HMS Duncan was a D-class destroyer leader built for the Royal Navy in the early 1930s.The ship was initially assigned to the Mediterranean Fleet before she was transferred to the China Station in early 1935 where she remained until mid-1939.Duncan returned to the Mediterranean Fleet just after World War II began in September 1939.She was transferred to the Home Fleet in December 1939, although she was badly damaged in a collision the following month, and required repairs that lasted until July 1940.

The Royal Navy's final Class 45 Destroyer, HMS "Duncan" was commissioned in late September 2013. On Monday 30th September-Tuesday 1st October, she made a call to the Military Base at Marchwood located in Southampton Docks. She departed for Portsmouth at 13:58 on the 1st assisted by the tugs "Wyeforce", "Wyestorm" & "Wyetow". The Royal Navy's final Class 45 Destroyer, HMS "Duncan" was commissioned in late September 2013. On Monday 30th September-Tuesday 1st October, she made a call to the Military Base at Marchwood located in Southampton Docks. She departed for Portsmouth at 13:58 on the 1st assisted by the tugs "Wyeforce", "Wyestorm" & "Wyetow". She is named after Admiral Duncan, and now joins her sisters "Daring", "Dauntless", "Diamond", "Dragon" & "Defender".
Also in Southampton on October 1st were P&O; Cruises' "Adonia" (at the 'Mayflower' Terminal) & "Azura" (at the 'Ocean' Terminal) plus AIDA's "AIDAsol" (at the 'City' Terminal) making her second visit to the port.
"Adonia" was the first to sail at 15:52 heading for Copenhagen on a 16-night Baltic Cruise taking in ports such as Stockholm (Sweden), St. Petersburg (Russia) & Tallinn (Estonia) returning via the Kiel Canal.
"Azura" followed at 16:44 heading for Cadiz on a 17-night Central Mediterranean Cruise taking in ports such as Corfu, Dubrovnik (Croatia), Venice (Italy) & Lisbon (Portugal) returning on Friday October 18th.
"AIDAsol" was due for 19:00 departure but was delayed by 13 minutes due to the arrival of an NYK Car Carrier into Berths 38/9. She left at 19:13 heading for her next port of call: Zeebrugge as part of her weekly repeated cruise from Hamburg.

The Royal Navy's final Class 45 Destroyer, HMS "Duncan" was commissioned in late September 2013. On Monday 30th September-Tuesday 1st October, she made a call to the Military Base at Marchwood located in Southampton Docks. She departed for Portsmouth at 13:58 on the 1st assisted by the tugs "Wyeforce", "Wyestorm" & "Wyetow". She is named after Admiral Duncan, and now joins her sisters "Daring", "Dauntless", "Diamond", "Dragon" & "Defender".
Also in Southampton on October 1st were P&O; Cruises' "Adonia" (at the 'Mayflower' Terminal) & "Azura" (at the 'Ocean' Terminal) plus AIDA's "AIDAsol" (at the 'City' Terminal) making her second visit to the port.
"Adonia" was the first to sail at 15:52 heading for Copenhagen on a 16-night Baltic Cruise taking in ports such as Stockholm (Sweden), St. Petersburg (Russia) & Tallinn (Estonia) returning via the Kiel Canal.
"Azura" followed at 16:44 heading for Cadiz on a 17-night Central Mediterranean Cruise taking in ports such as Corfu, Dubrovnik (Croatia), Venice (Italy) & Lisbon (Portugal) returning on Friday October 18th.
"AIDAsol" was due for 19:00 departure but was delayed by 13 minutes due to the arrival of an NYK Car Carrier into Berths 38/9. She left at 19:13 heading for her next port of call: Zeebrugge as part of her weekly repeated cruise from Hamburg.

She’s come into Devonport for just 36 hours to get restocked and refueled and embark a fleet of Chinook, Apache and Cobra helicopters before setting off to meet her allies for the biggest NATO exercise in 20 years, Operation Trident Juncture. An almost impossible task if it wasn’t for a top secret visit from a ViP, a broken down sewage system, and an imminent storm threatening to delay her.
