The Factory was the name of Andy Warhol's New York City studio, which had three different locations between 1962 and 1984. The original Factory was on the fifth floor at 231 East 47th Street, in Midtown Manhattan. The rent was one hundred dollars per year. Warhol left in 1968 when the building was scheduled to be torn down to make way for an apartment building. He then relocated his studio to the sixth floor of the Decker Building at 33 Union Square West near the corner of East 16th Street, where it remained until 1973. It moved to 860 Broadway at the north end of Union Square. Although this space was much larger, not much filmmaking took place there. In 1984 Warhol moved his remaining ventures, no longer including filming, to 22 East 33rd Street, a conventional office building.
The original Factory was often referred to as the Silver Factory. Warhol had visited Billy Name's apartment, decorated with tin foil and silver paint, and asked him to do the same scheme for his recently leased loft. Silver, fractured mirrors, and tin foil were the basic decorating materials loved by early amphetamine users of the sixties. Name covered the whole factory in silver, even the elevator. Warhol's years at the Factory were known as the Silver Era. Aside from the prints and paintings, Warhol produced shoes, films, sculptures and commissioned work in various genres to brand and sell items with his name. His first commissions consisted of a single silkscreen portrait for $25,000, with additional canvases in other colors for $5,000 each. He later increased the price of alternative colors to $20,000 each. Warhol used a large portion of his income to finance the Factory.

China is home to approximately 1.35 billion people, which makes it the most populous country in the world. The law of supply and demand tells us that since the supply of workers is greater than the demand for low-wage workers, wages stay low. Moreover, the majority of Chinese were rural and lower-middle-class or poor and until the late 20th century when internal migration turned the country's rural-urban distribution upside-down. Immigrants to industrial cities are willing to work many shifts for low wages. China doesn’t follow (not strictly at least) laws related to child labor or minimum wages, which are more widely observed in the West. However, this situation may change. According to the China Labour Bulletin, from 2009 to 2014 minimum wages have almost doubled in mainland China. Shan...

Gregg Wallace is inside one of the world's largest chocolate factories in York to discover how they produce a staggering seven million bars a day. He'll follow the incredible 24-hour journey - from bean to bar - of one of our best-selling chocolates and meet the team of people who work around the clock to keep up with that demand. Cherry Healey gets hands on with the hundreds of workers on a production line in Derbyshire where the millions of chocolate boxes they produce every year are still surprisingly handmade. Historian Ruth Goodman delves through the chocolate archives to find out what it was like working in the factories before the machines took over, and she meets the people who found love on the production line.
We had, without a doubt, the best day ever. It started with coffees on the beach at sunrise. It almost ended with beers on the beach at sunset, but it decided to keep on going and it lead us to a great dinner at a barbecue joint and then lead some of us even further — to a bottle of Jameson, a van full of Canadian women and a night under the stars. Wanna know what happened in between the first sip of coffee and the last tremble of the van? Here’s an edit of Balaram Stack, Yadin Nicol, Ian Crane, Josh Moniz, Noah Wegrich and Ry Craike. Best day ever indeed.
Gregg Wallace gets exclusive access to one of the largest fresh milk processing plants on earth to see how they get milk from cow to carton in less than 24 hours. He reveals how one factory can process 2,000 litres of milk in under a minute and visits the hi-tech British farms where the cows are milked entirely by robots. Cherry Healey discovers how milk is used to make cheese and ice cream on an epic scale and reveals why most people in the world actually can't drink milk - and what makes us unusual in Britain. Historian Ruth Goodman investigates our complicated history with the white stuff and discovers just how tough it would have been to work as a dairy maid.

https://www.expedia.com/Warsaw.d178317.Destination-Travel-Guides For centuries Warsaw has been a center of refinement and knowledge. Its strategic position has also made it one of the most invaded countries in Europe. Shaped by history’s defining events, World War Two, and the closing of the Iron Curtain, Warsaw is a survivor, and has risen from the ashes of war and the shackles of Communism. Its true heart is its Old Town, the site of the Warsaw Uprising, one of the most heroic resistance actions ever seen against the nazis. After the war much of it, such as the opulent Royal Castle, was painstakingly rebuilt. One of the few statues not destroyed by the German army, is the mermaid Syrena, the symbol and protector of Warsaw. Visit St Johns Cathedral and St Anne’s Church, whose interio...

Please subscribe for more great videos! Some quick Airstream facts: •The aluminum-skinned Airstream is based on an airplane fuselage, with rounded corners to help increase gas mileage -- its aerodynamics cuts drag by 20 percent vs. square "white box" trailers. •It takes about 280 human hours to build the average Airstream. •Airstream was the first trailer to have a holding tank, the first ladder frame, the first pressurized water system and was the first fully self-contained travel trailer. •Some innovations were brought directly to Wally, including Frank Sargent's innovative toilet valve that used steam pressure to flush waste into a holding tank. Since 1961, Sargent's Thetford toilets have been used in Airstream models and Thetford is now a major supplier to the RV industry. •Before ...

Highlights include the Clock Tower, Odori Park, Sapporo TV Tower, Tanukijoki Shopping Street, Sapporo Beer Museum, Sapporo Factory Mall, Central Fish Market and Curb Market, Ramen Alley, and Chitose Airport. Sapporo seems peaceful at street level but there are miles and miles of underground passages and shopping malls that bring out the "crowded" feel of larger Japanese cities like Tokyo. Phan Thiet is famed for its fish sauce (nuoc mam). This overpoweringly pungent condiment is quintessential to Vietnamese cuisine. The production process is lengthy and complex. Anchovy-like fish are cleaned and then placed in large vats of brine with layers of salt. Left for eight months to a year, the by-product is drained and then bottled. The annual nuoc mam production in the region totals around 16 to 17 million litres, and the Fasaco factory just outside Phan Thiet accounts for most of this. Travel video about destination Cuba. Basking in the Caribbean sun, the island of Cuba lies between sun and socialism, rumba and revolution. Havana is the capital. In 1553, the Spanish conquerors designated Havana’s harbour as a collection point for ships loaded with gold and silver from the new Spanish colonies and named the settlement, San Cristobal De La Habana.La Bodeguita Del Medio was once Hemmingway`s local and nowhere else is the ‘Mojito’ mixed better: three year old white rum, lime juice, soda, sugar, ice and mint. Whether it be the Teatro Marti, the Old Tobacco Factory, the famous Bacardi house, or the Floridita Bar, everywhere there is a feeling of nostalgia. When the Daiquiri is served, one almost expects Fidel Castro to be sitting at the next table. Pinar Del Rio is a small but...

The factory you're ready to strike
the factory is gonna catch fire
got the gasoline and the match to light
got the stains on your clothes from last night's fight
back door is shut
you pick the lock
pages in a pile as they take the shot
smoking guns, pistols cocked
always ready to kill, ready to stop
anyone who disagrees with a crooked plot
the crooked cops, sirens off
they bust the door, your pour the gasoline on
pages in your hand
they shoot your arm
second bullet hits, but you still respond
you strike the match
your pulse is gone
If nobody sees you, no one will know
save for the priest in the confessional
the mind moves fast but the body moves slow
no time to waste, 'cuz the cops might show
ripping out the pages of the Bible you stole
hide them in a bag with the chemical
courage, man...you're a proffesional
No one was seen, no potential threats
you run to the store, some matches to get
50p is down, your hands are wet
you're nervous now, man...you've started to sweat
face is so white, you can't forget
they've killed everyone who tried to start it
almost there
you see the darkened silloutte of...
