Princeton University is led by a President selected by the Board of Trustees. Until the accession of Woodrow Wilson, a political scientist, in 1902, they were all Presbyterian clergymen, as well as professors. Former President Shirley M. Tilghman is a biologist; her two predecessors were economists. The official residence of the president of the university is the Walter Lowrie House. Prior to 1968, Prospect House served in that capacity.
Princeton University is a private Ivy League research university in Princeton, New Jersey, United States. Founded in 1746 in Elizabeth as the College of New Jersey, Princeton was the fourth chartered institution of higher education in the Thirteen Colonies and thus one of the nine Colonial Colleges established before the American Revolution. The institution moved to Newark in 1747, then to the current site nine years later, where it was renamed Princeton University in 1896.
Princeton provides undergraduate and graduate instruction in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering. It offers professional degrees through the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, the School of Architecture and the Bendheim Center for Finance. The University has ties with the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton Theological Seminary, and the Westminster Choir College of Rider University. Princeton has the largest endowment per student in the United States.
William Jefferson Clinton (born William Jefferson Blythe III; August 19, 1946), generally known as Bill Clinton, is an American politician who served as the 42nd President of the United States from 1993 to 2001. A member of the Democratic Party, ideologically Clinton was a New Democrat, and many of his policies reflected a centrist Third Way philosophy of governance.
Clinton was born and raised in Arkansas, and is an alumnus of Georgetown University, where he was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi and Phi Beta Kappa and earned a Rhodes Scholarship to attend the University of Oxford. He is married to Hillary Clinton, who served as United States Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013 and who was a Senator from New York from 2001 to 2009. Both Clintons earned law degrees from Yale Law School, where they met and began dating. A black student group at Princeton occupied the university president's office this month and demanded the Ivy League college change the name of its renowned Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs because of the former US president's stance on segregation. Princeton is just the latest in a series of American colleges facing a backlash from minority protest groups alleging widespread institutional racism. Demonstrations have hit campuses at Yale, Harvard, and Smith College, as well as many others. The president of the University of Missouri — where a number of overtly racist incidents have taken place — resigned under pressure from students and admitted to not doing enough to fight racism on campus on November 9. VICE News covered the protest at Princeton as students fa...

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos gave the Baccalaureate address to Princeton University's Class of 2010. Bezos graduated from Princeton in 1986 with a degree in computer science and electrical engineering. He was introduced by Princeton University President Shirley M. Tilghman. Bezos spoke to the Class of 2010 about the difference between choices and gifts. Cleverness, Bezos pointed out, is a gift, while being kind to others is a choice. One's character, he suggested, is reflected not in the gifts one is endowed with at birth but rather by the choices one makes over the course of a lifetime. Brown University President Christina Paxson hosts a public roundtable, Cracking the Glass Ceiling: Women Presidents and the Changing University, featuring three women who have been presidents of major universities: Drew Gilpin Faust, President of Harvard University, Shirley Tilghman, former President of Princeton University and Nan Keohane, former President of Wellesley College and Duke University. They discuss social changes that have allowed women finally to become leaders of major universities and the challenges women still face in these key leadership roles.
Princeton University President Shirley Tilghman, a distinguished molecular biologist, discusses the role of women in science -- past, present and future. Her address was part of "Women in Theory," a conference on theoretical computer science hosted in June 2010 by Princeton's Center for Computational Intractability. Tilghman talks about the early battles of women in the sciences during the 1970s and 1980s, laments that the need still exists for women-specific conferences, and emphasizes the importance of self-confidence and self-discipline for women (and men) seeking to make their mark in the world of science. Tilghman is introduced by Tal Rubin. Conference co-chairs included Rubin and Boaz Barak and Moses Charikar. More here: http://intractability.princeton.edu/blog/2009/11/wo...
