The Mumbai Metro is a metro system serving in the Indian city of Mumbai. The system is designed to reduce traffic congestion in the city, and supplement the existing, but severely overcrowded Mumbai Suburban Railway network. It will be built in three phases over a 15-year period, with overall completion expected in 2021. When complete, the core system will comprise three high-capacity metro railway lines, spanning a total of 63 kilometres (39 mi). Line 1 of the Mumbai Metro is operated by Mumbai Metro One Pvt Ltd (MMOPL), a joint venture company formed by Reliance Infrastructure, Veolia Transport and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).
In June 2006, the then Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh inaugurated the first phase of the Mumbai Metro project. Construction work began in February 2008. A successful trial run was conducted in May 2013, and the system's first line entered operation on 8 June 2014, as some aspects of the project were afflicted by delays and cost issues.
The Mumbai Metro is India's first public private partnership metro project in which all the three phases were given to a private player.
3 MRT and 3 BRT routes were recommended for Dhaka city. In line with this recommendation, with the financing of Japan International Co-operation Agency and management of Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority, a 20.1 km long metrorail will be built. This will be known as MRT line-6 and it will be the fastest and the most advanced mass transport system in Bangladesh. To run day to day operations and maintenance of this line, a new, fully government owned agency called Dhaka Mass Transit Company will be set up.

The Dhaka Metro (Bengali: ঢাকা মেট্রো) is an approved metro rail system to be constructed in Dhaka, the capital and largest city of Bangladesh. The system is referred to as the MRT, abbreviated from Mass Rapid Transit. It has been long called for to solve the extreme amount of traffic jams and congestion that occur throughout the entire city on a daily basis. Dhaka's traffic congestion is among the heaviest in the world.
A feasibility study has been completed, the route has been decided upon, yet construction has not begun. The progress was stalled by a number of objections to the route alignment by numerous organisations. The deal for the first route (MRT line 6) of 20.1 kilometres (12.5 mi),[2] costing $2.8 billion, was signed by the government with the Japan International Cooperation Agency on 20 February 2013.[3] The first route will start from Pallabi, a northern suburb of Dhaka to Sayedabad, in the south of the capital.[4] Most of the metro will be elevated above current roads, with stations also elevated. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation of India will serve as a project consultant.[5]
A video released by the Dhaka Transport Coordination Board appears to show that the system plans to use smartcards.
As of May 2015, soil testing for the line was nearly complete, with construction for the first and second sections planned to begin in November 2016 and July 2017, respectively, for planned public operation by the end of 2019.[1][2]
A tentative alignment has been decided upon for three new metro lines.
The stations on MRT Line 6 are still unclear. The Daily Star has reported that stations include Pallabi, Sayedabad, Chandrima Udyan, Agargaon, Bijoy Sharani, Shahbagh, TSC, Bangla Academy, Curzon Hall, Topkhana and Bangladesh Bank, but did not state where along the line they would be placed. The original map above also has different station placement to a Dhaka Transport Coordination Board video released in January 2012. It is a division of the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA), a state-owned enterprise which is responsible for most passenger rail services in South Africa. The Metrorail system consists of 471 stations, 2,228 kilometres (1,384 mi) of track, and carries an average of 1.7 million passengers per weekday.[1]
Metrorail was formed as a business unit of Transnet and was transferred to the South African Rail Commuter Corporation (SARCC), the predecessor of PRASA. In the early 1990s Metrorail was placed under Spoornet, another business unit of Transnet but on 1 January 1997, Metrorail became an independent business within Transnet and the Metrorail regions were formed. In 2006 Metrorail was transferred back into the SARCC; in 2008 the SARCC became PRASA.
Metrorail trains, as with the rest of the South African rail network, run on 1,067 mm (3 ft 6 in) Cape gauge track. Some routes run on track owned and operated by PRASA; other routes run on track operated by Transnet and also used for long-distance and freight trains.
Most Metrorail services are operated by Electric Multiple Unit train sets of the type 5M2A. Since 1999, these trains are being refurbished. Everything above the underframe is completely removed, and replaced by new, prefabricated wall and roof modules.[7] In 2007 alone more than 300 coaches were refurbished.[8] The new trains are designated 10M3 (Cape Town), 10M4 (Gauteng) or 10M5 (Durban).[9][10]
The Metrorail services on the Eastern Cape are operated by four diesel trains, each consisting of ten coaches and a diesel locomotive.[11]
280 train sets operate on the system,[1] each able to carry up to 1800 passengers.[12]"

On 21st September 2016 , The new line from Airport to Little Mount was opened to service after successful trial runs and CRS Approval !
As this new Line is opened , the people boarding the train from Koyambedu line can reach Airport Metro with/without switching the trains at Alandur Metro Junction !

