In Classical Greek mythology, Hippolyta (/hɪˈpɒlɪˌtə/; Greek: Ἱππολύτη Hippolyte) was the Amazonian queen who possessed a magical girdle she was given by her father Ares, the god of war. The girdle was a waist belt that signified her authority as queen of the Amazons. She figures prominently in the myths of both Heracles and Theseus. As such, the myths about her are varied enough that they may be about several different women.
The Ninth Labour of Heracles
In the myth of Heracles, Hippolyta's girdle (ζωστὴρ Ἱππολύτης) was the object of his ninth labor. He was sent to retrieve it for Admeta, the daughter of King Eurystheus. Most versions of the myth indicate that Hippolyta was so impressed with Heracles that she gave him the girdle without argument, perhaps while visiting him on his ship. Then (according to Pseudo-Apollodorus), the goddess Hera, making herself appear as one of the Amazons, spread a rumor among them that Heracles and his crew were abducting their queen, so the Amazons attacked the ship. In the fray that followed, Heracles slew Hippolyta, stripped her of the belt, fought off the attackers, and sailed away.

Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics. The character is a warrior princess of the Amazons (which are based on the Amazons of Greek mythology) and is known in her homeland as Princess Diana of Themyscira. When outside her homeland, she is sometimes known by the secret identity Diana Prince. She is gifted with a wide range of superhuman powers and superior combat and battle skills. She possesses an arsenal of weapons, including the Lasso of Truth, a pair of indestructible bracelets, a tiara which serves as a projectile, and (in older stories) a range of devices based on Amazon technology.
Wonder Woman was created by the American psychologist and writer William Moulton Marston. The character first appeared in All Star Comics #8 in December 1941 and first cover-dated on Sensation Comics #1, January 1942. The Wonder Woman title has been published by DC Comics almost continuously except for a brief hiatus in 1986. Her depiction as a heroine fighting for justice, love, peace, and gender equality has led to Wonder Woman being widely considered a feminist icon. Created during World War II, the character was initially depicted fighting Axis military forces as well as an assortment of colorful supervillains, although over time her stories came to place greater emphasis on characters, deities, and monsters from Greek mythology. In the decades since her debut, Wonder Woman has gained a formidable cast of enemies bent on eliminating the Amazon, including classic villains such as Ares, Cheetah, Circe, Doctor Psycho, and Giganta, along with more recent adversaries such as the First Born. Wonder Woman has also regularly appeared in comic books featuring the superhero teams Justice Society (from 1941) and Justice League (from 1960).

Here we have the second official film adaptation of the Marvel comics “Fantastic Four”, with Michael Chiklis as The Thing, Jessica ALba as the Invisible Woman, Ioan Gruffudd as Mister Fantastic, Chris evans as The Human Torch, and Julian McMahon returning as Doctor Doom. We got the great Doug Jones as the body of the Silver Surfer, and Laurence Fishbourne as the voice of the Silver Surfer. Tim Story returns again as director, and takes the Fantastic Four through another comedic adventure to fight the planet eating cloud called Galactus. That’s right I said Galactus is a giant purple cloud...Let’s talk about this film.
Spotlight: The Creeper
A true Steve Ditko creation, The Creeper is a frightening anti-Joker anti-Hero, who looks like a clown mixed with a EDM kid squeezed through a meat grinder filled with hallucigenic mushrooms and recongealed into a pasty yellow thing with red fur and teeth. Jack Ryder and The Creeper’s origin have always been tied to a strange serum made by Dr.Yatz that would cause this dual personality, and later rebooted to be a nanocell “Smart-skin” that involved Yatz and his partner the Joker.

