Tyrone Anthony Wheatley, Sr. (born January 19, 1972) is the running backs coach of Michigan and a former professional American football player who played 10 seasons in the National Football League (NFL) and was one of the most successful high school and collegiate athletes in Metropolitan Detroit history. In high school, he was a member of state-champion teams in both track and field and football, and he was named Michigan's track and field athlete of the year and football athlete of the year in the same academic year. He earned All-America track honors in both high school and college. Following his graduation as one of Michigan's best high school athletes, he attended the University of Michigan on an athletic scholarship and earned first-team All-Big Ten Conference honors on Big Ten Champion football and track teams.
At the University of Michigan, Wheatley earned the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year Award during the 1992 football season. In the Michigan Wolverines' post-season bowl game, he was named the Most Valuable Player for his performance in the team's Rose Bowl victory. Wheatley continued his track success as well, earning first-team All-Big Ten Conference and All-American honors. He ranks among the Wolverines' all-time rushing leaders in numerous categories, and his name appears in several places in the Big Ten football record book. He was named to All-Big Ten teams in football and track and field a total of four times, and he earned portions of seven Big Ten championships (two team awards for football, one team award for indoor track, one award for 110 meter hurdles, and three awards for individual football statistical performances).
Wheatley may refer to:
County Tyrone (from Irish: Tír Eoghain, meaning "land of Eoghan") is one of the six counties of Northern Ireland. Adjoined to the south-west shore of Lough Neagh, the county covers an area of 3,155 km² (1218 sq mi) and has a population of about 177,986, with its county town being Omagh. It is also one of the thirty-two traditional counties of Ireland and is within the historic province of Ulster.
Tyrone is the eighth largest of Ireland's thirty-two counties by area and tenth largest by population. It is the second largest of Ulster's nine counties by area and fourth largest by population. The county is no longer used as an administrative division for local government purposes, but retains a strong identity in popular culture.
The name Tyrone is derived from Irish Tír Eoghain, meaning "land of Eoghan", the name given to the conquests made by the Cenél nEógain from the provinces of Airgíalla and Ulaid. Historically, it was anglicised as Tirowen or Tyrowen, which are closer to the Irish pronunciation.
A Linebacker (LB or Backer) is a playing position in American football and Canadian football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up approximately three to five yards (4 m) behind the line of scrimmage, behind the defensive linemen, and therefore "back up the line." Linebackers generally align themselves before the ball is snapped by standing upright in a "two point stance" (as opposed to the defensive linemen, who put one or two hands on the ground for a "three point stance" or "four point stance" before the ball is snapped). The goal of the linebacker is to provide either extra run protection or extra pass protection based on the particular defensive play being executed. Another key play of the linebacker position is blitzing. A blitz occurs when a linebacker acts as an extra pass rusher running into any exposed gap. When a blitz is called by the defense, it is mainly to sack or hurry the opposing offense's quarterback.
Before the advent of the two platoon system with separate units for offense and defense, the player who was the team's center on offense was often, though not always, the team's linebacker on defense. Hence today one usually sees four defensive linemen to the offense's five or more. Most sources claim coach Fielding H. Yost and center Germany Schulz of the University of Michigan invented the position. Schulz was Yost's first linebacker in 1904 when he stood up from his usual position on the line. Yost was horrified at first, but came to see the wisdom in Schulz's innovation.William Dunn of Penn St. was another Western linebacker soon after Schulz.

The last time an opening kickoff was returned for a touchdown by a Michigan Wolverine was in 1992. Interesting to note that it took Tyrone Wheatley only 12 seconds to cover 99 yards while weaving in and out of the Houston Cougars defenders. Man he was fast!!

The Denard Robinson play starts first, but synced it up so both are at the 12-yard line, on the run at the same time. Wheatley has the edge at first, possibly because he had a better head of steam going. But if you watch it closely, when Wheatley hits the 50, Robinson is about a yard and a half behind, but they hit the 30 at the same time. So Denard closed that gap over the course of 20 yards. Not definitive ... maybe Wheatley started striding it out before Denard did. Both obviously very fast. Visit http://www.MaizeandBlueNews.com and follow us on Twitter at @MaizeBlueNews
Michigan's Tyrone Wheatley makes the catch and runs in for the touchdown against Illinois in the first quarter.
In my opinion, Tyrone Wheatley was the best Michigan tailback to combine size, speed, power and, as this clip demonstrates, versatility catching the ball out of the backfield.
This is an obscure mid 90's hip hop song with Havoc of the rap group Mobb Deep and former Oakland Raiders football player Tyrone Wheatley. This song appears on the album NFL Jams. Basically it's a hip hop meets sports type of album, where the football players try to rap.

I don't want to fight
Every single night
Everything I want is in your eyes
You and me go back
To places I don't know to care
The spoils of all I got were left for scraps
Don't let me say this
But you're no worse than me
It's crazy
We are the real
If real ever was
And just because
We are the real
They feel we have enough
We are the real
'Cause someone gave us up
I want to be there when you're happy
I want to love you when you're sad
Can't stand the morning rain?
Get out I'll take your place then
Can't stand the blazing sun?
Then close your eyes you'll see
The angel dust
I don't want to be
Anything believed
A million watts of sound can't compare
Come along you'll see the world
The pulse ripples, the crowd unfurls
The current starts to flow and then you're on
Oh it's white hot soul they want
To sing for
We are the real
If real ever was
And just because
We are the ruin
Of every living soul
We are surreal
Cause someone gave us up
Don't break the oath
I want to love you when you're happy
Don't break this oath
I want to be there when you're sad
Freeze-frame the pouring rain
We are the real
As real as any ghost
So easy now
We are the real
In ever living soul
Oh don't they know?
Can't stand the blazing sun?
Can't stand the morning rain?
Oh get out I'll take your place again
I don't want to be alone
I don't want to be alone
I don't want to be alone at all
If it's a white hot soul they want
