A bell is a simple idiophone percussion instrument. Although bells come in many forms, most are made of metal cast in the shape of a hollow cup, whose sides form a resonator which vibrates in a single tone upon being struck. The strike may be made by a "clapper" or "uvula" suspended within the bell, by a separate mallet or hammer, or—in small bells—by a small loose sphere enclosed within the body of the bell.
Bells are usually made by casting metal, but small bells can also be made from ceramic or glass. Bells range in size from tiny dress accessories to church bells 5 metres tall, weighing many tons. Historically, bells were associated with religious rituals, and before mass communication were widely used to call communities together for both religious and secular events. Later, bells were made to commemorate important events or people and have been associated with the concepts of peace and freedom. The study of bells is called campanology.
A set of bells, hung in a circle for change ringing, is known as a ring or peal of bells.
Where I Live is an American sitcom that premiered in 1993 as part of ABC's TGIF lineup. The series was created and executive produced by Michael Jacobs and Ehrich Van Lowe.
The series starred Doug E. Doug as Douglas St. Martin, a Trinidadian American teenager living in the Harlem section of New York City. He lived with his caring, hard-working parents and his younger sister. Much of the show focused on Douglas's misadventures with his best friends, Reggie (Flex) and Malcolm (Shaun Baker). The show was based on Doug E. Doug's own childhood.
A midseason replacement, the series drew critical acclaim for its realistic portrayals, but the ratings were very low, putting the show on the brink of cancellation. Support from fans and Bill Cosby helped the show get renewed for a second season. The show returned in the summer on Tuesdays after Full House, which raised the ratings temporarily. Bill Cosby then became a consultant on the series. However, the show was moved to Saturday nights for its second season and the ratings were even lower than before. Eight episodes were produced for the second season, but the series was cancelled after only three of them had aired.
The Joker is Wild was the second album released by Alex Harvey after the demise of The Soul Band. The album was released in 1972. Some time after 1972 the album The Joker Is Wild was reissued and repackaged, the album song listings stayed the same, but the album was credited as being made by "The Sensational Alex Harvey Band" even though this band did not exist at the time, and the title was changed to This Is.
The album was recorded at Regent Sound Studio, London in early 1972. These songs are unfinished demos only, recorded for a Spanish singer named Tony Caldeira (who wrote "The Joker Is Wild" and "Silhouette and Shadow"). Alex was teaching Tony vocal delivery and phrasing. Alex received a cheque for the session which subsequently bounced. The producer, Paul Murphy, sold the tapes to Metronome Records in Germany and they issued the LP as The Joker Is Wild in 1972. This Is SAHB is a low budget reissue of "Joker" intended to cash in on SAHB's success (even though Zal, Chris, Ted and Hugh weren't involved with the recordings). The photo of SAHB on the sleeve features keyboard player John Martin on the far left.

September 6, 2016 by RACHEL HORN • When we invited William Bell to the Tiny Desk, we looked forward to witnessing part of a veteran soul hitmaker's journey back to the spotlight. Bell is known for writing and performing several of the R&B; classics that emerged from Memphis' Stax Records in the 1960s, "You Don't Miss Your Water" and "Everybody Loves A Winner" among them. After decades away from Stax — and away from sizable record labels entirely — he returned to his old label home earlier this year to release This Is Where I Live. So we were ready to be won over by Bell's rich, expressive voice and bandleader's charm; we were prepared for emotionally dense songs that say a lot in only a few words. We just didn't expect so much yellow. Bell, who's 77 and now makes his home in Atlanta, worke...
William Bell Performs "You Don't Miss Your Water" at In Performance at the White House: Memphis Soul accompanied by the White House band. "In Performance at the White House: Memphis Soul" is a music event hosted by President and Mrs. Obama to celebrate the memorable soul sounds from the mid- to late-1960s that came from Memphis, Tennessee and legendary labels like Stax-Volt Records, that featured artists such as Eddie Floyd, Mavis Staples, William Bell, Sam Moore and many more. Memphis was a segregated city in the 1960s where many whites and blacks nonetheless came together to make soulful music, a mix of gospel and potent rhythmic grooves — known today as "Memphis Soul." The program featured performances by Alabama Shakes, William Bell, Steve Cropper, Al Green, Ben Harper, Queen Latifah...
From the album "This Is Where I Live" (out June 3, 2016). "William Bell aces his return to the legendary Stax label with This Is Where I Live, an excellent album built on the foundations of his songwriting and vocal skills. In the 1960s, Bell performed or wrote a handful of blues and soul classics, including Everyday Will Be A Holiday and Born Under A Bad Sign, and he continues to uphold those high standards even on the cusp of his 77th birthday. His clear, smooth tenor lends authority and honesty to the 12 songs produced by John Leventhal. Bell, who left Stax and founded his own label in the mid-1970s, sings about his Memphis roots and musical journey on the title track, while More Rooms cautions that for a marriage to last, remember “there’s more rooms in a house ... than the bedroom"...

Shall I compare thee to a Summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate: Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, And Summer's lease hath all too short a date: Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, And often is his gold complexion dimm'd, And every fair from fair sometime declines, By chance, or nature's changing course untrimm'd: But thy eternal Summer shall not fade, Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st, Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade. She?s my kind of girl
The girl?s alright with me, yeah
She?s my kind of girl
How lucky can one man be
Ooh, I take her out to have a good time
She lets me know that she?s mine all mine
When we?re together and she squeezes me
A single touch from her is ecstasy, oh yeah
I like the way she holds me
Oh, oh, she?s alright with me
She?s my kind of girl
How lucky can one man be, yeah
I took her home the other day
Her sister and brother asked me if I?d stay
I met her mother and daddy too
I felt at home, they did everything they could do, oh yeah
They?re my kind of people
And oh, oh, they?re alright with me
She?s my kind of girl
And how lucky can one man be
She?s my kind of girl
Oh, oh, she?s alright with me
