Say, does anyone remember when Trump was the lightweight with no "policy specifics"? I have an entire chapter in my book, In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!, quoting media savants complaining about Trump's lack of "policy specifics," interspersed, by date, with his major policy speeches and papers.

At this point, the only "policy specific" Trump hasn't given us is which company will supply rebar for the wall.

But now, the media's entire campaign against Trump is to prevent him from talking about policy. They would rather talk about fat-shaming than trade, immigration and jobs.

Sometimes, it seems like Trump is cheating by taking the vastly more popular side of every issue.

The official GOP used to send its candidates out with ankle weights, a 75-pound backpack and blinders. But Trump didn't agree to take any staggeringly unpopular positions, however much the Business Roundtable loved them.

He's against amnesty, for building a wall, against the Trans-Pacific Partnership, for Social Security, against the Iraq War and for extreme vetting of Muslim immigrants.

That's why the media have to change the subject to something flashy that will capture the attention of the most down-market, easily fooled voters. Trump is a groper!

In the U.K.  Spectator, American freelance hack  Eric Weinberger (Email him)reviews Another Day In The Death Of America, a book about America’s “gun culture”, written by Gary Younge, a black UK.  Guardian writer who was born in the U.K. to Jamaican parents. It's based on an investigation of 10 deaths that happened in one fairly average day in the  U.S. in 2013. Younge traveled across America and interviewed relatives, funeral directors etc., many of whom couldn’t understand his British accent. Weinberger writes (emphases added):

He’s black, foreign, reporting for a liberal newspaper — surely he’s anti-gun, wary of law enforcement, an apologist for urban pathologies that ignore the primacy of ‘personal responsibility’, and so on. Indeed, he may be those things — none is bad! — but all of it is muted before the journalistic imperative to describe the daily hideous consequences of American gun culture, the thing ‘most foreigners find hardest to understand’.

But most Americans don’t understand it, either, because in our segregated country people of different ethnic and racial backgrounds don’t live and struggle in the same communities in the same ways. Even though white gun culture is the most significant component of American violence, only one of these ten boys — they are all male — is white, from rural Michigan where, like all hunting states, guns proliferate, resulting in many homicides including what seems, in the case of Tyler Dunn (age 11), an accident at the hands of another kid.

Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine was just celebrated by the Main Stream Media for giving a campaign speech entirely in Spanish—the first (but probably not the last) time a member of a presidential ticket has done so [ Kaine delivers speech in Spanish during church service , by Rebecca Savransky, The Hill, October 16, 2016]. This is just more evidence of the linguistic balkanization that mass immigration is imposing on America.  (Note also that Leftists don’t care about the “separation of church and state” if religious leaders are helping them).

But Hillary of course is not, and the Spanish section of her website is quite telling what she wants to emphasize to Spanish-speaking voters about her immigration policies.

In what sense is the system rigged?

Consider Big Media—the elite columnists and commentators, the dominant national press, and the national and cable networks, save Fox. Not in this writer's lifetime has there been such blanket hatred and hostility of a presidential candidate of a major party.

"So what?" They reply. "We have a free press!"
