Texas State University

Texas State University is a state university located in San Marcos, Texas, United States. Established in 1899 as the Southwest Texas State Normal School, it opened its doors in 1903 to 303 students with a focus to educate students to become teachers. Since that time it has grown into the largest institution in the Texas State University System and the fourth-largest university in the state of Texas boasting an enrollment of over 38,000 students. It has 10 colleges and about 50 schools and departments, including nationally recognized programs in Geography, Criminal Justice and Music. President Lyndon B. Johnson graduated from the institution in 1930.

Texas State's main campus consists of 245 buildings on 492 acres (1.99 km²) of hilly land along the San Marcos River. It also has a satellite campus that started as a multi-institution teaching center offering undergraduate and graduate programs at the Texas State University Round Rock Campus (RRC) in the greater north Austin area.

Texas State Technical College System

Texas State Technical College System (TSTC) is a system of two-year technical schools in Texas. It is the only state-operated system of two-year colleges in Texas.

TSTC's headquarters are at the old Connally Air Force Base north of Waco, Texas and are co-located with the Waco campus, which is its oldest and flagship campus. The Waco campus operates branch campuses in Hutto and Richmond.

TSTC also operates campuses in Harlingen (with a branch in Ingleside), Marshall (with a branch in Red Oak that opened in 2014), and West Texas (with campuses in Abilene, Breckenridge, Brownwood, and Sweetwater), as well as TSTC Corporate College, which operates customized training programs for specific industries. TSTC also operates partnerships with the Texas State Marine Education Center in Palacios and with the Richmond campus of Wharton County Junior College.

History

TSTC was established in 1965 as the James Connally Technical Institute (JCTI) of Texas A&M University to meet the state’s evolving workforce needs. At the time, Governor John Connally (no relation) predicted that it would be "the most sophisticated technical-vocational institute in the country."

Institute of technology

Institute of technology (also: university of technology, polytechnic university, technikon, and technical college) is a designation employed for a wide range of learning institutions awarding different types of degrees and operating often at variable levels of the educational system. It may be an institution of higher education and advanced engineering and scientific research or professional vocational education, specializing in science, engineering, and technology or different sorts of technical subjects. It may also refer to a secondary education school focused in vocational training. The term institute of technology is often abbreviated IT and is not to be confused with information technology.

The English term polytechnic appeared in the early 19th century, from the French École Polytechnique, an engineering school founded in 1794 in Paris. The French term comes from the Greek πολύ (polú or polý) meaning "many" and τεχνικός (tekhnikós) meaning "arts".

While the terms "institute of technology" and "polytechnic" are synonymous, the preference concerning which one is the preferred term varies from country to country.

MTA Records

More Than Alot (MTA) Records is an independent record label founded by Chase & Status in 2009, specialising in "exceptional" music. The label releases a large variety of music including rap, soul, drum and bass, dubstep and deep house. It has played a pivotal role in the success of Nero, Redlight, 16bit, Ben Pearce among others, and many of its releases have charted in the United Kingdom.

On 19 February 2015, the label competed against Hospital Records, Black Butter Records and 3 Beat Records in BBC Radio 1Xtra's "Best of British Soundclash". Hosted by MistaJam, the event served as an unofficial sequel to Red Bull's Culture Clash 2014 (also hosted by MistaJam). MTA won, having received the most Twitter votes from listeners.
