This is a compilation of clips of the Planes of Fame Museum's Corsair (Chino, California) and includes some clips of the Palm Springs Air Museum's own Corsair. Man, this thing just scoots, BIG TIME! Wow, just awesome!
Listen to the 2,000 horsepower generated by the 2,800 cubic inches of the supercharged, 18 cylinder Pratt & Whitney R-2800! You'll see during the flybys why the Japanese called this fighter the "Whistling Death."
This aircraft just leaps off the runway in just a few seconds, and remember, the manifold pressure used today for takeoff with 100-octane low-lead fuel is not anywhere near what could be used with the wartime, 130-octane+ fuel. Very impressive!

World renown WW2 warbird fighter pilot Keith Skilling puts the Old Stick and Rudder Company's Goodyear FG-1D Corsair through its paces at the Classic Fighters airshow held at Omaka Aerodrome, Blenheim, New Zealand in 2005. This is the only surviving Corsair that actually saw service with the Royal New Zealand Air Force during World war Two.

"A big, tough, shipboard fighter." The Vought F4U Corsair fighter was the plane flown by Pappy Boyington's infamous "Black Sheep" VMF-214 Marine squadron. Initially rejected by they US Navy as a carrier fighter, it was loved by island based Marine squadrons who found it to be both an excellent air superiority fighter and outstanding ground support bomber, a trait much prized by the Corps. Then the Royal Navy figured out how to land it on their carriers and the US Navy soon followed suit. Faster than the F6F Hellcat, it was known to Japanese pilots as "Whistling Death" for good reason. The F4U had an amazing 11-1 kill ratio in the Pacific theater. The Corsair went on to perform with distinction throughout the Korean War and for the French in Indochina.

"A big, tough, shipboard fighter." The Vought F4U Corsair fighter was the plane flown by Pappy Boyington's infamous "Black Sheep" VMF-214 Marine squadron. Initially rejected by they US Navy as a carrier fighter, it was loved by island based Marine squadrons who found it to be both an excellent air superiority fighter and outstanding ground support bomber, a trait much prized by the Corps. Then the Royal Navy figured out how to land it on their carriers and the US Navy soon followed suit. Faster than the F6F Hellcat, it was known to Japanese pilots as "Whistling Death" for good reason. The F4U had an amazing 11-1 kill ratio in the Pacific theater. The Corsair went on to perform with distinction throughout the Korean War and for the French in Indochina.

That's where Corsair's Strafe MX Silent keyboard comes in. It is, according to Corsair, the only keyboard to feature quiet mechanical keys out of the box. It's also the only keyboard to feature Cherry's MX Silent switches, which remain exclusive to Corsair until some point in 2017 ... Corsair doesn't specific exactly what those keyboards are, or how ......
