -- motion, speech, self-awareness -- shut down one by one. An astonishing story.

Jill Bolte Taylor - Stroke of insight (Greek Subtitles) PART 1 To εγκεφαλικό επεισόδιο της διορατικότητας. Read your free e-book: http://copydl.space/mebk/50/en/B00AROHS4U/book The God of the Left Hemisphere explores the remarkable connections between the activities and functions of the human brain that writer William Blake termed 'urizen' and the powerful complex of rationalising and ordering processes which modern neuroscience identifies as 'left hemisphere' brain activity. The book argues that Blake's profound understanding of the human brain is finding surprising corroboration in recent neuroscientific discoveries, such as those of the influential Harvard neuro-anatomist Jill Bolte Taylor, and it explores Blake's provocative supposition that the emergence of these rationalising, law-making, and 'limiting' activities within the human brain has been recorded in the earliest Creation texts, su...

I haven't even finished reading the book yet!! I may need to do another video when I do. I can't recommend it enough. I've touched on a few subjects in this video that, upon playback, I see I will need to expand on and clarify in future blog posts or videos ;) Stay tuned for those.
