In the memory of Sikh Soldiers of Punjab Regiment belonging to the 8th Indian Division who got martyrdom in the Battle of Monte Cavallara from 03-10-1944 till 10-10-1944, World Sikh Shaheed Military Yadgari Committee, Italy together with the City of Marradi unveils the Sikh Monument on 19-05-2013. Germans were defeated and left the area. This is the 2nd Sikh Monument in Italy of World War 2, First Sikh Monument of Forly was inagurated on 22-09-2011 by the City of Forly and the World Sikh Shaheed Military Yadgari Committee, Italy on 22-09-2011. Sikhs of Italy are paying tribute to their Forfathers who died for the liberation of Italy, according to Sikh Traditions since 2007.
On Saturday 13th August 2011, thousands of Sikhs from all over the World mainly from Europe, gathered at Forli Indian Army War Cemetery in Italy in an inauguration ceremony to reveal the first Sikh military monument dedicated to the Sikh warriors who laid their lives in World War II for the freedom of Europe. President of Shromani Akali Dal Amritsar, Sardar Simranjit Singh Mann came specially from Punjab to attend this historical day.
