Beloved actor and comedian Robin Williams... has been found dead... at his home in California.
Paul, what were the circumstances behind his death.
Well, authorities say the 63-year-old had recently been suffering severe depression... and it's believed he may have taken his own life.
Messages of condolences have been pouring in... following his death... from friends, celebrities, and even heads of state.
Among them include Steven Spielberg who said... "Robin was a lightning storm of comic genius and our laughter was the thunder that sustained him...."

Actor and comedian Robin Williams has died at the age of 63.
According to Marin County Police, Williams was pronounced dead shortly after noon on Monday, local time, in an apparent suicide at his home in northern California.
Preliminary results suggest Williams died due to asphyxia.
His publicist says the actor had been battling "severe depression" of late.
In a statement, his wife Susan Schneider said she was utterly heartbroken over losing her husband and best friend... and asked people to remember Williams for the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.
Born in Chicago in 1951,... Williams studied theater at Julliard School in New York.
He entered into the homes and hearts of America as an alien visitor in the 1970s TV series "Mork & Mindy."
He went on to act in more than a hundred television shows and movies, starring as a lovable father-turned-housekeeper in "Mrs. Doubtfire"... and a fatherly therapist in "Good Will Hunting," which won him an Oscar for best supporting actor.
In the past, Williams had openly talked about his battle with alcohol and drugs... and he recently visited a rehabilitation center to,... as he put it,... "fine-tune" his sobriety.

The apparent cause of death was suicide by asphyxiation, authorities said. According to his publicist, Williams had been battling severe depression.
Williams was best known for his starring roles in classic comedies like Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Morning, Vietnam and Jumanji, but also in dramas like Dead Poets Society. He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Dr. Sean Maguire in Good Will Hunting. He rose to fame while playing Mork the alien in the TV show Mork & Mindy, a Happy Days spinoff.
Most recently, Williams had starred in the new CBS sitcom 'The Crazy Ones.' It was cancelled after just one season. At his time of death, a sequel to Mrs. Doubtfire was in the works.
Susan Schneider, the actor's wife, released the following statement to the New York Times' Dave Itzkoff:
"This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin's family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, it is our hope that the focus will not be on Robin's death but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions."

actor Robin Williams died at the age of 63 on Monday, authorities and his wife have confirmed.
Police were the first to announce the death of Williams, who was discovered “unconscious and not breathing inside his residence” in Tiburon, California. A police report was the original source of the announcement.
“The Sheriff’s Office Coroner Divison suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia,” the report says.
Williams wife issued a statement shortly after his passing. “This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human begins. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, our it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”
Said his publicist in a separate statement today, “He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss.”
An investigation into his death is now underway.
In July the actor had checked himself into rehab after troubles with alcohol. A statement from his rep to TMZ at the time said, “After working back-to-back projects, Robin is simply taking the opportunity to fine-tune and focus on his continued commitment, of which he remains extremely proud.”
Williams is best known for roles in Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society, Aladdin, and Jumanji.

Robin McLaurin Williams (July 21, 1951 – August 11, 2014) was an American actor and comedian. Starting as a stand-up comedian in San Francisco and Los Angeles in the mid-1970s, he is credited with leading San Francisco's comedy renaissance. After rising to fame as Mork in the sitcom Mork & Mindy (1978–82), he went on to establish a career in both stand-up comedy and feature film acting. He was known for his improvisational skills.

Mrs. Doubtfire
Mrs. Doubtfire is a 1993 American comedy-drama family film directed by Chris Columbus and based on the novel, Alias Madame Doubtfire by Anne Fine. It stars Robin Williams (who also served as co-producer) and Sally Field. It won the Academy Award for Best Makeup and the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
Although the film received mixed reviews during its original theatrical run, subsequent reevaluation has been more positive: the film was placed 67th in the American Film Institute's 100 Years, 100 Laughs: America's Funniest Movies, a list of the 100 funniest movies of the 20th century, and was also rated No. 40 on Bravo's 100 Funniest Movies of All Time. The original music score was composed by Howard Shore.
In 2001, a sequel titled Mrs. Doubtfire 2 began production by Bonnie Hunt. Writing for the sequel began in 2003, but it was cancelled in December 2006, after Williams believed the script was "useless." In April 2014, however, production resumed, but after Williams' death in August 2014, plans for a sequel were permanently cancelled.

