In common law systems, a superior court is a court of general competence which typically has unlimited jurisdiction with regard to civil and criminal legal cases. A superior court is "superior" relative to a court with limited jurisdiction (see lower court), which is restricted to civil cases involving monetary amounts with a specific limit, or criminal cases involving offenses of a less serious nature. A superior court may hear appeals from lower courts (see court of appeal).
The term "superior court" has its origins in the English court system. The royal courts were the highest courts in the country, with what would now be termed supervisory jurisdiction over baronial and local courts. Decisions of those courts could be reviewed by the royal courts, as part of the Crown's role as the ultimate fountain of justice. The royal courts became known as the "superior courts", while lower courts whose decisions could be reviewed by the royal courts became known as "inferior courts". The decisions of the superior courts were not reviewable or appealable, unless an appeal was created by statute.
Superior Court Episode #1058. Ralph Edwards Productions. My favorite because I was cast at "Sam Fox" the rape victim's husband (non-speaking role).

Bibb County Superior Court Judge Verda Colvin brings a courtroom full of “Consider the Consequences” participants to tears and all she does is tell the truth. While the teens met in a courtroom with Judge Colvin, she asks “What do you want to do?” The judge goes on to tell them in the courtroom “You’re special. Stop being disrespectful to your parents. Care about your future. Be somebody. Anybody can be nothing. Be something. Care about yourselves. Do it. The only person stopping you is you. Do you understand me?”
BEHOLD!!! The flagrant abuse of the word THREATENED. A simple cyclist and citizen journalist is to be denied my civil rights. But more to the point see how this upper middle class mostly white demographic can ONLY THINK ABOUT THEMSELVES! HOW THEY FEEL! AND TO HELL WITH YOUR POOR PROLETARIAT MINORITY LIVES! There's something else I want to point out about this interaction. For all the gun violence done TOO BLACK PEOPLE, for all the police lives that have been lost it will FOREVER BE THE CAMERA THAT COPS MOST FEAR! It is the motto of this citizen journalist to SHOOT FOOTAGE NOT BULLETS! Do that and you will strike fear of truth far more than any gun could ever do.

An independent union representing nearly 400 Superior court workers in Santa Clara County have been on strike for 8 days for living wages and also human rights. Workers have not had a pay raise in 7 years and face homelessness and some are forced to get public services because of their low pay in Silicon Valley. Many also commute two and three hours to work because they cannot afford to live in the San Jose area. The average price of a house in Santa Clara county is $1 million and the average salary of the court clerks $55,000 forcing more and more into becoming homeless. The independent Superior Court Professional Employees Association was formed only two years ago and this strike is important for all workers particularly in the South Bay. Superior Court Judge - (Northern District) Debate Chris Phelps (I) Jim Carmichael
6:33 Opening Statement 23:33 Cross Examination 42:20 Direct Examination My name is Derek Ciulla and I am currently a 3L at Suffolk University Law School. This trial was my final for my Trial Advocacy class. I represent the defendant, Merle Rausch, who has been charged with murder. The prosecution had to prove that Merle Rausch did not act in self-defense and that he murdered William Jones in the first degree. I am proud to say that we won the trial, as the jury came back with a verdict of Not Guilty - Self-defense.
