Audra

Audra is an Arizona-based band formed in 1991 in Mesa, Arizona by brothers Bret and Bart Helm.

History

Audra broke out onto the national scene in 2000 when they signed with indie label Projekt Records. After two well-received albums and over 300 live performances, the band decided to leave Projekt and go back to the DIY approach that started their career in the 1990s.

The band gained the attention of Davey Havok, lead singer of AFI, who chose Audra’s Going to the Theatre (2002) as one of his top 10 albums of the year. The next year, Alternative Press magazine selected Audra as one of the top 10 bands on the scene. Eleven songs from their first two albums were featured throughout three seasons of MTV’s The Real World and several independent films.

On May 19, 2009, Audra released Everything Changes, their first album in seven years. It was recorded in Tempe, Arizona at Uranus Recording (owned by Robin Wilson, lead singer of Gin Blossoms, and produced by Robb Vallier (Dave Stewart, Paul McCartney, Wailing Souls, Peter Murphy).

Audra McDonald

Audra Ann McDonald (born July 3, 1970) is an American actress and singer. She has appeared on the stage in both musicals and dramas, such as Ragtime, A Raisin in the Sun, and Porgy and Bess. She maintains an active concert and recording career, performing song cycles and operas as well as performing in concert throughout the U.S. She has won six Tony Awards, more than any other actor, and is the only person to win all four acting categories. She also starred in the ABC television drama Private Practice as Dr. Naomi Bennett.

Early life and education

McDonald was born in West Berlin, the daughter of American parents, Anna Kathryn, a university administrator, and Stanley McDonald, Jr., a high school principal. At the time of her birth, her father was stationed with the U.S. Army. McDonald was raised in Fresno, California, the elder of two daughters. She began to study acting at a young age to counteract her diagnosis as "hyperactive". McDonald graduated from the Roosevelt School of the Arts program within Theodore Roosevelt High School in Fresno. She got her start in acting with Dan Pessano and Good Company Players, beginning in their Junior Company. "I knew I wanted to be involved in theater when I had my first chance to perform with the Good Company Players Junior Company." "The people who have had the most impact on my life: Good Company director Dan Pessano and my mother." She studied classical voice as an undergraduate under Ellen Faull at the Juilliard School, graduating in 1993.

The Rapper

"The Rapper" is a song by The Jaggerz, written by band member Dominic Ierace, better known as Donnie Iris. Released as a single, it reached No. 2 on the Billboard Pop Singles chart and was certified Gold by the RIAA in 1970 (see 1970 in music) for selling over a million copies. (Iris later launched a solo career; his biggest such hit was Ah! Leah!.)

The song is addressed to a girl, or girls in general; it describes the method of a man who seduces women with untruths ("rapping".) The singer says, "You know what he's after"; he concludes by saying there comes a point at which the man has his target where he wants her. The girl has to "face reality." The record ends with a small group of applause heard in the studio.

Covers

"The Rapper" has been covered by two Jaggerz members. Since beginning his solo career, Donnie Iris has covered the song numerous times in concert. Additionally, live recordings of the song have appeared on his compilation albums.

Also, "The Rapper" was covered by Jimmie Ross during the time period when The Jaggerz weren't together in the duo Cooper & Ross with Kathy Cooper. Additionally, the single was covered by Wolfman Jack. Canadian hard rock trio Santers recorded the song for their 1981 debut album Shot Down In Flames.

Audra the Rapper

Audra The Rapper is an American rapper, songwriter, singer and brand ambassador. Audra was born in Washington, DC and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia and the Richmond, Virginia area.

Early years

Audra's love and push for music came from what she knew best – her family. Raised by her single-mother and grandmother in Richmond, Virginia, Audra has said music was a great inspiration to her, especially when it comes to Jazz. Listening to her grandmother spin Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald made singing a top priority for her. Audra was raised in the church and joined the choir at age 5 and was leading solos by age 6. Audra says she was 6 years old when she got her first CD, Brandy Norwood's (aka Brandy) self-titled debut album and it fixed her attention on having a singing career. But it wasn’t until curiosity struck a 13-year-old Audra that she was spurred to branch out into other ways of expressing herself. With the support of her mother and three years of hard work later, the then 16-year-old performed at her very first show as Audra The Rapper. Audra has stated that her major musical influences are Lauryn Hill, Jay-Z, Queen Latifah and Missy Elliott and she would love to collaborate with Lauryn Hill, Jay-Z and Prince.

The Tonight Show

The Tonight Show is an American late-night talk show broadcast from the Rockefeller Center in New York City and airing on NBC since 1954. It is the world's longest-running talk show, and the longest running, regularly scheduled entertainment program in the United States. It is the third-longest-running show on NBC, after only the news-and-talk shows Today and Meet the Press.

Over the course of more than 60 years, The Tonight Show has undergone only minor title changes. It aired under the name Tonight for several of its early years, eventually settling on The Tonight Show after the seating of long-time host Johnny Carson in 1962. In later decades, network programmers, advertisers, and the show's announcers would refer to the show by including the name of the host; for example, it is currently announced as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. In 1957, the show briefly tried a more news-style format. It has otherwise remained a talk show throughout its run.

The Tonight Show began broadcasting in 1954. It has had six official hosts, beginning with Steve Allen (1954–57), followed by Jack Paar (1957–62), Johnny Carson (1962–92), Jay Leno (1992–2009, 2010–14), Conan O'Brien (2009–10), and Jimmy Fallon (2014–present). It has had several recurring guest hosts, a practice especially common during the Paar and Carson eras.

Plot: Every town has a local legend. Not all of them are deadly. They have a name for Williams now: Plasterhead. Soon, the four friends find themselves holed up in an abandoned farmhouse, mired in a macabre web of terror. Sheriff Taggart will do anything to keep the truth buried: the truth that Plasterhead is frighteningly real. As these teens will soon learn, true evil has no face.
