One of the most popular conspiracy theories about Michael Jackson is that he staged his death to give himself a normal life, but what if he instead did it so he could continue to enjoy a slightly less intrusive celebrity existence?
In 2001 Andrew WK hit the airwaves with the ultimate party song and a half decent album of metal inspired feel-good music, but within a few years things started to get a little strange in the world of Mr WK. At a concert in 2004 someone claiming to be Andrew WK performed on stage at a show for college radio station WSOU, but audience members and security staff recognised the guy in the white outfit and long hair as definitely not Andrew WK. This imposter left the show halfway through, and since that incident even more intriguing details have emerged.
This extremely controversial theory claims that in 1991 major record labels were paid by the owners of private prisons to encourage their rappers to add more gangster elements to their music. The plan was that by promoting the sale of drugs, street violence and criminal activity through music to make it seem appealing, more criminals would be created to fill privately owned corporate prisons.
Whenever a hot new recording artist emerges from nowhere have you noticed how their Youtube videos seem to have millions more hits than they should? Well that’s because record companies pay for popularity.

The mixtape has 10 songs included in it which are all named after Young Thug's "idols" such as Kanye West, Floyd Mayweather and even the deceased gorilla, harambe. This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Brian McTear grew up wanting to be a rock star, but he had one problem: In the late ‘90s, we all just stopped paying for music. How can a hard-working musician or producer make a living now? McTear, with his project Weathervane Music, has stumbled on a way — and it’s both practical and deeply focused on our shared love of music. And yes, his model can work for all kinds of content creators.
Brian McTear is a nationally respected record producer, musician, and owner of one of Philadelphia’s most revered independent recording studios, Miner Street Recordings in Fishtown. He is also the founder of Weathervane Music, a nonprofit arts and culture organization whose mission is to advance independent music and the community that surrounds it. Weathervane is working to develop a program to provide teaching materials for college and university recording programs to change the way future engineers learn to record music. Brian grew up one of seven children in the Chester County suburbs of Philadelphia. Though surprisingly healthy, he and his youngest sister have been treated all their lives for Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disorder that affects the respiratory and digestive systems. In the 18 years since he entered the Philadelphia music community, Brian has worked with countless local artists such as Dr. Dog, Kurt Vile, and The War on Drugs, as well as national artists like Sharon Van Etten and Joan Osborne.

In 2001 Andrew WK hit the airwaves with the ultimate party song and a half decent album of metal inspired feel-good music, but within a few years things started to get a little strange in the world of Mr WK. At a concert in 2004 someone claiming to be Andrew WK performed on stage at a show for college radio station WSOU, but audience members and security staff recognised the guy in the white outfit and long hair as definitely not Andrew WK. This imposter left the show halfway through, and since that incident even more intriguing details have emerged.
This extremely controversial theory claims that in 1991 major record labels were paid by the owners of private prisons to encourage their rappers to add more gangster elements to their music. The plan was that by promoting the sale of drugs, street violence and criminal activity through music to make it seem appealing, more criminals would be created to fill privately owned corporate prisons.
Whenever a hot new recording artist emerges from nowhere have you noticed how their Youtube videos seem to have millions more hits than they should? Well that’s because record companies pay for popularity.

Weathervane is working to develop a program to provide teaching materials for college and university recording programs to change the way future engineers learn to record music. Brian grew up one of seven children in the Chester County suburbs of Philadelphia. Though surprisingly healthy, he and his youngest sister have been treated all their lives for Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disorder that affects the respiratory and digestive systems. In the 18 years since he entered the Philadelphia music community, Brian has worked with countless local artists such as Dr. Dog, Kurt Vile, and The War on Drugs, as well as national artists like Sharon Van Etten and Joan Osborne.

I met up with Dave Duggan from Future Fears/i96 radio to give our opinions on what to do and not do in the music industry. I studied music at the Ballyfermot Rock School. Since then I have been involved in the music scene in Ireland, as a singer/songwriter, performing in rock bands, helping to put on gigs, presenting on music shows and doing a bit of online marketing for events. Dave Duggan is a web & graphic designer by day, a creative director of an internet radio station (i96.ie) by afternoon and a musical rock star by night. He's seen the Industry from both sides and has gained a vast degree in knowledge on how to be somewhat successful within this Industry.
