Waiting staff, wait staff, waitstaff or serving staff are those who work at a restaurant or a bar, and sometimes in private homes, attending customers—supplying them with food and drink as requested. An individual waiting tables is commonly called a server, waitperson, waitress (females only), waiter (referring to males or either gender), or less commonly the 1980s American neologism waitron. Archaic terms such as serving girl, serving wench, or serving lad are generally used only within their historical context. A server or waiting staff takes on a very important role in a restaurant which is to always be attentive and accommodating to the guests. Each waiter follows rules and guidelines that are developed by the manager. The main rule is to always stay busy. Wait staff can abide by this rule by completing many different tasks throughout his or her shift. Such as food-running, polishing dishes and silverware, helping bus tables, and restock working stations with needed supplies.

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) -- It's like Punk'd...but exactly the opposite and way more "warm/fuzzy" inducing.A video going viral on YouTube shows two men leaving big bucks for waiters and waitresses around Orem, Utah and capturing them on hidden camera as they realize how big their tip was. What's the biggest tip you've ever gotten?" one of the men asked some of the wait staff. The biggest response: $100. Upon leaving the restaurant, the man left a stack of money and wrote a note: "I am the new record holder." As they found the money, each server's reaction was a mixture of complete surprise and joy. One server even ran out of her restaurant to find the men to give them a big hug. I freakin' love you guys," she said. Andrew Hales, the video's creator, said he had wanted to do something like t...
If you own or manage a restaurant, a bar or a pub, you do know how unprofessional waiting staff can be frustrating, they can harm your business and sometimes even damage the image of your company. They surely do their best but if they don't know how to deal with wines it is not their fault, it is just a lack of training that can be easily corrected with a basic but professional course. Therefore if it regularly happens without any improvement, you should definitely consider yourself responsable of your frustration. As for many employees being a waiter is often a temporary work condition, it is understandable that companies prefer not to provide expensive courses to train potentially short term personnel. That is why the Wine Notary created a quick and cheap training course about wines ded...
