CHINA NAVAL -has been growing largely in the few years. -About a dozen of new destroyers and frigates have been deployed annually . -And a significant increase of submarines have also emerged (no pun intended) definitely strong in numbers JAPANESE NAVAL - has always been strong with hi tech american weapons and firing systems. -Has built the worlds largest submarine and -also has two heli-carriers . Definitely a formidable force when measured in quality. Naval CONCLUSION Basically quantity vs quality. But let's not forget quantity is a quality of its own. Japanese warships will have a significant advantage against chinese ones in a 1v1, but has no chance against a fleet of cheap and durable chinese vessells. Japanese submarines can be countered by chinese ones(which also has a few dozen of Russian subs ) Japanese heli carriers aren't very effective in a naval combat. They are mostly used for reconnaissance and short distance strikes. The chinese Liao Ning is basically a floating trash can . It's purpose is mostly for training and is a reference for future carrier designs. CHINESE AIRFORCE -has also grew in quantity and quality, out numbering the japanese in a 5v1 . -missile technology isn't top tier , but definitely catching up -anti air weapons mostly from Russia . Which are pretty darn effective such as the s4000 anti air missile. -fifth generation jets making progress, such as the j20 , j31 ( basically replicas of the f22 and f35 respectively). still a important asset. Especially the new developed j18 VTOL -Helicopters are closing the gap , but the wz10 is a replica of the French TIGER attack chopper. JAPANESE AIRFORCE - lagging behind, it's main fighter -F15j is a decade old, and is in a disadvantage against modern fighters. -missile technology is pretty good , (as it is mostly from the US) - anti air weapons also from the US - fifth generation jets are from the US (f35) but still making progress on "self designed " stealth fighters such as the Atd -X shin shin ( which is built according to the f35 blue print) - helicopters are well made , but are also from the US AIRFORCE CONCLUSION - china is getting the upper hand in quality and quantity. But the japanese are getting new toys from the us to counter the threat . All other japanese assets are from the US. And most of China's assets are from Russia . CHINESE LAND FORCES. - definitely strong and capable. - chinese tanks out number the japanese tank in vast numbers - largest infantry in the world. - atgms are mature and well developed. Such as the hj-8 -manpads are also mature and can be compared to US ones. - artillery is spot on and also vast in quantity. - ballistic missiles can fuck shit up 5340 times JAPANESE LANDFORCE -well trained and has experience from combat. - tanks are strong but are short in numbers - infantry don't really have a chance compared to china - atgms are pretty damn effective ( cuz they're from the US) - manpads are top tier ( stingers . Which is also from the US) - artillery has the capability to be a strong asset. -ballistic missiles can't fuck shit up. ( because they are a self defense force, duhh) LAND CONCLUSION - Japan is basically fucked if the chinese get to land on their shore.
