Scott Martin (politician)

Scott Martin (born December 28, 1971) is a Republican politician from the U.S. state of Oklahoma. He currently serves as the Oklahoma House of Representatives as chair of the Appropriations and Budget Committee and the representative for House District 46.

Elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in November 2006, he will be term-limited out of office in 2018.

Early life and career

Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Scott Martin graduated from Tulsa Memorial High School in 1991 and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Oklahoma in 1995.

He married Angela on May 22, 2004.

He has worked as a public employee for the cities of Norman, Oklahoma and Noble, Oklahoma.

Political career

Scott Martin was elected to the Oklahoma House of Representatives in 2005. In his 2008 re-election bid, he said he supported the proper use of all road user fees for road maintenance, limited state government and reductions to the state income tax rate.

Oklahoma House Speaker T.W. Shannon announced the appointment of the Norman Republican as chair of the Appropriations and Budget Committee in 2012.

Scott Martin (co-driver)

Scott Martin (born 6 November 1981) is a British rallying co-driver who competes in the FIA World Rally Championship.

Martin began his rallying career in 2001 co-driving at a national level in the UK. With Matthew Wilson in 2004, he finished as second outright co-driver in the British Rally Championship (BRC) in the Ford Focus RS. After the 2004 season, Martin was accepted into the MSA British Rally Elite Scheme, a specialist training scheme for young British rally drivers.

In 2005 he was involved in a serious accident on the opening round of the BRC, the Rally of Wales, and was airlifted to hospital. Later that year he achieved his first international win on the Trackrod Rally with Wilson. The team also finished first on the Colin McRae Stages Rally.

In 2006 Martin, with Scottish driver Barry Clark in the Ford Fiesta ST, scored third place in the Fiesta Sporting Trophy International (FSTi) series and third place in the S1600 category of the BRC. The following year he achieved his first win in an international series in the FSTi with Clark, and with Mark Higgins he was placed overall third in the FIA Production World Rally Championship.

Scott Martin (athlete)

Scott Martin (born 12 October 1982 in Wodonga, Victoria) is an Australian shot putter and discus throw competitor. He rose to prominence in a National Australia Bank advertisement promoting the 2006 Commonwealth Games; in the ad, Martin was shown taking part in a ballet class to improve his discus technique. He won a bronze medal in the men's shot put at the Games, and won gold in the men's discus throw.

Scott Martin is currently the Australian and Oceania record holder with a throw of 21.26 metres in the Melbourne leg of the World Athletics Tour meeting in February 2008. He beat the previous record held by Justin Anlezark at 20.96 metres.

In addition he is the 2006 Australian Shot Put champion, and he is a three-time discus champion (2004–06). Martin is currently managed by the Australian arm of Athletes1, whose Director is Rick Olarenshaw.

He competed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in the shot put and 2012 London Olympics at the discus but failed to progress beyond the qualifying stage on both occasions.

Scott Martin (born 27 November 1993) is a British racing driver.

Career

Karting

Born in Eastbourne, Martin began karting at the age of seven, doing various club championships such as Lydd and Buckmore summer/winter championships. When Martin entered his 12th and final year in comer cadet racing, he entered both Stars of Tomorrow and Super One National Kart Championships, finishing 12th and 16th respectively, narrowly missing out on a seeded top 15 finish in Super One. In 2005, the age restriction for comer cadets was extended from 12, to 13 for the 2006 season, however due to lack of funds, Martin was unable to do another year in the National Championships.

Club100

After taking 3 years out, Martin returned to Kart racing in 2009, doing four of the eleven rounds of the Club100 Lightweight Championship. In 2010, doing the full eleven rounds of the Lightweight Championship, he ended up finishing 9th. With the top 20 finishers of the 2010 Lightweight Championship being asked to move into the new Lightweight Clubman Class that Club100 had planned for the 2011 season, Martin was amongst these drivers. Finishing his second full-season in 9th, racking up 3 podiums and the lap record at Rye House.
