Judaizers is a term for Christians who insist that their co-religionists should follow the Law of Moses. This term is most widely known from its single use in the Greek New Testament (Galatians 2:14) where Paul publicly challenges Peter for compelling gentile converts to Early Christianity to "judaize", also known as the Incident at Antioch.
This term includes groups who claim the necessity of continued obedience to the Law of Moses found in the first five books of the Christian Old Testament. Members of such groups, notably the Seventh-day Adventist Church, dispute the use of the term because "Judaizers" is typically used as a pejorative.
Most Christians believe that much of the Old Covenant has been superseded, while some modern Protestants believe it has been completely abrogated and replaced with the Law of Christ. The Christian debate over Judaizing began in the lifetime of the apostles, notably at the Council of Jerusalem and the Incident at Antioch. It has been carried on parallel to continuing debates about Paul the Apostle and Judaism, Protestant views of the Ten Commandments, and Christian ethics.
The Law of Moses refers primarily to the Torah or first five books of the Hebrew Bible, traditionally believed to be written by Moses.
The Law of Moses or Torah of Moses (Hebrew Torat Moshe תֹּורַת מֹשֶׁה, Septuagint Greek nomos Moyse νόμος Μωυσῆ) is a biblical term first found in the Book of Joshua 8:31-32 where Joshua writes the Hebrew words of "Torat Moshe תֹּורַת מֹשֶׁה" (translated as "Law of Moses", meaning "instructions of Moses") on the altar at Mount Ebal. The text continues "And afterward he read all the words of the teachings, the blessings and cursings, according to all that is written in the book of the Torah." (Joshua 8:34). The term occurs 15 times in the Hebrew Bible, another 7 times in the New Testament, and repeatedly in Second Temple period, intertestamental, rabbinical and patristic literature.
The usage of the Hebrew term Torah (which was translated into Greek as "nomos" or "Law") as equivalent to the English term "Pentateuch" (from Latinised Greek), meaning the "Five Books of Moses" of the Hebrew Bible, is clearly documented only from the 2nd Century BCE. In modern Hebrew the term Torah (typically translated into English as "instruction") refers to both the first section of the Tanakh and to the "Torah of Moses" itself, the actual regulations and commandments found among the 2nd to 5th books of the Hebrew Bible. Rarely in English "the Law" can also refer to the whole Pentateuch including Genesis, but this is generally in relation to New Testament uses where nomos "the Law" sometimes refers to all five books, including Genesis. This use of the Hebrew term "Torah, 'Law'," for the first five books is considered misleading by bible scholar John Van Seters since the Pentateuch "consists of about one half law and the other half narrative." The adjective "Mosaic" meaning "of Moses" is also found in the description "Mosaic Law" in which case only the actual law, not the five books is intended.
The Incident at Antioch was an Apostolic Age dispute between the apostles Paul and Peter which occurred in the city of Antioch around the middle of the first century. The primary source for the incident is Paul's Epistle to the Galatians 2:11–14. Since Ferdinand Christian Baur, scholars have found evidence of conflict among the leaders of Early Christianity; for example James D. G. Dunn proposes that Peter was a "bridge-man" between the opposing views of Paul and James the Just. The final outcome of the incident remains uncertain resulting in several Christian views of the Old Covenant to this day.
As Gentiles began to convert from Paganism to Christianity, a dispute arose among Christian leaders as to whether or not Gentiles needed to observe all the tenets of the Law of Moses. In particular, it was debated whether Gentile converts needed to be circumcised or observe the dietary laws; circumcision especially being considered repulsive in Hellenistic culture.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church is a Protestant Christian denomination distinguished by its observance of Saturday, the seventh day of the week in Christian and Jewish calendars, as the Sabbath, and by its emphasis on the imminent Second Coming (advent) of Jesus Christ. The denomination grew out of the Millerite movement in the United States during the mid-19th century and was formally established in 1863. Among its founders was Ellen G. White, whose extensive writings are still held in high regard by the church.
Much of the theology of the Seventh-day Adventist Church corresponds to common Evangelical Protestant Christian teachings, such as the Trinity and the infallibility of Scripture. Distinctive teachings include the unconscious state of the dead and the doctrine of an investigative judgment. The church is also known for its emphasis on diet and health, its "holistic" understanding of the person, its promotion of religious liberty, and its conservative principles and lifestyle.