The Chennai Metro, officially Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), is a rapid transit system serving the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. The system commenced revenue service in 2015 after partially opening during the first phase of the project, which consists of lines along two corridors covering a length of 45.1 kilometres (28.0 mi) The Government of India approved the plan for 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) extension in 2016.
Upon completion, the Chennai Metro will be the first metro project in India that will integrate other public transportation systems and the project is expected to reduce the commuting time by 75% from one end of the city to the other. The system would also takeover the existing Chennai Mass Rapid Transit System, which would be upgraded to operate using the rolling stock of the Chennai Metro. CMRL was recognised by the International Association of Public Transport in 2011.
Chennai Metro runs in standard gauge measuring 1,435 millimetres (56.5 in) and the lines are double-tracked. The rail tracks were manufactured in Brazil and the raw material was supplied by Tata Steel. The average speed of operation is 35 kilometres per hour (22 mph) and maximum speed is 80 kilometres per hour (50 mph). Chennai Metro operates trains from 5:00 am to 12:00 am with a frequency of one train every 4.5 minutes in peak hours and every 15 minutes in lean hours. CMRL plans to increase the frequency to one train every 2.5 minutes once footfalls reach 600,000 passengers a day
The Chennai metro has a depot at Koyambedu with ballast-less tracks of 15 kilometres (9.3 mi). The depot houses maintenance workshops, stabling lines, a test track and a washing plant for the trains.It also houses the Operational Control Centre (OCC) where the movement of trains and real-time CCTV footages obtained from the stations and on-board cameras is monitored. The company plans to build a headquarters building near the facility
The trains are connected to the grid via overhead electric cables and are equipped with regenerative braking with a capacity to recover 30–35% of the energy during braking. The metro will require an average of 70 MW of power daily and the electricity will be supplied by Tamil Nadu Electricity Board. Chennai Metro is also planning to use solar power for five of its stations on the elevated corridor, with a production capacity of 200 KW.

The Metrorail services on the Eastern Cape are operated by four diesel trains, each consisting of ten coaches and a diesel locomotive.[11]
280 train sets operate on the system,[1] each able to carry up to 1800 passengers.[12]"

Upon completion, the Chennai Metro will be the first metro project in India that will integrate other public transportation systems and the project is expected to reduce the commuting time by 75% from one end of the city to the other. The system would also takeover the existing Chennai Mass Rapid Transit System, which would be upgraded to operate using the rolling stock of the Chennai Metro. CMRL was recognised by the International Association of Public Transport in 2011.
Chennai Metro runs in standard gauge measuring 1,435 millimetres (56.5 in) and the lines are double-tracked. The rail tracks were manufactured in Brazil and the raw material was supplied by Tata Steel. The average speed of operation is 35 kilometres per hour (22 mph) and maximum speed is 80 kilometres per hour (50 mph). Chennai Metro operates trains from 5:00 am to 12:00 am with a frequency of one train every 4.5 minutes in peak hours and every 15 minutes in lean hours. The trains are connected to the grid via overhead electric cables and are equipped with regenerative braking with a capacity to recover 30–35% of the energy during braking. The metro will require an average of 70 MW of power daily and the electricity will be supplied by Tamil Nadu Electricity Board. Chennai Metro is also planning to use solar power for five of its stations on the elevated corridor, with a production capacity of 200 KW.

The system is referred to as the MRT, abbreviated from Mass Rapid Transit. To solve the extreme amount of traffic jams and congestion that occur throughout the entire city on a daily basis. Dhaka's traffic congestion is among the heaviest in the world.The deal for the first route (MRT line 6) of 20.1 kilometres (12.5 mi),[2] costing $2.8 billion, was signed by the government with the Japan International Cooperation Agency on 20 February 2013.[3] The first route will start from Pallabi, a northern suburb of Dhaka to Sayedabad, in the south of the capital.[4] Most of the metro will be elevated above current roads, with stations also elevated. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation of India will serve as a project consultant.[5]

A nation without vision is a nation gone astray. While visiting the Downtown Transit Center a few times, I got to railfan the MetroRail station. It was pretty neat catching the Siemens light rail trams, although it eventually got repetitive. And although the night made it hard to see, the lights looked cool for a change. Just remember that if you railfan the MetroRail, watch your surroundings and the people around you, especially at night. I also put in some bonus daylight videos at the end. Videos taken on 2/4/2016, 2/18/2016, and bonus 4/21/2016.
