Judaism (from Latin: Iudaismus, derived from Greek Ἰουδαϊσμός, originally from Hebrew יהודה, Yehudah, "Judah"; in Hebrew: יהדות, Yahadut, the distinctive characteristics of the Judean ethnos) encompasses the religion, philosophy, culture and way of life of the Jewish people. Judaism is an ancient monotheistic religion, with the Torah as its foundational text (part of the larger text known as the Tanakh or Hebrew Bible), and supplemental oral tradition represented by later texts such as the Midrash and the Talmud. Judaism is considered by religious Jews to be the expression of the covenantal relationship that God established with the Children of Israel.

The president of the Philippines has apologized "profoundly and deeply" for his recent comments that caused outrage among Jewish communities around the world. In a speech on Sunday,... Rodrigo Duterte explained he had no intention to derogate the memory of the six million Jews murdered by the Nazis during World War 2... when he said last Friday that he would be happy to kill three million Filipino drug users and peddlers like Hitler slaughtered the Jews. Regarding Duterte's previous comments, the Israeli government said they were "unfortunate." Worldwide Jewish groups, the United Nations and Germany also said the remarks demonstrated a lack of respect for human life. Meet Dan, Benji, Sarah and Samantha, four roommates in Washington, DC, whose paths intersected when they all became Moishe House residents. Today, their home is a center of gravity for young Jews in the community who, like them, want to create and share Jewish experiences with friends. Moishe House is a network of nearly 60 houses in 14 countries that fills a void in the Jewish community created by the growing gap between college years and family life. Every Moishe House is run by a group of 3-5 young adult residents who are provided with rent subsidies and a program budget to host an average of six monthly events for peers in their community. What started as a house for four friends in Oakland, California, to host Shabbat dinners has grown into a global network that provides opportunit...
Speaker: Steven Windmueller Date: July 15, 2010 The Jewish Communities of the Western United States Twenty-five percent of all American Jews live in the Western United States representing a distinctive and growing voice within Jewish life. Different types of Western Jewish communities have emerged, reflecting unique economic and social factors. Western Jews have taken on many of the attributes associated with their region. The pioneering and independent spirit of the region has fostered special Jewish communal and religious models. Experimentation has typified Jewish life in this part of the world. Distance from the "capital" of American Jewry, New York, has led to institutional conflicts that have further separated Western Jewry form the rest of the community. Prof. Steven Windmueller ...

That's the great leader! (September 09 2016)
I'm sure many of you have heard the claim that Jewish communities in Judea Samaria, the West Bank, are an obstacle to peace. I've always been perplexed by this notion. Because no one would seriously claim that the nearly two million Arabs living inside Israel – that they're an obstacle to peace. That's because they aren't. On the contrary. Israel's diversity shows its openness and readiness for peace. Yet the Palestinian leadership actually demands a Palestinian state with one pre-condition: No Jews. There's a phrase for that: It's called ethnic cleansing. And this demand is outrageous. It's even more outrageous that the world doesn't find this outrageous. Some otherwise enlightened countries even promote this outrage. Ask yourself this: Would you accept ethnic cleansing in your s...

Introduction to Judaism and Jewish Communities, by Hasia Diner, of New York University.
Rabbi Yehudah Teichtal, the Rabbi of the Jewish community of Berlin, was welcomed on Tuesday (28.6.2016) by Thomas Oppermann, parliamentary head of the German Social Democratic Party (SDP), the second largest party in Germany, for an official meeting in his offices at the Bundestag. The two discussed the future of Europe and its Jewish communities, in light of the British referendum. Oppermann spoke of the importance of the relations between the Jewish communities and the EU. "It is also important to keep the EU in good constitution because it enables us to have Jewish life in every European country, that can develop from one country to another. Jewish life is a great enrichment to have in Europe, in Israel and all around the world".