Ave Maria! Today we begin a short series looking at some of the major heresies that have shown themselves throughout the centuries. Knowledge of these errors will be helpful in any apologetic work. The Judaizers were Jewish-Christian converts who held that the Mosaic law still had to be observed. Knowledge of them helps us understand what St. Paul is referring to in his letters when he says things like: For we hold that a man is justified by faith apart form works of the law. Moriel TV is active in the area of discernment withstanding the popular apostasy in the contemporary church that The Word of God warns would precede the return of Jesus. We remain firmly aligned to the conviction that contemporary events in The Middle East , Europe, and in the church make the present time in history different from other eras when people thought it was the last days. We affirm the belief that Jesus is coming again and prophecy of His return is radically being fulfilled increasingly.
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. -Galatians 3:24 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? 12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. 13 For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar. -Hebrews 7:11-13 39 Categories of Activity Prohibited on the Jewish Sabbath 1. The term "Judaizer" is nowhere found in the holy Scriptures, but can be found in history for hundreds of years. Who and "what" are Judaizers? Could this be referring to any commandments in the written Torah, or only applicable to the commandments "of men" such as certain rabbinical oral laws? Let us look to the holy Scriptures to answer such important questions, as in this video message (parts 1 & 2). See Part 2 here: http://youtu.be/cQKcLhJXSEw. Father Jenkins and Tom Naegele talk about some Facebook comments made by SSPX supporters, spreading false information about the SSPV priests and chapels. They then discuss the resurgent phenomenon of people believing we must first convert to Judaism before we can become Catholic and be baptized. This program was recorded 8 June 2017.
Sabbatarians and Judaizers. This video is about the Judaizers and Sabbatarians. Those who insist on adding Old Testament Laws, ordinances and sabbaths to the gospel of Jesus Christ by faith and faith alone.

Judaizers is predominantly a Christian term, derived from the Greek verb ioudaïzō (ἰουδαΐζω "live according to Jewish customs", see Ioudaios). Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you is not irksome to me, and is safe for you. Look out for the dogs, look out for the evil-workers, look out for those who mutilate the flesh. For we are the true circumcision, who worship God in spirit, and glory in Christ Jesus, and put no confidence in the flesh. Though I myself have reason for confidence in the flesh also. If any other man thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew born of Hebrews; as to the law a Pharisee, as to zeal a persecutor of the church, as to righteousness under the law blameless. - Philippians 3:1-6
This is the first video in a series that will prove that the Hebrew Roots Movement Torah Observers are the same group that the Apostles opposed 2000 years ago before the churches. Its a new mask on an old face. I begin by reviewing Acts 15 verse by verse. I point out that at the end of the Jerusalem Council The Apostles and elders write to the Gentiles they no longer have to keep the Mosaic Laws and Statutes saying that trying to hold them to the laws of their fathers is nothing short of putting God Himself to the test.
“And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” - Matthew 7:23 - Why the warnings (the words of Christ) SHOULD cause true Christians to be Judaized. In Matthew 7:23 the word “iniquity” means “not under Jewish Law”. See Strongs Concordance - Greek 458. Please post comments @ http://TSU.CO/OfficerWally - Sunday worship vs Sabbath worship: Christians who want to honor God by suggesting that the Church should worship on Sabbath rather than Sunday are often wrongly labeled Judaizers. Q: Want to avoid INIQUITY in your life? A: Jesus said Judaize it! Matthew 7:23 As a matter of fact he said that those who profess to be his followers will be rejected for not Judaizing their worship. PLEASE NOTE: This video is also available at Remnant TV's dedicated video platform at RemnantNewspaper.com Father uses St. Paul’s Epistle to the Galatians and the story of Jesus and the ten lepers as foundation for his discussion of the Old Law and a pharisaical approach to the Gentiles. Is St. Paul’s anger at the Judaizers the same as the anger many critics today express against Traditional Catholics-- those they accuse of being the new Judaizers for insisting on restoring the Old Latin Mass, the old moral theology and the rest of the traditions of the Church? What do you think?

Exodus 31:12-17 12 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you. 14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. 15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. 16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual ...
Much of the writings of the apostle Paul are aimed at an insidious doctrine which spread through the early church. This error attempted to impose the Law of Moses upon the church, especially Gentile Christians. In this presentation, Mike Criswell discusses the Judaizers and their beliefs.
