Sinopsis:
Toulouse-Lautrec, el artista tullido, encuentra olvido y amistad entre los artistas del Moulin Rouge. Scrooge
Scrooge is a 1935 British fantasy film directed by Henry Edwards and starring Seymour Hicks, Donald Calthrop and Robert Cochran. Hicks appears as Ebenezer Scrooge, the miser who hates Christmas. It was the first sound version of the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol, not counting a 1928 short subject that now appears to be lost. Hicks had previously played the role of Scrooge on the stage many times beginning in 1901, and again in a 1913 British silent film version.

Harry Chelm e sua moglie Gwendolen si trovano in Italia dove fanno la conoscenza di una seconda coppia, composta da Maria Dannreuther e dal marito Billy. Insieme ad alcuni gangster, decidono di intraprendere una missione per andare in Africa orientale a procurarsi dell'uranio da contrabbandare. Ciò avviene malgrado tra diversi componenti del gruppo persista una certa ostilità o almeno diffidenza.
Parallelamente alle vicissitudini del progetto, le due coppie si ricombinano, per cui Harry diventa l'amante di Maria e Billy quello di Gwendolen. Dopo diverse peripezie durante la traversata sul mare, tra cui la scomparsa di Harry, i protagonisti naufragano sulle coste dell'Africa del Nord, dove le autorità locali li catturano per rilasciarli dopo diverso tempo. Risulta nel frattempo chiaro che per la banda non sarà possibile arrivare a destinazione.
Alla fine della vicenda, le due coppie ritorneranno al luogo di provenienza e si ricongiungeranno, mentre i gangster verranno arrestati.
Nel 1954 il National Board of Review of Motion Pictures l'ha inserito nella lista dei migliori dieci film dell'anno.

Moulin Rouge is a 1952 British drama film directed by John Huston, produced by John and James Woolf for their Romulus Films company and released by United Artists. The film is set in Paris in the late 19th century, following artist Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec in the city's bohemian sub-culture in and around the burlesque palace, the Moulin Rouge. The screenplay is by Huston, based on the novel by Pierre La Mure. The cinematography was by Oswald Morris. This movie was screened at Venice Film Festival 1953 where it won the Silver Lion.

Ralph Kemplen
Ralph Kemplen (8 October 1912 – 4 April 2004) was a British film editor with more than fifty film credits between 1933 and 1982. Kemplen had a long collaboration with director John Huston (1906-1987) on six films between 1951 and 1966. Kemplen also directed one feature film, The Spaniard's Curse (1958).
Kemplen won the BAFTA Award for Best Editing for The Day of the Jackal (1973) and was nominated three times for the Academy Award for Best Film Editing (for Moulin Rouge (1952), Oliver!(1968), and Day of the Jackal).

Humphrey Bogart
Humphrey DeForest Bogart (/ˈboʊɡɑːrt/; December 25, 1899 – January 14, 1957) was an American screen actor whose performances in iconic 1940s films noir such as The Maltese Falcon, Casablanca, and The Big Sleep earned him the legacy of cultural icon.
Bogart began acting in 1921 after a hitch in the U.S. Navy in World War I and little success in various jobs in finance and the production side of the theater. Gradually he became a regular in Broadway shows in the 1920s and 1930s. When the stock market crash of 1929 reduced the demand for plays, Bogart turned to film. His first great success was as Duke Mantee in The Petrified Forest (1936), and this led to a period of typecasting as a gangster with films such as Angels with Dirty Faces (1938) and B-movies like The Return of Doctor X (1939).
Bogart's breakthrough as a leading man came in 1941 with High Sierra and The Maltese Falcon. The next year, his performance in Casablanca (1943; Oscar nomination) raised him to the peak of his profession and, at the same time, cemented his trademark film persona, that of the hard-boiled cynic who ultimately shows his noble side. Other successes followed, including To Have and Have Not (1944), The Big Sleep (1946), Dark Passage (1947), and Key Largo (1948), all four with his wife Lauren Bacall; The Treasure of the Sierra Madre (1948); In a Lonely Place (1950); The African Queen (1951; Oscar winner); Sabrina (1954); and The Caine Mutiny (1954; Oscar nomination). His last film was The Harder They Fall (1956).

Sinopsis:

Harry Chelm e sua moglie Gwendolen si trovano in Italia dove fanno la conoscenza di una seconda coppia, composta da Maria Dannreuther e dal marito Billy. Insieme ad alcuni gangster, decidono di intraprendere una missione per andare in Africa orientale a procurarsi dell'uranio da contrabbandare. Ciò avviene malgrado tra diversi componenti del gruppo persista una certa ostilità o almeno diffidenza.
Parallelamente alle vicissitudini del progetto, le due coppie si ricombinano, per cui Harry diventa l'amante di Maria e Billy quello di Gwendolen. Dopo diverse peripezie durante la traversata sul mare, tra cui la scomparsa di Harry, i protagonisti naufragano sulle coste dell'Africa del Nord, dove le autorità locali li catturano per rilasciarli dopo diverso tempo. Risulta nel frattempo chiaro che per la banda non sarà possibile arrivare a destinazione.
Alla fine della vicenda, le due coppie ritorneranno al luogo di provenienza e si ricongiungeranno, mentre i gangster verranno arrestati.
Nel 1954 il National Board of Review of Motion Pictures l'ha inserito nella lista dei migliori dieci film dell'anno.
