How to roll out code in an efficient way...
It is usual to have several steps that code needs to go through before it is available to customers. For a typical service that runs in the cloud you have:
Build:
• listen to code changes in git
• compile
• unit-test
• package
• upload binary somewhere
Bake:
• create server/container image from binary
Deploy test:
• deploy the image
• Run tests against test environment
• checks if the deployment to test is ok
• ...
The mix of tools involved in this process often make it hard to make a smooth deployment pipeline where you can see how it is all connected and figure out where the waste is. Spinnaker from Netflix is a system for handling pipelines across various tools and environments (like AWS, GCE, Kubernetes, etc.)
This session will go through how we are solving these challenges with Spinnaker. We will share our experiences, current status and plans. If you don't know Spinnaker don’t worry, we will do an overview for you. We will also talk about the strategies we choose to use in order to keep the transition from old systems to Spinnaker as smooth as possible.

Flying a Spinnaker Singlehanded on a Carter 3/4 Ton IOR 33' Sloop. I use a Raymarine ST2000 Tiller Autohelm to steer when I'm up on the foredeck. I don't know of any other method to sail downwind reliably other than an Autopilot/helm.
During the day, the winds did pick up while I had the chute up and was in the middle of a gybe. The Autohelm was not able to catch every wind shift and I rounded up a few times... so, they're not perfect.
disclaimer: I'm not a pro, I don't have sailing my chute solo down to perfection, I wasn't trying for speed, just practicing how to do it. Hopefully this video helps other singlehanded or shorthanded sailors realize you can fly a chute solo.

Spinnaker
A spinnaker is a special type of sail that is designed specifically for sailing off the wind from a reaching course to a downwind, i.e. with the wind 90°–180° off bow. The spinnaker fills with wind and balloons out in front of the boat when it is deployed, called flying. It is constructed of lightweight fabric, usually nylon, and is often brightly coloured. It may be optimised for a particular range of wind angles, as either a reaching or a running spinnaker, by the shaping of the panels and seams. Some types of spinnaker can be carried by the side of the boat, but still in front of the mast. This is called "flying a shy spinnaker", and is used for reaching.
The spinnaker is often called a kite, or a chute (as in cruising chute) because it somewhat resembles a parachute in both construction and appearance. This should not be confused with the spinnaker chute which is a hull fitting sometimes used for launching and recovering the spinnaker. A purported etymology has the first boat to carry this sail being a Cowes yacht named Sphinx, from which "Sphinx's Acre" and eventually "Spinnaker".
