Korkeasaaren villieläinsairaalaan huhtikuun alussa Kirkkonummen Porkkalan edustalta tuotu nälkiintynyt harmaahylkeen kuutti on harjoitellut jo muutaman viikon elävien kalojen pyydystystä. Hauska pikkukalojen pyydystysleikki altaassa on tuottanut toivotun tuloksen: kuutti on alkanut itse syödä kalaa. Kuolleet kalat eivät kuuttia kiinnosta, mutta isot elävät kalat herättävät sen ruokahalun.
Tähän saakka kuuttia on ravittu kalamössöllä, joka on annettu letkun avulla suoraan sen mahaan. Alun perin vain kahdeksankiloinen kurttunahkainen rääpäle on saanut näin painoa puolet lisää. Nyt kuutin rasvakerros on niin paksu, ettei se enää palele vedessä. Letkuruokinta lopetettiin ja kuutti jätettiin omilleen altaassa olevien kalojen kanssa, jolloin sen on pitänyt opetella syömään itse. Sillä ei ollut lajitovereita näyttämässä mallia.
Nyt villieläinsairaalan rannassa käydään katiskoilla joka päivä, jotta kuutille saataisiin mahdollisimman paljon elävää kalaa. Sairaala saa lahjoituksena järvestä pyydettyä elävää kalaa, mutta merikala näyttää maistuvan kuutille paremmin. Kun kuutti on syönyt itsensä riittävän pulskaksi, se voidaan viedä takaisin mereen. Aiempina vuosina villieläinsairaalassa hoidetut kuutit ovat päässeet luontoon noin 30-kiloisina.
Korkeasaaren villieläinsairaalassa hoidetaan luonnonvaraisia orpoja ja loukkaantuneita eläimiä. Kuutteja villieläinsairaalaan tuodaan lähes joka kevät, kun niitä löydetään rannoilta emostaan eksyneinä, nälkiintyneinä tai merestä kauas harhautuneina.

Mohamed Chouikh
Mohamed Chouikh (born 1943) is an Algerian film-maker.
Mohamed Chouikh was born at Mostaganem Algeria on the 3rd of September 1943, where he was to become a stage actor with a troupe which later developed into the Algerian National Theatre. In 1965, he acted in one of Algeria's greatest film productions, L'Aube des damnés by René Vautier and Ahmed Rachedi. In 1966 he took the role of Lakhdar (the son) in Mohamed Lakhdar Hamina's highly successful Le vent des Aurès. In 1972 he directed L'Embouchure for Algerian TV, followed in 1974 by Les Paumés (1974). In 1982 he made his first feature-length film, Rupture, and has pursued a writer-director career since then.

Hauska pikkukalojen pyydystysleikki altaassa on tuottanut toivotun tuloksen: kuutti on alkanut itse syödä kalaa. Kuolleet kalat eivät kuuttia kiinnosta, mutta isot elävät kalat herättävät sen ruokahalun.
Tähän saakka kuuttia on ravittu kalamössöllä, joka on annettu letkun avulla suoraan sen mahaan. Alun perin vain kahdeksankiloinen kurttunahkainen rääpäle on saanut näin painoa puolet lisää. Nyt kuutin rasvakerros on niin paksu, ettei se enää palele vedessä. Letkuruokinta lopetettiin ja kuutti jätettiin omilleen altaassa olevien kalojen kanssa, jolloin sen on pitänyt opetella syömään itse. Sillä ei ollut lajitovereita näyttämässä mallia.
Nyt villieläinsairaalan rannassa käydään katiskoilla joka päivä, jotta kuutille saataisiin mahdollisimman paljon elävää kalaa. Around a quarter of a million Bedouins live in Syria’s desert areas. They are nomads who speak Arabic and belong to the Muslim faith and their income is derived from sheep, goats and camels which produce both milk and meat. They travel the desert accompanied by their animals. Further north on the edge of the fertile Al Ghab Ditch is the ancient metropolis of Apameia, one of the most beautiful cities in the Near East. 난 핀란드 사람들의 일상생활을 만나기 위해 올드마켓으로 발걸음을 옮겼다. 1889년에 세워졌다니 100년 넘는 역사를 자랑하는 올드마켓. 이곳에선 다양한 핀란드 전통음식을 맛 볼 수 있다. 호밀빵 위에 생선을 얹은 음식은 가장 대표적인 핀란드 음식. 생선회를 빵과 함께 먹다니... 음식에서라면 꽤 도전정신이 강한 나도 선뜻 시식해볼 용기가 나지 않았다. 바다에 면한 도시니, 생선음식이 많은 건 당연지사... 군것질 하듯 생선을 먹는 아주머니가 눈에 띈다. “이것은 ‘램프리 (장어의 한 종류)’라고 합니다. 저나 많은 핀란드 사람들에게 매우 특별한 의미를 지닌 음식입니다. 저는 어렸을 때 해안가에 살았는데 강에서 바다로 흘러가는 램프리를 특정 시기에 잡곤 했지요. 대개 훈제하거나, 구워서 식초에 담가두었다가 먹는데 그래서 램프리는 저나 핀란드 사람들에게 있어서 특별합니다.”
