Aluva

Aluva (formerly Alwaye), is second biggest town of Greater Cochin City in the Ernakulam district of Kerala, India which is also considered as the Industrial and Commercial City of Kochi. Located on the River Periyar, Aluva is the industrial epicenter of the state. A major transportation hub, with easy access to all major forms of transportation, Aluva acts as a corridor which links the highland districts to the rest of the state. Cochin International Airport Limited - CIAL at Nedumbassery, is 11.7 km away from Aluva. Aluva is more famous for its accessibility through Rail (Aluva Railway Station), Air (CIAL Airport) and Metro (Kochi Metro Rail Limited).

Aluva, home to the summer residency of the Travancore royal family - the Alwaye Palace - is also famous for the Sivarathri festival celebrated annually at the sandbanks of Periyar. The Advaita Ashrams in Aluva founded in 1913 by Sree Narayana Guru, one of India's greatest social reformers adds to the cultural significance of the town. Today, whilst part of the Kochi urban agglomeration, Aluva is an autonomous municipality, its civic administration conducted by Aluva Municipal Council. The town also serves as the administrative centre of the Aluva taluk.The headquarters of the District Police Chief of Ernakulam Rural Police District, Superintending engineer, PWD(Roads) and of the District Educational Officer, Aluva are also located here.It is the starting point of Kochi metro rail under construction.

Manorama News

Manorama News (also known as MM TV) is a Malayalam language news channel owned and operated by Malayala Manorama. The channel, based at Aroor Alleppey, was launched on 17 August 2006, which coincided with the Malayalam New Year. The channel was launched with the assistance of media consulting company Mediaguru Consultants Pvt. Ltd.

The thirty-minute simultaneous newscast of regional news, Nattuvartha, from three regions of Kerala, viz. Malabar region, Kochi Region and Travancore region was done for the first time in the country.

Johny Lukose is the News Director and he also anchors a programme "Nere Chove". Romy Mathew and Pramod Raman are the Coordinating Editors of the channel and heads the input and output functions respectively.

Watch

A watch is a small timepiece intended to be carried or worn by a person. It is designed to keep working despite the motions caused by the person's activities. A wristwatch is designed to be worn on a wrist, attached by a watch strap or other type of bracelet. A pocket watch is designed for a person to carry in a pocket.

Watches evolved in the 17th century from spring-powered clocks, which appeared as early as the 14th century. The first watches were strictly mechanical, driven by clockwork. As technology progressed, mechanical devices, used to control the speed of the watch, were largely superseded by vibrating quartz crystals that produce accurately timed electronic pulses. Some watches use radio clock technology to regularly correct the time. The first digital electronic watch was developed in 1970.

Most inexpensive and medium-priced watches, used mainly for timekeeping, are electronic watches with quartz movements. Expensive collectible watches, valued more for their elaborate craftsmanship, aesthetic appeal and glamorous design than for simple timekeeping, often have purely mechanical movements and are powered by springs, even though these movements are generally less accurate and more expensive than electronic ones. Various extra features, called "complications", such as moon-phase displays and the different types of tourbillon, are sometimes included. Modern watches often display the day, date, month and year, and electronic watches may have many other functions. Time-related features such as timers, chronographs and alarm functions are common. Some modern designs incorporate calculators, GPS and Bluetooth technology or have heart-rate monitoring capabilities. Watches incorporating GPS receivers use them not only to determine their position. They also receive and use time signals from the satellites, which make them essentially perfectly accurate timekeepers, even over long periods of time.

Malayala Manorama

Malayala Manorama (Malayalam: മലയാള മനോരമ) is a daily morning newspaper, in Malayalam language, published from Kottayam in the state of Kerala, India by Malayala Manorama Company Limited. It was first published as a weekly on 22 March 1890, and currently has a readership of over 20 million (with a circulation base of over 2.1 million copies). The Malayalam title "Manorama" roughly translates to "entertainer".

According to World Association of Newspapers, as of 2011, it holds a position as the fifth most circulating newspaper in the world. According to the Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) 2013 figures, it is the third largest circulating newspapers in India (behind The Times of India and Dainik Jagran) and largest circulating newspaper in Kerala.

History

Malayala Manorama,is owned by single family, known as the Kandathil. Malayala Manorama Company was incorporated by Kandathil Varghese Mappillai at Kottayam on 14 March 1888. The company started with one hundred shares of Rs 100 each. The investors paid in four equal instalments. With the first instalment, the company brought a Hopkinson and Cope press, made in London. A local craftsman, Konthi Achari, was hired to make Malayalam types for the imported press.

Nivin Pauly

Nivin Pauly (born 11 October 1984) is an Indian film actor best known for his work in Malayalam cinema. He made his debut with Malarvaadi Arts Club (2010) which was directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan and produced by Dileep. Later, he went on to act in successful films including Thattathin Marayathu (2012), Neram (2013), 1983 (2014), Bangalore Days (2014), Oru Vadakkan Selfie (2015) and Premam (2015).

In 2015, he received the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performances in Bangalore Days and 1983.

Early and personal life

Nivin Pauly was born into a Malayali Syro-Malabar Catholic family from Aluva, Ernakulam on 11 October 1984. Nivin's father, Pauly Bonaventure, was a mechanic who worked in Aarau, Switzerland and his mother a nurse at a Swiss hospital. Nivin used to spend his holidays with his parents in Aarau where they stayed for 25 years. He graduated with a B.Tech degree in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Federal Institute of Science and Technology (FISAT), Angamaly in 2006.
