Utah State Route 68
State Route 68 (SR-68) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Utah. It is a major thoroughfare throughout the Wasatch Front as it runs north–south for 70.832 miles (113.993 km), linking US-6 near Elberta to US-89 in Woods Cross. The route intersects several major freeways and highways in the Salt Lake City metropolitan area including I-215, I-80, and I-15. The route is more commonly referred to as Redwood Road, after the street it is routed along throughout Salt Lake County. The highway is also routed for a short distance along 500 South and 200 West in Bountiful and Camp Williams Road in Utah County. The route is a surface street for its entire length.
SR-68 became a state highway in 1931, at which time the route ran from then–US-40 (North Temple Street) in Salt Lake City to present-day US-89 in Lehi. In 1933, the route was extended north to US-89 at Beck's Hot Springs. SR-68 was routed onto Redwood Road in 1943, taking over what had been designated SR-153. In 1960, SR-68 switched alignments with SR-249 to follow Redwood Road and 2300 North to Bountiful; the route was extended south to Elberta at this time also. SR-249 was extended west along a proposed roadway to 2200 West and 2200 North in 1961 before being removed in 1969. In 2001, SR-68 was extended south on a former piece of SR-106 in Bountiful.

Sequoioideae
Sequoioideae (redwoods) is a subfamily in the family Cupressaceae, with three genera.
Description
The three redwood subfamily genera are Sequoia and Sequoiadendron of California and Oregon, USA; and Metasequoia in China. The redwood species contains the largest and tallest trees in the world. These trees can live thousands of years. This is an endangered subfamily due to habitat losses from fire ecology suppression, logging, and air pollution.
Only two of the genera, Sequoia and Sequoiadendron, are known for massive trees. Metasequoia, with the living species Metasequoia glyptostroboides, are much smaller.

Taxonomy and evolution
Multiple studies of both morphological and molecular characters have strongly supported the assertion that the Sequoioideae are monophyletic.
Most modern phylogenies place Sequoia as sister to Sequoiadendron and Metasequoia as the out-group. However, Yang et al. went on to investigate the origin of a peculiar genetic artifact of the Sequoioideae—the polyploidy of Sequoia—and generated a notable exception that calls into question the specifics of this relative consensus.

It is the capital of the U.S. state of Utah.Four mighty walls surround the 4 hectare area in the middle of the old town, the centre of the Mormon Church, Temple Square. It is decorated with flowers and contains the most important sacred buildings of the Mormon community, such as the Salt Lake Temple, The Tabernacle and Conference Centre. Joseph Smith, Jr. was 15 years old when he had his first vision. The Angel MORONI appeared to him and gave him a number of sacred texts that led to the foundation of the Mormon church. A sacred land was established and a settlement created within the desert. The largest sanctuary and centre of the Mormon faith is the Salt Lake Temple. Constructed of stone, its use is restricted to the Mormon religion. It was built between 1853 and 1893 in grey granite New Gothic style with six towers, its main one being 68 metres high. Construction of the Cathedral of the Madeleine began in 1900 and was completed in 1909, a Christian building whose exterior is of Romantic design and with a Gothic interior. Once both faith and diligence established this remarkable place. Since then, Salt Lake City has become the centre of a hugely successful religious empire.

Met up with the Seetallers to film a vanlife battle challenge for their channel and took a tour of their 1978 VW Transporter Ice Cream Bus

PLANNING A TRIP TO UTAH'S NATIONAL PARKS Plan on staying at least 7-10 days if you want to hit all the National Parks (Bryce, Zion, Arches, Canyonlands and Capitol Reef), at least two weeks if you want to hit the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley Salt Lake City is the main airport hub to fly in and out of, but you can also fly out of St. George or Moab There is a 5-6 hour drive between the three triangle corners of Salt Lake City, Moab and St. George You could do Arches and Canyonlands OR Zion and Bryce on individual weekends For a one week itinerary, start in Salt Lake City and spend the first day driving. Day 2: Zion National Park Day 3: Bryce National Park (can do it in a ½ day) Day 4: Capitol Reef National Park (very diverse and not as crowded) Day 5: Arches National Park (the hike to the delicate arch is short but uphill and crowded so going off season is best) Day 6: Canyonlands National Park -- this park is in three different sections and the Island in the Sky district is perfect for families, especially the White Rim Overlook Day 7: Drive back to Salt Lake City If you are just spending one day per park, you will just see the highlights and do one bigger hike Stargazing tourism is popular in Bryce and Capitol Reef National Parks Some lesser-known gems include Goblin Valley State Park, Snow Canyon State Park, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary Zion and Arches can get very crowded during the high season and it is best to go early. Those parks also get over 100 degrees in the late spring and summer January and February are great times to go to Canyonlands because they are dry and in the 40s during that time Fall break in Utah is in October on a Thursday and Friday so the parks will be very busy during those days Spring break is usually the last week of March or first week of April Parks are crowded from April - August If you want to camp inside the park, you should book at least a few months in advance BEST PLACE TO TAKE FAMILY PHOTO The most iconic spot is at the end of the trail in Arches National Park that overlooks the Delicate Arch. Another great spot would be Bryce Canyon at sunrise. FAVORITE TRAVEL GEAR When traveling in the National Parks, Allison uses a comfortable hiking boot and the EcoVessel water bottle. Three major projects are being constructed this year on Redwood Road: a new diverging diamond interchange at I-215 in North Salt Lake; widening a section between 12600 South and Bangerter Highway from two lanes to seven lanes; and widening a section between 400 South and Stillwater Parkway to five lanes, and adding a new continuous flow intersection at Pioneer Crossing in Saratoga Springs.
