Star Wars

Star Wars is an American epic space opera franchise, centered on a film series created by George Lucas. It depicts the adventures of various characters "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away".

The first film in the series, Star Wars (later subtitled Episode IV: A New Hope), was released on May 25, 1977 by 20th Century Fox and became a worldwide pop culture phenomenon. It was followed by the similarly successful sequels The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Return of the Jedi (1983); these three films constitute the original Star Wars trilogy. A prequel trilogy was later released between 1999 and 2005, which received a more mixed reaction from critics and fans, compared to the original trilogy. All seven films were nominated for or won Academy Awards, and were commercial successes, with a combined box office revenue of $4.38 billion, making Star Wars the fourth highest-grossing film series. The series has spawned an extensive media franchise—the Star Wars expanded universe—including books, television series, computer and video games, and comic books, resulting in significant development of the series's fictional universe. Star Wars also holds a Guinness World Records title for the "Most successful film merchandising franchise." In 2012, the total value of the Star Wars franchise was estimated at USD $30.7 billion, including box-office receipts as well as profits from their video games and DVD sales.

Republic

A republic (from Latin: res publica) is a sovereign state or country which is organised with a form of government in which power resides in elected individuals representing the citizen body and government leaders exercise power according to the rule of law. In modern times, the definition of a republic is commonly limited to a government which excludes a monarch. Currently, 147 of the world's 206 sovereign states use the word "republic" as part of their official names; not all of these are republics in the sense of having elected governments, nor do all nations with elected governments use the word "republic" in their names.

Both modern and ancient republics vary widely in their ideology and composition. In the classical and medieval period of Europe, many states were fashioned on the Roman Republic, which referred to the governance of the city of Rome, between it having kings and emperors. The Italian medieval and Renaissance political tradition, today referred to as "civic humanism", is sometimes considered to derive directly from Roman republicans such as Sallust and Tacitus. However, Greek-influenced Roman authors, such as Polybius and Cicero, sometimes also used the term as a translation for the Greek politeia which could mean regime generally, but could also be applied to certain specific types of regime which did not exactly correspond to that of the Roman Republic. Republics were not equated with classical democracies such as Athens, but had a democratic aspect.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

Star Wars: The Old Republic is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) based in the Star Wars universe. Developed by BioWare Austin and a supplemental team at BioWare Edmonton, the game was first announced on October 21, 2008, at an invitation-only press event. The video game was released for the Microsoft Windows platform on December 20, 2011 in North America and part of Europe. Early access to the game began one week before release, on December 13, 2011, for those who had pre-ordered the game online; access opened in "waves" based on pre-order date.

Although not officially disclosed, based on estimates, it is one of the most developmentally expensive games ever made. The game had one million subscribers within three days of its launch, making it the world's "fastest-growing MMO ever", though in the following months the game lost a fair share of its subscriptions. The game has since adopted the hybrid free-to-play business model with remaining subscription option. The game was met with positive reception upon release and has received several updates and expansion packs. Several books and comics based on the game have been released. It is estimated that the game made $139 million in additional revenues, in addition to the subscription income, in 2013.

Legions: Overdrive

Legions: Overdrive, formerly Fallen Empire: Legions, was previously a browser-based sci-fi first-person shooter (FPS) computer game by GarageGames on InstantAction. Announced officially in January 2007, Legions was developed as a "spiritual successor" to Tribes, borrowing many gameplay elements from the series. Credited as the first online browser 3D Based FPS, closed beta testing began in March 2008, with open Beta tests starting in June 2008.

In November 2010 InstantAction was shutdown, while Legions was licensed and picked up by a small group of dedicated users and old interns of the now discontinued InstantAction website, and was re-released as Legions: Overdrive, a stand-alone game that no longer supports or requires in-browser player on December 20, 2010.

Gameplay

Loadouts and Cores

Legions: Overdrive features a total of three different loadouts: Outrider, Raider, and Sentinel. The Outrider is the fastest available loadout, though also the weakest. It can equip just two weapons, along with grenades and a core. It's also the only loadout that can equip the Laser Rifle. The Raider is considered a medium armor and can equip three weapons, as well as grenades and a core. Lastly, the Sentinel is the slowest and heaviest armor available, and also the strongest. It can equip up to three weapons and is the only loadout that can use the Mortar and Cluster Launcher II. Sentinels also have the ability to Instant Overdrive, or iOD.