According to Marin County Police, Williams was pronounced dead shortly after noon on Monday, local time, in an apparent suicide at his home in northern California.
Preliminary results suggest Williams died due to asphyxia.
His publicist says the actor had been battling "severe depression" of late.
In a statement, his wife Susan Schneider said she was utterly heartbroken over losing her husband and best friend... and asked people to remember Williams for the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.
Born in Chicago in 1951,... Williams studied theater at Julliard School in New York.
He entered into the homes and hearts of America as an alien visitor in the 1970s TV series "Mork & Mindy."
He went on to act in more than a hundred television shows and movies, starring as a lovable father-turned-housekeeper in "Mrs. Doubtfire"... and a fatherly therapist in "Good Will Hunting," which won him an Oscar for best supporting actor.

This is the raw vision/sound of an interview me and Chris Murray conducted in Sydney in late 2010 for the now-defunct cable show The Movie Club. I posted the footage a few months ago because I've always liked how it showed the low-key Robin Williams behind the sometimes manic persona I'd seen in other interviews. He was a lovely guy, very happy to chat afterwards and was instrumental in arranging for me to visit his hero, Mort Sahl, in Mill Valley, California, for another interview. He will be missed.

Beloved actor Robin Williams was found dead on Monday, police reported. He was 63. The apparent cause of death was suicide by asphyxiation, authorities said. According to his publicist, Williams had been battling severe depression. Williams was best known for his starring roles in classic comedies like Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Morning, Vietnam and Jumanji, but also in dramas like Dead Poets Society. He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Dr. Sean Maguire in Good Will Hunting. He rose to fame while playing Mork the alien in the TV show Mork & Mindy, a Happy Days spinoff. Most recently, Williams had starred in the new CBS sitcom 'The Crazy Ones.' The apparent cause of death was suicide by asphyxiation, authorities said. According to his publicist, Williams had been battling severe depression.
Williams was best known for his starring roles in classic comedies like Mrs. Doubtfire, Good Morning, Vietnam and Jumanji, but also in dramas like Dead Poets Society. He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of Dr. Sean Maguire in Good Will Hunting. He rose to fame while playing Mork the alien in the TV show Mork & Mindy, a Happy Days spinoff.
Most recently, Williams had starred in the new CBS sitcom 'The Crazy Ones.' It was cancelled after just one season. At his time of death, a sequel to Mrs. Doubtfire was in the works.

According to Marin County Police, Williams was pronounced dead shortly after noon on Monday, local time, in an apparent suicide at his home in northern California.
Preliminary results suggest Williams died due to asphyxia.
His publicist says the actor had been battling "severe depression" of late.
In a statement, his wife Susan Schneider said she was utterly heartbroken over losing her husband and best friend... and asked people to remember Williams for the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.
Born in Chicago in 1951,... Williams studied theater at Julliard School in New York.
He entered into the homes and hearts of America as an alien visitor in the 1970s TV series "Mork & Mindy."
He went on to act in more than a hundred television shows and movies, starring as a lovable father-turned-housekeeper in "Mrs. Doubtfire"... and a fatherly therapist in "Good Will Hunting," which won him an Oscar for best supporting actor.

actor Robin Williams died at the age of 63 on Monday, authorities and his wife have confirmed.
Police were the first to announce the death of Williams, who was discovered “unconscious and not breathing inside his residence” in Tiburon, California. A police report was the original source of the announcement.
“The Sheriff’s Office Coroner Divison suspects the death to be a suicide due to asphyxia,” the report says.
Williams wife issued a statement shortly after his passing. “This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human begins. I am utterly heartbroken. On behalf of Robin’s family, we are asking for privacy during our time of profound grief. As he is remembered, our it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”
Said his publicist in a separate statement today, “He has been battling severe depression of late. This is a tragic and sudden loss.”
An investigation into his death is now underway.
In July the actor had checked himself into rehab after troubles with alcohol. A statement from his rep to TMZ at the time said, “After working back-to-back projects, Robin is simply taking the opportunity to fine-tune and focus on his continued commitment, of which he remains extremely proud.”
Williams is best known for roles in Good Will Hunting, Dead Poets Society, Aladdin, and Jumanji.
