A member state is a state that is a member of an international organization or of a federation or confederation.
The World Trade Organization (WTO) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) include some members that are not sovereign states; thus, neither organization ever speaks of "members states"; the WTO has simply "members" WTO members, whereas the IMF calls its members "member countries".

The UK has voted to leave the EU, and it's a major blow to the European Union system. The UK is not the only country that has had a problem with the European Union. Denmark and Sweden are EU member countries but like the UK, they refused to adopt the Euro. Switzerland is not part of the European Union and has kept its access to the Union's single market. The European Union has seen increasing political and economic integration among member states since its official establishment in 1993, after the Maastricht Treaty came into force. But tough problems remained unresolved. ‘Stating a concern that the proposed law would lead to the reintroduction of border controls between GM and non-GMO-growing countries, the European Parliament news service reported that Members of the Environment Committee shot down a draft EU law that would allow member states to restrict or prohibit sales of genetically modified crops. This vote goes against numerous EU states that have made it clear in recent months that they plan to instate total bans on GM crops. A total of 19 EU countries have sent letters to the EP saying that they plan GM bans, citing concern over spoiling agricultural markets, and also the desire to provide their citizens with organic food.’ http://www.davidicke.com/headlines/european-union-committee-wants-to-demolish-existing-law-allowing-member-states-to-ban-g...

The totalitarian proposals will strip the sovereignty of member states and the ability to have an army. The criminal law system and central banks will also be removed and run by bureaucrats in Brussels. Additionally, member states will lose control of their borders and procedures on admitting and settling migrants. “Our countries share a common destiny and a common set of values that give rise to an even closer union between our citizens. We will therefore strive for a political union in Europe and invite the next Europeans to participate in this venture,” a preamble to the document states. The drastic measures will be presented during a meeting of the Visegrad group by German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier later today. The Indian Army's surgical strikes across the Line of Control in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir seem to have galvanised the voters around the BJP which will win poll-bound Goa, Manipur and Uttarakhand if elections in these states are held today. The India Today-Axis Opinion Poll has predicted that the saffron party will retain Goa by winning 17-21 seats in the 40-member state Assembly. The opinion poll says there is no anti-incumbency against the BJP in Goa and the party still commands a 38 per cent vote share in the coastal state. It also appears that the recent rebellion within the state unit of the RSS has had little impact on the Laxmikant Parsekar government. When asked to rate the performance of the Parsekar government, a whopping 76 per cent of the respondents ticked 'Good', four per cen...

The East African Community is in a deep financial crisis with no money to run the activities of the community. The community financial reserves have run out and the EAC secretariat has resorted to using gratuity funds for lawmakers and the staff of the community to pay their salaries . The funding crisis stems from partner states defaulting on the their annual contribution as well as donors who were funding the community to a tune of 70 percent of the community’s budget pulling out . This has forced lawmakers of the East African legislative assembly to invoke articles of the East African Community treaty calling for suspension of member states who are defaulting on their contribution.
