Two young tourists dead, two critical after Pilbara rollover

A horror crash in the state's Pilbara region on Saturday has killed two young tourists and left two more critically injured.

A 24-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman died when the white 1998 Toyota Prado they were passengers in left the southbound Great Northern Highway and rolled about 11.55am, 10 kilometres north of Pardoo.

Smoke covers Perth CBD

Prescribed burns are being carried out today which has covered the CBD in smoke. The smoke is expected to clear overnight. Vision: Nine News Perth.

The 21-year-old woman driving and another 20-year-old female passenger are in critical but stable conditions at Royal Perth Hospital. 

"Occupants of the vehicle were from overseas and their next of kin are yet to be identified. No further details on their identities will be released at this time," police said. 

Major Crash officers are travelling to the region on Sunday to conduct further inquiries. 

The crash brings the WA road toll for 2016 to 151, well past the 128 deaths on WA roads recorded for the state as at this time last year.

WA is only 10 death's shy of last year's total of 161, with more than two months of the year still to go.
