Liverpool born photographer Ken Grant has been photographing the weekly rituals around the city’s two famous football clubs, as well as local park teams, for some years now. His vivid black and white photos show fans meeting, drinking, eating, fighting and queuing in and around Anfield and Goodison Park on a Saturday afternoon. Meanwhile there are the young and not so young playing and watching their own games in the parks dotted around the same locality. His photographs record activities that are as important as any in the weekly life of a football fan in one of the nation’s most important footballing cities and make a valuable contribution to social history.