As we ready for the debut of Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice, Warner Bros and Entertainment Weekly released a new image that showcases Gal Gadot and her Amazon Warriors that include her mother Hippolyta played by Connie Nielsen, and her military aunts Robin Wright and Lisa Loven Kongsli. This comes after a survey was released by Fandango saying audiences are actually more excited by the prospect of seeing Wonder Woman. 88% of fans surveyed are excited to see the Amazon Warrior played by Gadot finally realized on screen. Of the survey, 82% saw Man of Steel, 66% are fans of director Zack Snyder and 61% said they would see Batman v Superman more than once. The movie is currently at 98% with fans as a must see.
Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie, the animated movie that follows the adventures of the Caped Crusader from The LEGO Movie. Will Arnett is back voicing the character for director Chris McKay; with a s script from Seth Grahame-Smith. Lego Batman centers on the life of Batman who lives alone with his butler Alfred, questioning his existence. Batman’s life is suddenly turned upside down when Robin and Batgirl appear in his world. The movie stars the voices of Michael Cera as Robin, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl/Barbara Gordon, Ralph Fiennes as Alfred and Zach Galifianakis as The Joker. The LEGO Batman Movie arrives on February 10, 2017.

Iron Man 3 director Shane Black was recently interviewed by the website Thrillist about his next movie The Nice Guys and inevitably, the subject of his Predator movie came up. Black finally confirmed his directing of the movie and explained how he came to the project in the first place. While hesitant at first, Black explained how Fox won him over. He then confirmed that Fox was willing to “spend a bunch of money” making it big with scale and with spectacle. When asked if Arnold Schwarzenegger would be back, Black said that negotiations are currently in process and the script itself must remain a secret for the time being.
More with Shane Black – it was back in 2013 when he also signed on to write and direct an adaptation of the 1930s pulp comic series, Doc Savage for Sony Pictures. Doc Savage follows his adventures as a physician, surgeon, scientist, inventor, explorer, and even a musician – someone that can do it all. Black wanted to maintain the 1930s setting and embrace the Capra-esque nature to it. Speaking with Thrillist again, Black offered an update for the long in development movie.
A new international trailer has dropped for Captain America: Civil War and in the footage is a new clip featuring Black Widow and Hawkeye facing off during a big, cinematic fight. Civil War finds Steve Rogers leading a newly formed team of Avengers in their continued efforts to safeguard humanity. But after another incident involving the Avengers results in collateral damage, political pressure mounts to install a system of accountability, headed by a governing body to oversee and direct the team. The new status quo fractures the Avengers, resulting in two camps—one led by Steve Rogers the other following Tony Stark.

According to a report in TheWrap, Academy Award winning actress Nicole Kidman is currently in talks to appear in the upcoming Warner Bros/DC film WONDER WOMAN scheduled for release in 2017. There are no confirmations on what role Kidman would play in the film, but there is speculation that she could possibly play Amazon Queen Hippolyta.
Although there have been rumors and speculation about a SIX BILLION DOLLAR MAN project for years and even recently, it has now been confirmed. The Weinstein Company has officially announced that the SIX BILLION DOLLAR MAN will go into production in September for a December 2017 release and the film will indeed star Mark Wahlberg as was previously rumored. The Six Billion Dollar Man is based on the classic television series “The Six Million Dollar Man” and the novel “Cyborg” by Martin Caidin. The story follows military officer, Steve Austin, who becomes part of a top secret government program after a horrific accident leaves him near death. With the help of cutting edge technology, Steve is brought back to life with extraordinary abilities, making him the world’s first truly bionic man.

As many of you know, the highly anticipated Leonardo DiCaprio/Tom Hardy film THE REVENANT opens in theatres on Christmas day, and now 2 new posters featuring the actors have been released which you can see here. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass ( played by Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (played by Tom Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.
Although principle photography was completed some time ago, reports are emerging that X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is heading back to Montreal for a few weeks of reshoots. Most interesting in the report are claims that Hugh Jackman is going to be involved in those shoots. Up to this point there has been no official confirmation from either 20th Century Fox nor Jackman himself that he will be involved in the film.
A few weeks ago the official poster for the upcoming STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS hit the web. Now, a new international poster for the film has surfaced in several markets which looks very similar to the North American version of the poster with a few key differences.

The first major film opening this week is the new James Bond film SPECTRE. A cryptic message from the past leads James Bond to Mexico City and Rome, where he meets the beautiful widow of an infamous criminal.
