A 12-year-old boy charged with raping a six-year-old girl at a primary school on Sydney's northern beaches has appeared in a Children's Court.
The boy, who was supported by his parents during a brief appearance on Thursday, did not enter any pleas to the charges.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of having sexual intercourse with the girl earlier this year.
He is also accused of two counts of aggravated indecency in company.
According to court documents, the alleged offences occurred between 8am and 4pm, between June 24 and July 1.
The case has been referred to the Department of Public Prosecutions, and the matter is next due to go before court in November.
The boy was excused from attending his next court appearance as long as he is legally represented.
The boy's co-accused, also 12, faced court last month and formally entered pleas of not guilty.
He was charged with three counts of aggravated indecency in company, two counts of sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 10 and one count of indecent assault.
He allegedly assaulted the girl between June 24 and August 16.
The two boys were arrested at Chatswood police station in September after a two-week investigation.
"Parents and carers of students at the school are in the process of being notified, and police request the community respect the privacy of the young people involved," police said at the time.
"NSW Police Force works closely with the Department of Education and Family and Community Services to ensure the safety of all students, and additional support has been made available at the school."
