Reports from the public reach record numbers

Record numbers of WA residents are contacting Crime Stoppers to report their crime concerns. More than 150 people per day on average made reports in August.

For the first time, over 5,000 contacts were received in a month, comprising 3,420 answered phone calls and 1,588 ‘contacts other than calls’ in August.

Forty years ago in 1976, a police detective in Albuquerque in the US State of New Mexico was becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of information coming from the public about a murder at a petrol station. Greg MacAleese believed apathy and fear of retribution by local residents was hindering the investigation.

Tasteful support from Grill'd customers

Staff at the Grill’d restaurant in Mount Lawley recently selected Crime Stoppers WA as one of the community groups to benefit from their Local Matters program.

Local Matters is a community donation program at Grill’d, which gives back $500 to the local community every month from each of their restaurants.
