On Tuesday, Flux7 debuted Microservices SmartStart, a turnkey offering available through the AWS Service Catalog that’s designed to help companies rapidly deploy and then customize cloud-native applications built from microservices.

Mistake 10: Treating cloud resources like your physical infrastructure

Myth 5: Cloud security is far too difficult to maintain

“The top myth we come across about security is that security in the cloud is more difficult to maintain than on-premise,” said Aater Suleman, Flux7 CEO

Ali Hussain, CTO of Flux7, a DevOps-focused solution provider and AWS partner based in Austin, Texas, told CRN via email that “larger volumes are a much appreciated feature in the present world of growing data.”

Flux7 often has to setup multiple storage volumes for customers in a RAID configuration, which increases the complexity of the system as well as setup and maintenance costs.

For example, today big data is a fairly broad competency, encompassing both stream-based and batch-based data processing for analytics, but Flux7 CEO Aater Suleman said he’d like to see competencies in each of those fields separately. A DevOps competency would also suit Flux7, Suleman said.

Amazon Web Services now wants to host your business email in the cloud.

Amazon WorkMail, a new service released in preview on Wednesday, offers secure, enterprise-grade email that’s compatible with Microsoft Outlook and other popular email clients. Users can choose encryption keys, select the location in which they want their data to reside and pay only for the mailboxes they create.

To prepare, portable infrastructures and portable environments can be built so that they can be taken from developer laptop to on-premises, to public cloud with ease. As more container options come onto the market, and technology leaders endorse the strategy and technologies, even more developers will begin using containers to condense the test, QA [quality assurance], production lifecycle.

Right as Docker prepared to kick off DockerCon Europe 2014, CoreOS — creators of a Docker-powered variant of Linux — came out with a radical suggestion: Docker has problems, so try our container technology instead!
