Lake Lanier (officially Lake Sidney Lanier) is a reservoir in the northern portion of the U.S. state of Georgia. It was created by the completion of Buford Dam on the Chattahoochee River in 1956, and is also fed by the waters of the Chestatee River. The lake encompasses 38,000 acres (150 km2) or 59 square miles of water, and 692 miles (1,114 km) of shoreline at normal level, a "full summer pool" of 1,071 feet (326 m) above mean sea level. It was named for poet Sidney Lanier, and was built and is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. It is patrolled by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (GDNR).
The lake is in Hall, Forsyth, Dawson, Gwinnett, and Lumpkin counties, split about 60%, 30%, 5%, 4%, and 1% respectively, filling the valley into numerous small arms and fingers. The former thalweg of the Chestatee and the Chattahoochee south of it form the county line between Hall and a tiny corner of Gwinnett to the east, and Dawson and Forsyth to the west.

Educational video on the construction of Buford Dam and Lake Sidney Lanier in Buford, GA. US Army Corps of Engineers.
Nestled in the foothills of the Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains and nurtured by the Chattahoochee and Chestatee Rivers, Lake Sidney Lanier is named for Sidney Lanier, whose admiration of the area’s scenic beauty inspired him to compose his famous “Song of the Chattahoochee”. Lake Lanier is one of America’s favorite lakes. With several million visitors annually enjoying its recreational facilities, it has been the most visited Corp of Engineers project in the nation. One reason for for the lake’s popularity is its proximity to metropolitian Atlanta, Georgia. A well-developed road network surrounds Lake Lanier, with several highways crossing the main body. Visitors can enjoy the city of Atlanta and, in the space of a short drive, can lose themselves in the tranquility at Lake Lanier.

Lying in the northern part of the U.S. state of Georgia, sprawled out among the foothills of the North Georgia Mountains for 26 miles, 75 meters (258 feet) deep at its deepest point and with an area of 150 km2 (59 square miles) of water and 1,114 km (692 miles) of shoreline, is Lake Sidney Lanier, commonly referred to as simply Lake Lanier. Today we are going to show you some tips and tricks for how to catch striper, our friend who is a fishing guide on Lake Lanier, Captain Mack invited us to come fishing with him today. We will be using big parker spoons to try to catch these striper. It was a windy day so I am providing commentary over the video explaining what we were doing. The depth finder is showing a school around 50 ft so we will drop the rig to about 60 and really rip it back up reeling as fast as we can to about 30 ft then dropping back down to 60ft. The idea is to get the bait down below the school about 10ft and reel as fast as you can to trigger the striper to want to bite. We also trolled using a umbrella rig, the boat was moving around 3 MPH and the line was out around 115ft behind the boat. We had two rig...

Since we had to cancel our summer travel, I'm kinda stuck at home and can't fight the urge to fly the Phantom 3, so I went over to War Hill Park, one of the parks near our house and just flew around the park. Just a beautiful day in the mid 80s with low humidity today so I headed over there just after 8 pm.
