Lilly is a music album by Italian singer-songwriter Antonello Venditti, released by Rca Italian in late 1975.
All the songs are written by Antonello Venditti. It was the first album by Venditti to peak the Italian charts. The long ballad "Lo stambecco ferito", telling the story of an Italian corrupted entrepreneur who flees to Switzerland with all his money, is inspired to Felice Riva, who, after leading the Rizzoli group to bankrupt (with the loss of 8,000 jobs), had escaped to Lebanon to avoid the Italian justice. The title track is dedicated to a drug-addicted woman.
Lilly is a 1958 Indian Malayalam film, directed by F Nagoor and produced by HT Pictures. The film stars Prem Nazir, Kumari Thankam in lead roles. The film had musical score by Viswanathan-Ramamoorthy.
In association football, channels is the name given to certain areas of the pitch, created by the space between players and groups of players.
There are two types of channels, vertical (between full backs and their closest centre back), and horizontal (between defence, midfield and attack).
The channels are subjectively described (there is no specific marking of the pitch) as the areas in which wide-playing strikers look to receive the ball, being a vertical strip extending from the half way line to the goal line, and close to, but not too near the edge of the pitch, just inside the touchline, an area more commonly occupied by a winger.
By receiving the ball in the channel, a striker hopes to confuse the opposing defence, as he is between the full-back and centre-back, and makes them unsure as to who should mark or close down the striker, this thinking time allows the striker more time on the ball, and also distracts the defence from other players who are making runs.
In computing, a channel is a model for interprocess communication and synchronization via message passing. A message may be sent over a channel, and another process or thread is able to receive messages sent over a channel it has a reference to, as a stream. Different implementations of channels may be buffered or not, and either synchronous or asynchronous.
Channels are fundamental to the process calculus approach to concurrency, and originated in communicating sequential processes (CSP), a formal model for concurrency, and has been used in many derived languages, such as occam, and Limbo programming language (via Newsqueak and the Alef programming language). They are also used in the C programming language threading library libthread, and in Plan 9 from Bell Labs, which uses libthread, as well as in Stackless Python and the Go programming language.
Channels modeled after the CSP model are inherently synchronous: a process waiting to receive an object from a channel will block until the object is sent. This is also called rendezvous behaviour. Typical supported operations are presented below using the example of the libthread channel API.
A price channel is a pair of parallel trend lines that form a chart pattern for a stock or commodity. Channels may be horizontal, ascending or descending. When prices pass through and stay through a trendline representing support or resistance, the trend is said to be broken and there is a "breakout".
